It's deterministic wankery if it's not accompanied by appropriate penalties to discipline and morale.

When they have a plot for a title you should be able to imprison him and then revoke their title. For some reason you'll still take the infamy hit for the revocation in some instances, in those cases just keep repeating it until they revolt instead of nicely going to prison. None of this through plotting, it's through the direct diplomacy interactions with the character.
actually i hope they revolt so i can crush them and get the chance to revoke a single title. but i've never ever seen a plot different from "kill this dude".

All that modeling work and yet no one and i mean NO ONE will be able to see that facial hair. Or his face expression.
I mean imagine playing a game of Risk and the one of the players picks up a figurine and says "you know guys this is a really fun game but i would really like if they increase the face details on figurines when they make Risk 2"
Best case scenario this would happen to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvJeATp31dw

:)I'm not trying to preach doom here, it's just that graphical improvements don't really do anything when it comes to these kinds of games, when i look at hundreds of hours i put into Paradox games how many of that time was spent looking at units models? None.
Early total war games did this right. The units on strategic map look exactly like small figurines.

On the other hand if you have detailed enough models you can represent colors and liveries well enough. Like dragons or eagles on the shields or tunics. That stuff is awesome and considering how many coats of arms were there in the period...

Been playing Eu3 DW with Magna Mundi. It's really great but god damn these cascading alliances are a huge game breaker.

It's infuriating to see Portugal wipe Castile and France off the map simply because those two powers are off fighting in Austria and Poland. There should be some sort of Alliance range system or a damn defensive pact.

Who cares, you won't be able to see any of that shit when you are zoomed out far enough to actually play the game.

New dev diary's out:http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...uch-fun...&s=457858c7c9c375d787ed3408d46d7eb0
Dev Diary 19 - War has never been so much fun...

That reinforcements cost money has been mentioned before, and is a great change I think because it'll make war the money sink it was irl and will reduce the incentive for total war. Otherwise it's lots and lots of tweaks.

Saw a neat suggestion in the dev diary thread as well:

I think your ability to supply your troops overseas should be tied to your navy (and to your trade range also), just as the income you get out of colonies is tied to number of warships you have. That way we would not see 30k european stacks in India. Above your supply limit you should get a big amount of attrition, or reduced org.

Prolly a great way to avoid the euro monster stacks in india/america problem.

In EU2 you had to pay for every single new soldier which made quantity and aristocracy cheaper inf/cav modifiers very important in considering your overall strategy. EU3 way of making reinforcements free diminishes the value of those cheaper units modifiers. Since i am all for making sliders balanced on both extremes reinforcements costing money in EU4 is a good thing for me.

Sliders have been removed, replaced with an expanded idea system. You can have both quantity and quality if you'd like, at the expense of something else of course.

Also terrain and tech effecting combat width is awesome, this is the first paradox game that does this right?

HoI definately used tech for width, don't know if it used terrain, although as I recall you got more width by attacking from multiple provinces. The free reinforcements of EU3 were always kind of annoying because it didn't really matter if your units got smashed as long as you saved 1 man you could reinforce it back to full for free.

Free reinforcements sucked but remember that you paid less maintenance for depleted units. But frankly I preferred EU2 system entirely, especially since you could field 70k armies from a single province and didnt have to click a million times to do so.

I'm disturbed. Is it the 1st Paradox game I shall buy day 1?
