Finished the boss at Morne Castle today after about 15 tries with my sorcery guy. Not afraid to admit I used summons to try to keep him off my back but even when I won I only had a tiny sliver of health left and all my flasks were exhausted...

The game is better than I hoped. I'm having a great time. I'm still very early, the first major boss is killing me easily, so I explore.

Regarding a fight:

Horseback fight versus a dragon who creates havoc in the stage with its flames is as glorious it can get. So cool fight!

One thing I loved. I was struggling at level 12 at the castle gate , the first real boss with only the +1 longsword, and wondering why only had found 2 upgrade materials so far. Seemed a little harsh and no vendor selling them.

I decided to explore the world a little more and found a cave with mines and voila! Upgrading materials for my sword and wand!

This is starting to click. I hadn't to roam too much but I went to a suspicious place in the map and got greatly rewarded. Starting to feel sold on the open world.

Nice exploration feel, guys, and I think this can improve!

Was trying to get it to run on windows 7/8.1 but wasn't able to, tried the win 7 patch over on nexus:
https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/12
but doesn't quite want to work for some reason, gives me a white grey screen upon launch and then crashes a few seconds after.
I've got a 2060 super, but the guy says it should work with amd gpu, he's not sure about nvidia, so maybe that's the problem?

Anyone managed to get it to work?

Pirated or Steam version? Might be crucial.

This must have been added after I was done experimenting, so I haven't tried it. At this point I've given up on trying to make it work on my Win 7 PC and am playing on my laptop.

Anyone finished the game yet? Are there enough Stonesword Keys? I assume so but you never know.

Normally I'd say taking the Key as the starting gift is fucking useless because bumrushing the early Key dungeon (Fingernail Hero or some such) on lvl 1 is only for autists like Dist or Happy Hob, plus you'll get one Key right away in Limgrave, but if there aren't enough of them taking it is a must.

Pirated, I don't think it works on steam one anymore due to a small update screwing up the .exe patch you have to do.
But people tried on legit version in comments before, seems to give similar issues.

I took the key as the starting gift and proceeded to waste 2 hours dying to the chariot, the boss and the firebreathing knight in those catacombs :negative:. Killed the knight then went to do other stuff.

Ran around exploring the world, killed 3 optional mini bosses so far. Rescued pot bro and am just about to enter Stormveil castle. Rolling a str char using the 2hander from the starting knights. So far the game is great, I just need to figure out how to use spirit companions. I have 3 of them already, but I can't use them.

Seems like there is a demand for this, but the patch itself is bugged so I'd advise waiting a bit maybe the guy will actually fix it or some other guy will make his own version.

Also I started playing with a new character and it's funny how much content I missed yesterday while trying to speedrun the game. I heard warnings from people that you should beat the tutorial area and reach the open world before deciding if the game's playable because the game performs worse once you reach the open world, so I just ran forward ignoring everything and eventually reached Margit (the sword and hammer guy), which I thought was the "tutorial boss". I tried killing him for an hour or so but then I discovered that I actually missed the tutorial area all together - it's in an optional pit in the very first cave you start in and the tutorial "boss" is some loser foot soldier that dies in 3 hits

Now I'm actually running around and exploring and there are little caves and mini dungeons everywhere far before you're even supposed to reach Margit. Pretty cool.

Went with a DEX/FTH Confessor build, in 5 hours haven't found a single DEX weapon or a miracle, still rocking my starting Broadsword, so happy, 10/10 would go with DEX/FTH again.

I went back to fight the dragon in the swamp at the start of the game. Wasn't too much of a bother with some hit and run tactics with the horse, which turned it into a cool action spectacle at the cost of it feeling insanely clunky. At times It felt like I'd hit the dragon's neck and legs without dealing any damage to it. How does everyone else feel about mounted combat?

So far I feel it might be too OP. Not as bad as Witcher 3 but still, a bit over the budget.

yeah it was fun
use the rocks for cover when he breathes fire and you are out of position

too bad dragon hearts are useless to melee str builds

We're off to the races now. One of those soldier guys kindly dropped his trousers; another one dropped his straight sword.

Concerns about the open world receeding somewhat. Just need to keep focused and not get bogged down in side content.

Something that bugs me is the lazy naming of items.

In Dark Souls we had titanite shards, titanite chunks, titanite slabs for different upgrade tiers. Here it's just "smithing stone [1]", "smithing stone [2]" and "smithing stone [3]".
Same with runes, it's not Rune of a hobo, Rune of a forgotten knight, Rune of renown hero, etc. It's "Golden rune [1]", "Golden rune [2]".

Literally unplayable!

There is enough keys, multiple vendors have them. I think i found three locks so far, the one at the start is most rewarding, nice xp and a necklase.

Any tips on Godric? His 2nd phase wrecks my shit in no time flat
As usual range , its also a lot easier to roll away from the flames , or even just jump over them when he fires . You use the medusa pet and you should also get a warrior girl as summon for this fight. Make sure they arent tanking all the time, they should still have half life on second phase to keep tanking.

Finding the horse movement kinda janky. It accelerates way too fast (it's a horse or a Ferrari) making it hard to control. I've fallen off cliffs a couple times because of it. I hope they patch it later.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
Found Margit pretty easy but then I may have overlevelled it. After being defeated by him once I ran around doing bosses and was level 23 by the time I tried him again.

Does make me wonder whether the people complaining he's too hard are undergeared/levelled.
