i dont think ive ever played around disarm mechanic. enchantment specialist or warlock that uses that one psionic ability to increase DC coupled with Bard's song that gives another +1 to DC. usually does a good job of keeping dangerous enemies away from party. for annoying spellcasters i just grapple or trip with either grease or monk.

Disarm is nice because it's so low cost and easy to apply. I like to have it for a few specific instances but once you do you can just fire it off whenever and really reduces the lethality of some potentially dicey situations.

I use Arcane Rhyme more than the other songs (especially once it hits +2) but tend to be more aggressive about establishing a salient rather than hanging back. Then use that salient for good spell/attack positioning.

1. Yeah you make it bit hard to point out but yw.
2. This is for you to discover.
3. I'll try not to stumble here. +8 ain't much for MEDIOCRE EFFECT used against MELEE ENEMIES holding 1-HANDED ARMS that have TRIP IMMUNITY.
4. Not going into details here, but again wouldn't say 3 attempts on 70-90% to disable enemy completely is less reliable than 98% for stripping move action from enemy
5. Get a grip, if there's any echoing you keep hearing it means you have too much space between your ears.
6. That'd be good point for taking the feat in some other module.

Whatever, man. Just try it - you'll see. Being wrong about things then improving is the fun of games like this.

Thanks for the tip on doing crypt first. Tried it tonight and I think it definitely flows better. Gob fight always felt like a little much at that point.

This game is really, really fucking good. Just a little past the sewer goblin war. The simple graphics allow a huge variety of enemies who all tend to require a different strategy to beat. Encounter design is top notch. Some fights are attritional others short and brutal.

It's a crime against humanity that the graphics will mean this game will stay niche even among RPG fans. I agree that the tokens are much more functional and clear (some of the hand-drawn token art is even fairly decent and evocative, no idea why the god-awful ancient 3D renders are the default icon pics).

:bro::bro::bro::bro::bro::bro::bro::bro:

There is few games which are this replayable.
I didn't play a game over and over like this one since the original UFO: Enemy Unknown.

The first two chapters are amazing and chapter 3 is also really good outside of a few encounters like the slimes and the air elementals.

Anyone who like tactical combat and played it on lower difficulties should work their way up when they feel like replaying it and try Archmage at some point, it's just amazing.

And about the tokens, Satan's pack will replace all the tokens made from ugly 3D models.

Let's talk about some choices in game. What rewards do you take when presented with choice?
For example I took the robe instead of 80k in act 2. Robe is really good but i later had second thoughts about the 80k. That's a nice sum of money and can buy something really nice.
Act 1, i took the armour, which is nice but maybe a star diamond is better?
If someone thinks there a spoilers in the answers, then, put in spoilers, duh.

I could have given this tip for free but you probably would't listen to me.
Bonus points for doing everything with and for greys and then betraying them.

Of course I would listen to you. Disagreement (as opposed to knee jerk defensiveness) presupposes listening then I test things and sometimes turn out to be wrong and revise my views.

I’m not big on all-out murder-hoboing so we’ll see. First time thru I fought Greys first and Greens have some nice stuff for sale but seems like that locks you out of Grey area altogether?

Is getting Pizarra before the Pal (and leaving Crones alive) the way you guys do it?

If you want to craft, 80K are nice, if you have a lot of casters, then the robe is just great.
I never took the armor but now there's a speed "bonus", it could be interesting, I usually pick the trident or the star, depending of what i need the most.
If you want to attune 2 mages (or 1 + Erz), there's not a lot of star diamonds, I didn't count but maybe 3/4 ?

I always do the crypt first, rats give you 2 resting spots so you can rest before cleaning the area and then before going through the crypt and afterwards, greys offer unilimited resting, not that you need it.
As for the merchandise, I suppose it depends what you can buy, afford and can't find anywhere else compared to what the greens have to offer.
Mostly, if you craft early, you can't buy much.

Yes, I usually save the crones for later because of their shop, you get way more money if you clear most of the upper sewers first.
On the other hand, if you wait too much (and level up), you lose a lot of xp.

Last but not least, Asharazelle is not worth the gems required to get her, earth gems are scarce, fire gems shouldn't be used either (skewer and other cool enchantments) and star gems are extremely valuable as well.
And you can't spend all your air gems if you want to enchant a weapon from scratch (necessary for +1 before other enchantments)

You mean that it's a heavy armour that only gives 5 speed penalty instead of 10? It didn't in earlier versions then?

The trident would be very nice - except spears is the last type of weapon i'd take normally. Unless I have a gladiator, that would mean using 1 additional feat or planning it from the start. A fighter could have taken it, I suppose. It is also a nice weapon for storm warrior if you want to make use of his class feats (not that they are that great) but the water elemental npc doesn't have it either and doesn't have many feats to spare.

Thanks for your opinion anyway. I only have 1 wizard so i might take 80k this game.

