I just discovered Fallout: London has not one, but at least 3 open areas filled with locations and encounters. The map of London along the Thames is already huge, but yesterday I crossed the gate and entered Hackney, and there is also the map around Westminster.

An already large game turned out to be even larger.

I just have some questions. Story-wise, is it on a monorail? Quests/choices&Consequences-wise is it, theoretically, more similar to FNV? I didn't like FNV for its shallowness, but it had a lot of C&C and possibilities to branch your story.

And, always FNV-alike: skills, choices, factions, perks, do really influence your gameplay and interactions with the world around you?

Because I fear it could be more related to FO3 and FO4 gameplay (Skyrim in post-apocalyptic times).

There are numerous factions you can join, three of them major ones, one of them you need to complete the game.

Major quests often have several solutions, some of them cause different reactions from npcs.

Skills and perks do influence your gameplay. I am not sure how deep the faction gameplay is, too early in my playthrough.

Unfortunately some scripts are stil broken so I'm not sure if some things I saw are bugs or perhaps features :)

I would not play it right now, anyway. I hope bugs/strange features will be corrected over time.

I played on 'normal' difficulty and had piles of ammo and stims. That one early boss was tough. Trash mobs and vermin were not. Difficulty is harder at low levels but eventually plateaus. There were more than a few locations I had to bail from and revisit later. I was one-shotting the 'deathclaw' by mid game. The level scaling is there but isn't as bad as FO4.

Don't take it too hard. Mortmal is legendarily bad at RPGs. I mean, he thinks Solasta is difficult

He is right, though, that whoever pushes that awful "Fallout 4 is a good game but a bad Fallout game"-line should be fucking beheaded. Fallout 4 is one of the worst piece of shit games I've ever played

That is not true Grunko and you know it.
He just thinks it goes against the regulated encounters-per-rest ratio.

You’re leaving out the fact that the point he was responding to was that the game was so easy and the encounter design so bad that *I didn’t need to rest*. In this thread he is arguing that a mod which codexers can play on high difficulty is quote “completely unplayable” on very easy.

It’s the standard Mortmal thing tbh

You mean a concise and factual approach to game design, free from bias and without blindly following trends or popular opinion, while applying critical reasoning worthy of Descartes? Well, if you don't trust my judgment, go ahead guys , listen to Grunker, who must think that facing a modded super mutant with tons of HP, capable of killing you in one hit while you dodge it, running around in your underwear with a knife around four shelves, is great game design, fun, and a model for boss fights.

Most of the modding scene is pretty bland around Fallout 4. There are certainly some medium to large scale mods of note, but nothing that I would consider very good. If it's just adding things like guns, power armor, settlement related, quality of life, and other various fluff mods, then there is plenty. But if you didn't like Fallout 4 as a whole, then there is nothing that will make it worth playing. Compared to the Skyrim mod scene, Fallout 4 is lacking, terribly. To be expected for a variety of reasons. If you just want to add on top of Fallout 4 to enhance things you like, to strip away irritants, then the mod scene is serviceable.

The threads around Fallout 4 are pretty dead here. But if you want to play at some point and want to talk about what you want to do with modding the game, then either of these threads would suffice.

In other news, FOLON just got its 1.02 patch which promises to be a chunky one. The dev team are also desperately trying to be polite in reminding people to RTFM for installation.



But my personal highlight is what they didn't comment on, and that's any incoming support for the "NEXT GEN, TRUST ME BRO" edition. :smug:
