Yeah folks, I am shit at sarcasm and even I got that they were just doritoing around

I love how people are annoyed by not getting identified loot always and at the same time they are like dog in heat identifying that green armor piece.
Uh, what's your point?
Most useful items in the game are those with right set of +stat and skill bonuses for your party, and items rise in level all the time. So of course if you want to keep your party top notch, or if you want to raise your, say, telekenisis to 5 without investing anything, you will have to identify everything. And loot is randomly generated that kinda adds to the issue

1. The interface and graphics make it feel like World of Warcraft. It's really weird how no one seems to have commented on it in 50 pages or so, when in Wasteland 2 threads the topic has been debated for months.
How's the bestiary diversity? Do you keep fighting skeletons/orcs/generic fantasy stuff or do we get some interesting enemies to look at?
All I've gathered from this thread was how much fun the combat is and how nice it is to craft pizza :stupid:, but what about everything else? Does stealth work?
Do you have some kind of factions of side-choosing?
Can the quests be failed or finished with shortcuts?
Can you solve problems in multiple ways (buying, diplomacy, stealing, fighting etc.)?
Can you poison-kill people with reverse-pickpocketing?
Is the writing actually shit or are the biodrones just exaggerating? Note that I liked the writing in all Divinity games. Nothing amazing, but plain fun.
How does the combat difficulty compare to other kickstarter games like Dragonfall, Expedition Conquistador and Blackguards?
- I agree but I believe people already complained about generic fantasy style during development. It does not hurt the gameplay that much, and there are some nice little story touches that make you read. and locations do look good
- There are many monsters in game and every location has unique sets of them and very deviously made encounters. is giant evil snowman summoning 4 elemental powers and raping your party with meteor showers and adds interesting enough for u?
- Stealth does work but sadly it is completely useless because there is Invisibility spell in game that allows to do anything you want, loot anything, pass any guard.
- You have a lot of side choosing and some C&C but it does not seem to affect that much. Most of your enemies are just mobs/bosses. It's not AoD. Most of choice comes from interaction with game systems. There aren't many narrative choices. In side quests you mostly choose between 2, that adds up to your characters personalities (+1 romantic, +1 pragmatic) and so on. But there is C&C in side quests. Just don't expect AoD-level of narrative freedom.
- Quests have multiple solutions that rise from nature how open-like, Ultima-like game is designed, and they have some designed ways to go through them as well. And some can be failed.
- Not sure about poisoning ppl. NPC's don't eat, so perhaps no? You can poison cup of water and so on, but I am not sure NPCs will use it.
- It's your generic Larian quirky writing. Sometimes it's fun. Sometimes it's yawn. But I guess I count as generic biodrone lololo.
- It beats Shadowrun, has a lot more options than EC. It depends on party a lot. Mages howp raeur ne everything on their path. Melees are more tacticool.

Black i thought that easter egg was hella outta place and cringeworthy-ish. there's just random imps and the main one is named DU, but he's...just a random imp. if he was an evil random imp might of worked tho, so there's that.
still, just goes to show that catering for Kickretardsters diminishes the quality of the game significantly.

That is considered cringeworthy(ish) to you? Mmkay. Anyway, you know you can play without activating the Codex KS DLC, right? Like...activating should be because you think its fun and want to see such things. You realize this, right? Possibly...retarded?

Anyway, funny thing. I played the entire initial Alpha release and solved every quest back around Xmas. At that time that meant pretty much just Cyseal and immediate surrounding areas (though fairly limited in that). But the game is definitely balanced more on the difficult side since then and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out which quests/areas I should be seeking out since northeast is handing my ass to me!

p.s. just found a needle in a haystack. Hehe.

Tutorial is bad. Movement is horrifically slow out of combat. Non 360 degree rotation is obnoxious.
That said, I think I like it, even if its a time machine to 1999 with better graphics.

You can run by moving cursor farther away from party and keeping it clicked. Movement is p. fast that way.

Another thing that is pissing me off is like MMX Legacy, the game has potion spamming. It appears to be factored into the gameplay, which kinda sucks. :x

Hmm, not in my experience. I only rarely have to use potions. I guess you should've invested in healing spells & skills with one of your characters. (In my case it's the Cleric.)

