Yeah, Larian and GOG are catching up on the patching front, the latest one is already up on GOG.

Unfortunately not. GOG is 1.0.51 and Steam is 1.0.53. Prevents co-op between the two, sadly.

Regarding the elemental shops at your homestead...

Do you unlock the other ones later? Currently I can only unlock one. However, all four kinds of magic are indispensable for me, so I have a really hard time choosing among them :P

yes. they also come with the element's corresponding physical skill books, so there's that.

those seem to be rarer to find 4 me, anyway

Merchants in towns and anywhere reset after a couple of in game hours of you not visiting them. Walk up to a merchant, and uicksave before talking. His inventory is reset as soon as you click on him, and you can save scum until he/she has your required books. A couple are very hard to get though. i still can't get Dust Devil for my Paladin, I knew I should have started off with it instead of useless Divine Light or Power Stance, both of which are easy to find in game. I'm really pissed at the super nerf to Divine Light, in the beta it did decent cone damage. It should at least damage undead. It's the most Paladin like skill in there.

Ho-lee-crap! That Orc pirate fight near the cave was a thousand times more difficult than in the Alpha. FUCKING LOVING IT!

(seriously took me the better part of the last two hours defeating all of them)

((is there really level-scaling? it doesn't seem like it since there are obviously areas that are way too difficult for my current party-level and this area was right on the edge))

(((looks at clock. Oh goddammit. I have a 4th party I need to get showered and dressed for!)))

I never had a problem anywhere in cyseal until last battle. Holy Shit.

Yeah, my glass cannon aero/witch died to his fireball attack.

However, on my 2nd try, I sneaked up close enough to him that he didn't do the fireball attack, but just attacked me in melee. After that, it was pretty much a cakewalk (static cloud, anyone?).

I'm still very early in the game, but do you where you can get more backpacks? I want to put in the quick bar a few backpacks with distinct elements (ingredients/arrows/books/etc..). (assuming I can use items directly from the backpack, which i haven't tried yet)

I got several backpacks as random loot from various barrels and crates during my first few hours with the game.

I just skipped it. I was more interested in the forest. Now I'm having too much fun in Hiberheim to go back. I love that you can pretty much run anywhere without penalty or walls.

Just defeated Big Bad #1. My party really struggled with it (Level 9, no henchmen, Normal) and I ended up cheesing it a bit, killing the minion dudes, retreating to rest, then coming in to try a variety of strategies. The bastard kept moving around so much, I ended up teleporting him into a corner, creating an ice wall to lock him in, beating him down, and finishing it off with a couple of hard-crafted voodoo dolls.

I ended up cheesing one battle later in the game. Covered a bridge in fire and let the enemies dare to cross it. It was very amusing. You have to entice them with a fire summon. They are sure to follow.

Actually he gives a lot of AoO because of that movements. My 2 hander killed him in 3 turns with 2 lucky crits (witchcraft buffed)
And if you attack him before talking he won't cast meteors. I want that spell btw :)

After killing such a foe game rewarded me with drunken goblins as enemies...

With proper crowd control you don't even have to be particularly lucky in that battle; special arrows and using the level design ftw.

I love how creative you can get, and how much the outcome can depend on your approach.

In my experience that depends on your distance from him, not on whether you attack him first. But I may be wrong, since I only did that battle in 2 tries (on the first try I was far from him and he decimated my party on his 1st attack - even tho' I initiated battle before he started talking).

So for someone who doesn't have the game yet, is there a wiki somewhere with a list of all the abilities etc. for character planning? I'm having a dickens of a time finding one. Seems weird that something like this wouldn't be out there.

How does taking other peoples stuff work? Is it like the Ultima's, as long as no one is in sight distance you can take stuff?

Yep. It's so easy to steal stuff and twink yourself out that part of me wishes they would change it. I don't have the spell but I guess Invisibility makes it even easier. Part of me wishes they would make invisibility work sorta like in the Elder Scroll games where if you perform an action it breaks your invisibility. The game is challenging enough though that a little leg up like this isn't 100% game breaking. I think it probably should be balanced somewhat though as only 1 point in sneaking makes it possible to steal just about every painting in town which is worth ~20k gold in my estimation.

I think that's p. much how it works, yep.

edit: nael da ninja

edit2: also kindda agree with nael, it's very oldschool in that department as well... but hey, it's a small price to pay

My big problem was that 3 of the 4 enemies are healed by fire - the fire totem battle was crazy hard because of that too, as my only element is fire really. On one hand that means the fire elemental can soak up damage and distract them, but on the other hand I can't use fire terrain for crowd control and I only had a limited number of water barrels and arrows. Not to mention I swear the AI is different for the Big Bad, he just does not stay put.

I'd like to believe they forgot to set trade preferences on NPCs, it's just retarded anyone will buy anything
