This game is running smoothly on my toaster. I only get a stutter slow down when I first start it then after that it runs great. I have high settings on. Weird game never played a dark souls before. Everything seems mysterious. Found the tutorial area after jumping in a hole. No hand holding. Playing with keyboard and mouse controls took me getting used to. Also the map is the "g" key. Took me forever to figure that out.

Did you meet the barbarian woman near his fog gate? I summoned her and used the wolf summon, by the time they all died Godric was down to like 10% hp and I finished him off.

yeah I summoned her but it didn't help much tbqh, I used my jellyfish maybe I'll try the wolves.. I also have a few more like soldiers I think? Time to experiment I guess..

btw how do you get back to the roundtable? I warped there once w/ waifu girl but no idea how to get back..

Just finished a 10 hours gaming session (there were 2 crashes).

Beat the crap out of Godrick with my bleed weapon +3 cause I did not know how to upgrade to +6

At the moment 41% of the players beat Margit while 28% beat Godrick.

The game is absolutely humongous: there is an entire area taken straight out of Bloodborne. It's a late game area but it can be accessed from the start.

As for the boss, if you distract him from the jellyfish eventually it'll poison him down. Twin axe lady also has pretty good damage for a npc but will face tank everything. Wolves and other low hp mob summons are pretty useless as his AOE attacks kill them quick.

Otherwise, just gotta die a few times before you memorize his moveset the dark souls way.

Man, that post summarize how expectations are a bitch and can be the complete opposite from player to player. For me, Margit is easily the best "first" boss from has ever made, even better than Father Gascoigne. And the reasons are exactly what you list as obnoxious: delayed attacks, openings that sometimes turn into combos, punishment to your healings and so on. This is the kinda shit that made me fall in love with souls games in the first place, so it makes me very happy that this is the introduction to the story boss in ER.

They did not make me fall in love with the games because they were not present in the first two, and best, games in the series.

Sling flame is so useful it's absurd. Haven't gotten the hang of the

Please tell me what level you guys beat Margit at. Because I definitely went in underleveled and without any weapon upgrades and spent over 4 hours in there. Absolutely pointless but damn satisfying in the end when I finally pulled it off. Those 12k runes put me from lvl 13 to 19. If you consider the average Souls boss generally amounts to 2-3 levels...

Reporting in on this, I was Level 29 or 30 but I'm also trying to run STR/FAI which is a mess so far at lower levels. In the context of the fight, I "wasted" about 6 levels on DEX and INT so I could wield a weapon and cast a miracle that I didn't even end up using. So consider it about Level 24 two-handing a +1 Golden Spear from the Tree Sentinel.

I knew I was unprepared (running a meme str/faith confessor) and underleveled for Margit (15), but I couldn't fuckin concede when I lost a first couple of times, so eventually that turned into a 2 hour effort and some 50 tries at least to do it lmao.

AMD gpus can handle junction temperatures up to 100c, don't worry.

Their drivers, on the other hand, can't handle shit.

I dont get the complaint that some enemies are to strong int he starter zones, wouldnt it feel way more gamey when they are placed exactly like you would progress like in a linear game? Since this is a souls game I also assume you can beat everything level 1 if youre good enough so that makes it even better. I started as a wretched and want to build a mage in armor. So I put all the runes I had from the starting gift in intelligence, which meant i was naked, had a big Club, high Intelligence and no spells. I evaded everything I could and only fought knights normal knights (sword/shield/spear) because they are relatively easy, the worst for me are the heavy knights with the big shield and spear since I cant clubber them to death.

I beat some beastman mini boss in a cave by summoning wolves and runnign away until he was distracted and clubbing him in the back. Wanted to go north west but immediately got shot at with arrows and some big thing jumped down so I changed directions and rode down south east. Found a magic teleporter, used it and died directly afterwards. I also died to bats since they were faster than my big woodstick. I try to get a hang of mounted combat, mostly I hit air. I still dont have any spells but at least I found some pants.

Gaymers feel entitled to beat anything they see without hardship in games these days.

It took me a long time to get used to the game before I stopped considering dropping it (like in the neighbourhood of 3-4 hours of messing around with different starting classes to get a feel for the slightly different weapon speeds/lengths/etc.).

After that, the game started to feel like a weird mashup of Demon's Souls and Dragon's Dogma sans pawns. In my books, that's a pretty great combination to be reminded of. I'm still wrapping my mind around the mounted combat stuff, but I'm getting better at it. I've explored a bit, but am still really early on in the game because I keep swapping characters and farming weapons because half the fun to me is seeing what equipment there is and I'm playing completely blind. I haven't watched videos of the game since the first trailers except for areas that I've played (e.g. watching a guy actually beat the first "boss" to see what it does for you and to marvel at his patience - which I don't share, so I basically watched a bit of the beginning then skipped to the kill).

Completely agreed. The earlier games had easier bosses but they were much more deliberate. I hate the frantic mixup/estuspunish/rangedattackpunish bosses they've been doing since Bloodborne