Yes, I only have one healing spell thus far (Jahar's) and also the recovery skill for man at arms for my Paladin. But I will soon be eligible for more. It's just that I don't like the fact that a game has potion spamming, but this is something that for me goes way back wrt RPGs. I also don't like resurrection being possible in the gameworld. It causes all types of problems, like for instance
When Evelyn asks you to choose which of the NPCs to save, why doesn't she just save the older one using the starstone and resurrect the younger one using a scroll? It causes problems with immershun.
Ofcourse, I have had this problem with D&D since the early 90s. :P

The writing is not stellar though, nor professionally done, but that's Larian for you.

I think the writing is fairly professional - it's just very quirky. Imagine a tongue-in-cheek 80s RPG with more professional writing; this would be it. Personally I like it a lot, but then again I just like the 80s RPG style.

Yeah by professionally I meant that it is mostly bland, and all non important NPCs say the same things. But it is a minor quirk, I know they couldn't have the time to give every NPC unique dialogue. I've also played DD so I knew what to expect.

I just meant that potion spamming is by no means necessary - the Hydro spells more than suffice, and I only had to use a couple of potions in two particularly tough fights so far - but I guess your complaint is that it is possible at all and that the potions don't have use limits/cooldowns? Pretty sure they mostly introduced it as the solution for those who wouldn't build their party properly ;)

and all non important NPCs say the same things

Yeah, but in other RPGs non-important NPCs either don't have anything to say at all or spout one-liners. Personally I'd say Larian should've just went for the latter in order not to create unrealistic expectations on the part of the player (like expecting non-important NPCs to have unique dialogue :P), but I don't see that as a real complaint anyway.

Update notes: http://steamcommunity.com/games/230230/announcements/

Hello everybody,

As we enter the weekend, here's an update that should solve several problems some of you have been experiencing.

- Fix for wrong alignments (this should also fix existing save games). This for instance solves the problems with the bone totem in the Luculla Mines.
- Local chat is auto-enabled
- Greatly reduced memory usage for Win32 systems. This should lead to more stability.
- Fixed crash when a destroyed item was still in the skillbar
- Fixed a rare crash on level swap
- Fixed a crash when crafting in two inventories at the same time
- Fixed a crash when disarming trap while it detonates
- Fixed a crash for fleeing while invisible
- Fixed graphical artefacts on characters on the Mac version
- Fixed low-res terrain textures
- Fixed crash in multiplayer menu
- Disabled casting a skill when another is busy
- Teleport will now ignore the teleported item for AI grid checks
- No combines anymore in the trade window
- Added Staff of Magus to all henchman
- Fixed rare crash when summoning
- Better feedback for item combinations
- Fixed fleeing with a summon
- Changed font color in dialogs for better readability

Divinity Engine Toolkit changes

- Fixed some exceptions
- Fixed terrains not showing up when loading levels from the main game

We also posted 7 tutorial videos [www.larian.com] on the Larian forums that will help you understand the things you can do with the toolkit. More videos are incoming.

Cool. Well, I'm glad that diminished the quality of the game significantly for you then.

sigh

anyway, is there a bloodstone in

King Boreale's prison? Jaedar keeps telling me it's there but i'm unable to find it. where be it? also also, how d'you open the barrier wall behind boreale's room after killing him? using the spell thing u got from the conduit doesn't seem to work
- I didn't find any.
- Use the pyramids, duh.

They don't even say the same things. I've just asked three random legionnaires about undead plague, and each told me a different tale. Not the case for the entire town, sure, but still, some variety is there.

Well I do take on higher level enemies when I am under leveled, (black cove at level 3) but I enjoy the massive xp gains. ;) And yeah, I would prefer if RPGs started having potion limits, like one per battle per character or a limited number of times per day, etc. Just a pet peeve.

@TwinkieGorrilla How do you know he is copy pasting? Is he doing it from steam? If so that's hilarious.

At least they cost action points to quaff. It's not lie in Skyrim where you can pause the battle and drink 10 potions whenever you like

Regarding the elemental shops at your homestead...

Do you unlock the other ones later? Currently I can only unlock one. However, all four kinds of magic are indispensable for me, so I have a really hard time choosing among them :P

Idk why some people whine about potions, they are not even worth their ap cost, only used them post-fight when someone was super low and still debuffed (burning or poisoned)

Has anyone been thrown into jail yet and met the prison demon? While I much prefer the character using his own skills to escape, I have to admit this is a novel way of handling prison escapes, albeit one that is very expensive (costs 1 attribute).

stuff that annoyed me so far:
- cannot sneak past tutorial boss.
- snuck past the two drunks at the beginning without them ever seeing me, then ran back after orc fight and all three of them attack me for what is essentially no reason. meh.
- fucking stupid pyramid doors that cannot be picked.
