Are you trying to tell me that people finish single player games and then move on instead of putting them on repeat forever? Madness!

It indicates that DD2 has poor "legs" (in terms of long term sales). Persona 3 Reloaded, which had a much smaller peak (45K vs. 230K) and launched 2 months earlier, has a similar number of concurrent players as DD2.
It has poor legs because there is no end game content but on long term it all depends on the DLC's quality.

I did two full playthroughs and I just don't see why I should play this again right now. I think one mistake is that you can actually play all vocations in one single playthrough. There is nothing left I could try. Maybe a playthrough without pawns, but that would be in the long run too boring I think.

I think Capcom's inability to optimize the game for lower-end PCs (two months after launch and with little update on the matter) is also a big reason.

Basically the same as the first game, imo. There wasn't much point to replaying it without waiting awhile until the expansion hit and even then, once you capped out your gear and stuff and were wiping out Death in 3 seconds, etc. there wasn't much point there either. The longevity came out of the fun of the journey, but it's not the sort of thing you just keep chaining together forever. It's not a live service game (thank god).

The only reason I'll replay it is in order to get my Pawn all of the badges. I'll just hurry to kill the Sphynx each NG+ then speedrun through to unmoored world and kill the 5 lesser dragons each playthrough. I'll have to do that 3 more times to get the badges and then I'm done til the DLC.

I think these affinity-related, randomly generated escort quests could possibly be the stupidest thing ever conceived of for this game. I just had Regentkin Sven become suicidally depressed, return to the completely empty and evacuated castle grounds, and ask me to take him to some random Vermundian hillside to "prove his future as a ruler". Like, kid, are you nuts?! First of all, how does this prove anything? Second of all, have you not noticed that FUCKING ARMAGEDDON IS ON AND EVERY PATH OUT OF THE CITY IS A MONSTER-INFESTED HELLSCAPE?? I actually managed to protect him for a while, but his tendency to edgewalk and generally run off on the pack got him slashed apart by some Hobgoblins erelong. I also have no idea how to reach the top of that hilly area that's northeast of Harve Village. I've walked around it a hundred times and never figured out where you're supposed to go, as the map is misleading.

I really regret wasting a Wakestone on him, as there's no way to cancel the request in any way, and he's stuck in my party, even if I Ferrystone out. Bro doesn't even have a weapon, and he thinks he's part of the squad. Holy shit.

I really enjoyed this game. It had its ups and downs, but I believe the positives stand out more than the negatives.

The game starts really well and it's difficult to stop playing in the beginning. So many new things to discover and the quests still feel fresh. You're still unlocking vocations, skills and combat is challenging. Lack of fast-travel encourages you to explore the world, helped by the fact that pawns inform you about undiscovered caves and treasures.

I think they did a good job with the pawn system in this game. Pawns feel more alive, and it's always fun to perform high-fives with your party after a difficult battle. The character creator gives a lot of variety to the pawns' appearence, and I don't remember ever seeing two pawns with similar faces.

However, things can gradually become stale the more you advance in the story, complete quests and become overpowered.
I think this is probably true to any game that has limited content. It's an unsolvable problem, in a way, but it becomes more apparent in open-world games.
This game desperatedly needs a Hard Mode, like in DD:DA.

The story is serviceable. I couldn't really care about most characters, much like in the first one.
But at least in the first one the Dragon was really awesome and had a lot of presence. Every time the Dragon opened its mouth to speak, you listened to every single line.

In the sequel, blargh. It appears once in the beginning, and a little bit in the end but that's it. The final battle was too easy (maybe that was intentional, but whatever)
Even the voice feels disappointing to listen to.

Unmoored World was interesting for a while.
I think it was a really bold decision to design the map in such a way that what was submerged underwater becomes explorable in the end.
But I wish there was more content. After you beat the bosses and evacuate the people, that's it.
Some sort of big underground city or dungeon, and the addition of a challenging final boss would really make things more interesting.

Music was nice. Not as good as the music in DDDA, but it had some nice tunes.

The ending is bittersweet but ok. It does feels somewhat rushed, but I guess it gets the job done. DDDA did a better job at that, I think.
Also, no idea why I got Glyndwr instead of Ulrika as the "number one friend" in the credits, wtf.
I made sure to give flowers to Ulrika every once in a while just to get that elf staring at the horizon before the credits roll.

Overall, it's a step foward in some ways, and a step backward in other ways. I can't shake the feeling that it could have been much better than what we got.
The framework is there, and it's a good framework. Some cool stuff can be made with it and I believe a well-done DLC and a Hard Mode can fix some issues.
For now, I think I'm done with it. I feel kinda burned out after 100+ hours.

Also, the fact that the Godsbane sword carries over in New Game Plus implies that those sealed caves may be unlocked in a future DLC.

I rejected all contact with Glyndwr after completing his questline, and he still ended up as the "number three" in the end slides, with Ulrika as "number one" and appearing in that brief sea-horizon scene. It seems the affinity system of Dragon's Dogma 2 has issues, just as Dragon's Dogma originally did before being largely fixed in the Dark Arisen version. :M

I purchased the game last weekend and have been giving this a whirl since. I was a little reluctant to pull the trigger on this since reddit reviews had hinted that there wasn't much side content, but I haven't found that to have been true at all. I've been doing almost nothing else except for side quests. The combat is as good as it was in the original game and it's nice to come back to some familiar gameplay. I have more than 15 hours into this game, my main character is level 22, and and am only now starting Captain Brant's quests. I like the mystery surrounding the Arisen and the Soveran and it has me hooked on where the story is going. I am a little miffed that my three companions keep saying the same commentary on my habit of having a female-only party. It's an attempt at shaming the shameless, and more annoying because of how repetitive it is. The only really thing that's turning me off from the game is all of the fucking furries. I'm not sure why I have to tolerate some developer's weird fetish. It's pretty jarring and I feel you could take the furries completely out of the game and it wouldn't harm the story at all. In fact, it would probably result in addition by subtraction.

Happened to me on a 3090 when it first came out.

The only place where you'll get performance issues is in the main city
If you have a good cpu paired with that 3090 then even on Vernworth the game shouldn't drop bellow 40 fps
Unless you're playing at 4k with maxed out settings or something...

Change the registry file to make sure the game always runs with High CPU Priority

Yeah, no shit. But it's still annoying.

I'm sure in a few years some modder will figure out one line of code that needed to be changed and it will be fine, but I don't want to mess with it until then.

Butthurt mostly. And people trying to run it on toasters.
You don't need a toaster for the game to shit out low fps. I had an i7 9700k and a 3070 ti getting 30-40 fps in combat and towns at 1440p mostly max settings. An i7 14700k got it up to 70 fps.
