Where's Team "These games are best at their original resolution on a CRT TV" now?

Me and it is true. If you go with original game then you need to emulate also scanlines because that low res art was designed with those black lines in mind. The whole point of this is to trick your brain into filling those places effectively making it higher res than it is.
Which means for example almost no aliasing despite using very low resolution.

That is the same idea how your brain sees tv picture despite the fact that each line displayed vanishes after next line when it creates picture and yet you see full picture instead of one line at the time.

But here you have effectively AI adding missing detail which would be reproduced by your brain (neural networks in your brain lol) creating high res picture

Can it be downloaded somewhere? Is it playable? PC or PSX emu version?

Yes it is actual mod you can install on PC version of FFIX

Meanwhile at PC. I soo fucking love art design and location design of FF9.

FF9 has the best setting and art of any Final Fantasy. And it's not even close. FF6 and FF7 are just fantasy steampunk/dieselpunk respectively. FFX is just boring. FFXII has some absolutely GORGEOUS locations. But FF9 is "fantasy" at its highest, more beautiful form.

The only downside is that Zidane touches my girl's butt and ends up with her.

What I always liked, and wished they'd explored more of, was the mist dividing the continent up into an archipelago of plateaus.

That plus the ships powered by, and sailing upon, the mist should have been the focus of their own game.

Looks like garbage.
Protip: if you are going to make your game cinematic, make it good. None of this "the camera is shaking all over the fucking place and you can't make out anything".
CDPR, again, showed how it is done with Cyberpunk 2077's cinematic trailer.

Also Barrett sounds NOTHING like I expect him to, which is more Mr. T-like. The voice sounds too forced, too acted and not natural at all.

Heidegger is even worse. In a way, I think he embodies what's fundamentally wrong with the remake that's all rooted in the total change of aesthetic: It simply cannot work because the original followed conventions of a manga or anime, you can't make a character like Heidegger photorealistic without losing EVERYTHING about the character.

A bit like a photorealistic Dr. Robotnik, yes. But perhaps they think there's all these live action versions of popular anime as dramas/movies, so it'll be perfectly fine.

Of course, that's premised on the assumption that those adaptations aren't fundamentally wrong either...

Oh boy, we're subscribing to "grunting and moaning to fill in dead air" school of FF13 VA. Great.

square enix is intellectually dead. This remake is basically crisis core. Except cut in 4 different games probably all $60 bucks. They should of just made a movie instead of calling this a final fantasy 7 remake. I dont know how a video game company can fall so far.

4? they still haven't showed anything past the first mission. At this point it will be 4 episodes just for midgar. It's a travesty how they keep mistreating the FF brand, they're clueless.

Yea the amateur night anime dub VAs really drag the trailer down, I've always disliked dubs pretty much for that reason. Maybe I'm a weeb but I mean, look at the typical anime dub and then look at something made for the western audience, there's a wide gulf of talent between someone like Jim Cummings, Mark Hamill, or John Dimaggio compared to the core anime dub VA group, who after decades of work still sound like they're capturing the original performance with all the skill and grace of a dying black swan.

At least Barret sounds vaguely like Corey Holcomb. I mean we only got one clear line from the guy and it sounds nothing like how Barret should sound but at least Holcomb is a fairly talented guy, IMO, so if they retain some of Barret's angrier lines in the remake he should be able to pull it off alright. He played the deadbeat dad in the Family Guy spin-off "The Cleveland Show" and one of the main characters in "Black Jesus".

That looked awesome.

Never thought I would, but I have to agree. Was totally cynical about this until I saw the gameplay footage. Those boss battles look amazing, and I'm fine with the action RPG combat mixed with the ATB/Tactical Mode. If they actually make it challenging, or offer a "Hard" mode, I could see it really turning into something great.

Though... it is Nomura.

Good thing they got rid of slow turn based combat so you can plink away at a boss in realtime for 30 minutes.
