This reviewer certainly has his way with words, I'll give him that.

"This is not a turn based strategy game. ... This a turn based simulation of a strategy game".

:philosoraptor:
His reviews have gotten worse with time, and after listening to some of his podcasts, I just don't bother with any of his content anymore.

He has an obvious brain damage problem, he keeps forgetting about shit during the podcast, calling games and developers by the wrong names, making shit up, etc.

Games from the 90s were something different.

The reviews for the game seem to pretty good thus far.

Means nothing. These people praised Xcom or F4 as well

Identity aside, Hafer's their usual strategy person so it shouldn't be the typical idea of an IGN review. From watching the video it seems the maps are a lot more open than most expected which is nice

After finishing watching, it was played with 1 squad (all marksmen) and on normal, causing a glut of money. Not how I'd play but at least it's helpful to know, a shame there's no Bobby Ray's since a cool part of being a merc leader is ordering up plane shipments of guns.

Cohh is streaming right now. Too retarded to link. Retardation rectified.

Watched it.

The game seems tentatively decent.

Cohh sucked ass playing it though.

Writing and characters were horrifying cringe though, the only way to play this would be to kill everything in sight before it speaks.

From what I can see this is definitely a nuXcom version of JA2. You can teleport items between party members during combat (for AP cost) and soldiers have perks and free movement abilities and all other things you expect from a modern Xcom game.
Missing from short range is common while melee seems more effective than using guns.
It will probably still be a fun game but this is not a true successor to JA2. They basically gave up on simulation.
