I think a good way to look at this game is by looking at these guys' previous games. Operation Flashpoint was very similar, in that when most shooters had you going through tight spaces full of bad guys and constant run and gun action, OF consisted of huge open areas, with relatively few enemies, and a much slower pace. And yet, it also had some of the most intense, thriling sequences of any game I've ever played, because of its realism and cool combat. Crawling on your belly for real time hours through enemy controlled territory while holding your breath was way more internse than the constant shooting in other games.

Mafia was also somewhat similar to this, in that it had enjoyable combat, a cool story, and a lesurely pace. So I guess my point is, if these guys can produce an interesting and challenging combat system, an interesting story, and some intersting low-key things in the world, that will be enough to create quality gameplay, and you won't need all the typical bs people look for (dragons, elves, magical loot, demonic invasions), which are just really veils to cover up the absence of interesting gameplay and writing.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
This problem is encountered in every open world game where the gameplay is composed of "building blocks" of repetitive minigames - Mount and Blade, Witcher 3 (sure, its quests and sidequests are very unique and unlike each other, but there is still repetition, and you have the huge number of collectibles, treasure chests, monster nests, etc.), Skyrim, Sid Meier's Pirates, etc.

I don't see how it was a problem in MnB, or even Pirates.

What do you know about my mindset, or of what is a realistic, down to earth representation of Middle Ages Bohemia, or about what I am looking for?

Your name is AwesomeButton, I know EVERYTHING about your mindset! EVERYTHING!

The kind of gameplay you are describing (aka "radiant quests") grows dull in 10-20 hours for any human being of average intelligence. What's left afterwards is what I'm describing - a player rushes from one spot to the next, avoiding any filler activities or encounters on the way. What used to be playing, becomes a chore. I'm not saying the game will definitely turn out this way, but it's very easy to mess up the pacing and frustrate the player in an open world game.

Not really, I was describing stuff you do in between quests, or maybe as part of some quests. But there will be a very non-radiant main storyline, as well as unique and hand-written side quests, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Nice PR piece. Notice nobody asked for nothing of that.

Meh, I've been accused of being a KCD shill since pretty much joining the Codex, just because I happen to like the premise. I am not that much of a shill, if people bring up valid criticism, I can dig it, but a lot of it so far is just silly stuff, like, oh I don't see epic shitz everywhere, it must be dull and boring.

I thought we were discussing a game, and actually we were discussing a means of realization of nationalist wet dreams.

I really sympathize with Vavra but I can't help being skeptical about this being fun to play as an open-world game. I've explained why, and also why I think M&B's approach is the best.

You've explained plenty but hey, feel free to explain some more, maybe at some point the entire KCD thread will collectivelly say "This man can't stop making good points, KCD is so much more garbage than M&B, what were we thinking."

The who-sites?
Hus, Jan Hus. The game covers time span of year 1403 - too early to see any Hussites, since he was a respected member of The University of Prague in 1403.
hm I thought that the future episodes would take place over a few decades but fuck if I know when Zizka actually started stomping the crusaders into the mud.

No, I doubt that. Some people want to believe, others only care that the game is Czech. Let's see if it turns out any good.

Also, that's a pathetic strawmanning attempt.

There is a lot more then the Hussites, but i agree that the Hussites are the most famous ones of the Regnum Bohemia. But i have read somewhere that there will be also the Battle of Tannenberg / Grunwald against the teutonic knights (Ordo fratrum domus Sanctae Mariae Teutonicorum Ierosolimitanorum) or short OT for Ordo Teutonicus. So Jan Žižka and Johann Sokol the Falcon will be in the game. Also i would like to see it brought to Jan Hus trial where Zawisza Czarny was one of the defender of Jan Hus. If we have luck then we will also meet the antogoinist in this times of Weneceslaus IV of Bohemia the idle his younger half brother Sigismund of Luxemburg and his right 'black' hand man Stibor of Stiboricz.
