Restarted with 2 lone wolves -- 2h knight dude with water magic and second char focusing on earth, fire, air (and to a lesser extent witchcraft). My dedicated mage has over 1k hp at level 9 where-as my fighter barely has 700. Constitution aint nothing to fuck with, apparently.

Also, good god the crafting is ridiculous. It's almost like there are no generic/ambience items.

Suck it down.

You're either all a bunch of sellouts, or rather your true nature has been exposed.

PS: Don't you dare compare this piece of shit game with The Witcher. At least read the thread I quoted and find out why it's nothing but the truth.

So this game is not a very good blues singer, I take it?

Hey 1eyedking, Witcher is to this game, what Dragon Age 2 is to Witcher :troll:

The thing I hate about the Lone Wolf is that you gain no bonus EXP from having less member in the party.

He's right, you shouldn't compare d: os to witcher. Divinity is far more fun.

Yer, I already wasn't using companions/henchmen (too easy, IMO) but hadn't taken lone wolf before. So, I guess I was inadvertently on hard-mode. It's a lot easier this time as quite often before I would die with the enemy on their last few HPs where-as now a lot of fights that were risky before are a cake-walk. boss fights are still dangerous tho as they can easily lob tons of damage.

This game succeeded 100% at one aspect of pen-n-paper gaming; that direct damage is not the way to go and control is the route to success. Lovin' it.

I tried to kill the partner and play with only 1 char but even at the tutorial dungeon there's shit you can't do with only one character. So, a duo it is. Plus, them dialog stats yo.

No. This game doesn't even remotely approach to delivering quality content such as this:

Now 30 hours into D:OS. Love the game. I like almost every aspect except for the crafting system.

It seems that at the time you have gathered enough recipes to make anything decent the stuff can make are useless. And then you have to manually handle it all. I have patience for a lot of things but this is too much. I browsed through some of the lists of crafting recipes o nthe net but it seems like cheating. And it seems most of these are discovered by trial-and-error - seems kind of boring to me.

I recall in Witcher 1 when you had a recipe book for potions and you could see what you where missing and could browse through it. I would have liked if D:OS had done it similarly.

So with the current state of affairs I am basically ignoring crafting. Am I missing out on anything significant by doing this?

I only use Crafting for resistance/damage/attribute boosts + special arrows for my Marksman. Both are extremely useful.

Oh, and I've also crafted some skillbooks a couple of times.

In other news, I've stopped using Summons except in fights where enemies are 2 levels higher than me. Works good so far.

When blacksmithing and crafting are level 5-6 you can make really good weapons and armors, also enhance your equipment. Got a nice 2 hander drop last night but 1 hour later did another with 6 BS and CR I which was a lot powerful.

Also if you have a bow/xbow user you can make special arrows easliy.

BTW don't combine malee char with blacksmithing and crafting. Malee characters are starved on good resists later on

Yeah, i lost a will save and rer-rolled to see what the unique codexian stuff was about (made a new profile). Also, this time i'll make everyone hybrids :D

..I am almost tempted to go lone wolf, though i guess i'll do that next time. Dammit. Must not reroll again with lone wolf.

I played D:OS for a couple of hours (didn't have much time lately) and was very impressed with the engine and mechanics. Truly a next-gen engine. Still more interested in PoE despite it being a RTwP abomination - pox on their heads.
Do you think it would be possible/feasible for indie devs to license Larian's engine and editor? If at all possible on Larian's part, they'd surely exclude some/all art assets so that the game does not look like a Div:OS clone.