No, It was just modified (1.32 or 1.33) because it was the worst reward by far.
And yes, it's nice for a gladiator as for planning weapon feats, it goes without saying, there's a couple of good weapons you can base your builds on.

I had one Air left (I.e. I spent 7 Airs) when I got her, but yeah not big on starting from scratch tho maybe should be? Seems like some of the found stuff is pretty good and some come with extras.

Knights of the Chalice 2 Version 1.34
Hello everyone! This is another important update for KotC 2. Here is the complete list of changes in version 1.34:

  • Expanded the Inventory Screen in full-screen mode. You now have much bigger boxes for party members, party items, and items on the floor.
  • Added 'Ready Versus' information to the tooltip that is displayed during combat when you mouse over a creature in the information mode. Also added the same information to the tooltip that's displayed when mousing over creatures in the initiative list on the right side of the screen.
  • Fixed the game freeze that could occur when the AI was trying to cast Dispel Magic or Greater Dispel Magic. It was quite difficult for me to fix this bug. Fortunately, I was able to create a battle setup that would reproduce the bug 100% of the time. In fact, it was related to scripted spells and the AI setting allowing a creature to help a specific ally. This would create errors when the specified ally is defeated.
  • Improved the AI for Dispel Magic and Greater Dispel Magic.
  • Fixed a bug in the movement of some monsters like the Giant Bees in the Prologue.
  • Fixed an error in the Strength check message when trying to pull the sword in the stone in the Green Cave.
  • Fixed an inventory item display problem when picking up a stackable item like a potion of Cure Light Wounds and you already have items of the same type in your inventory. The item was picked up but the inventory display wasn't refreshed, so it seemed like the item disappeared.
  • Fixed a crash when switching to the Psionics tab in the Character Sheet in the Windows version only.
  • Fixed a display bug when reloading while the player was mousing over the combat-actions menu.
  • Fixed bugs in the diplomacy and intimidate dialogue answers when the player asks the Coven of the Four Crones about leaving the sewers.
  • Fixed the item check and Experience Point award when you try to cross the chasm leading to the battle arena of the Goblin tribes for the first time.
  • Fixed the script that runs after you slay the Giant Spiders in the Mysterious Cave containing the Lava Rift if you've used diplomacy to save Garett and Perry from the Giant Spiders before fighting them.
  • Improved the item description for Gold Ingots and other ingots.
  • You can now click two times on column headers to sort lists in the reverse order. For example, you can click two times on '#' in the Load Saved Game window to sort the list from low to high, then from high to low.
  • Fixed problems with the Spiked Gauntlets. When you equip them, any other weapons and any shield currently held by the character will now be moved to your backpack automatically.
  • In the macOS version, fixed a display problem in the Inventory Screen. Also, in the macOS version, when switching from full-screen mode to windowed mode, the window will be centred automatically.

Please feel free to email me at enquiries@heroicfantasygames.com if you find any crashes or freezes in version 1.34, or if you have any feedback or suggestions. A saved game may be very helpful as part of a bug report. Thank you!

Alternatively, please feel free to post in the Steam forum or in the HeroicFantasyGames.com forums.

Thank You So Much For Your Support, Valiant Heroes of the Realm! Enjoy! ^_^

What tavern fight? The one with the golem or with Jorad? The latter was fixed one patch ago but maybe it was broken again in the last one?

golem, other ppl have same problem

Those are some really ugly faces. With the exception of Driaghan. He is prettier than all those women. Even as a swamp elemental.

Well it's very minor then, just a bit of exp. I keep the last 2 previous versions (GOG) just in case Pierre breaks something when fixing other things. On Steam, i don't know. Possibly you could revert to the previous patch and apply the latest patch after the fight. It worked fine in 1.33.

only first half. second is too much pew-pew and initiative rng fest. you are forced to play caster heavy parties which i don't really like that much.

I don't think you're forced into anything, it's just easier and you wouldn't dare to try it.
What's an heavy caster party?
More than half?

I believe a 2 caster party is suitable out of 8, would it qualify as a non caster heavy party?
It looks like an interesting challenge.

Something like this:
  • Paladin
  • Fighter
  • Rogue
  • Samurai
  • Barbarian
  • Psychic Warrior (companion)
  • Cleric/Bishop/Druid or even psychic healer
  • Pizarra (Warlock)

It's a 2/8 caster party with some hybrids, paladin for the aura and a secondary healer, if you can't pew pew, you'll need healers.
I'm not sure the Paladin features are all working; like the protective aura; but as soon as I know it is, I'll jump in.

So, what do you say Reinhardt ?

you said it yourself -
interesting CHALLENGE
after all your replays and knowing correct order of fights and locations of key equips you are not even sure it will work.
i'm not saying it's wrong - men in dresses need some campaigns to play too, it's just augury is not module i see myself replaying often just to try different dress.

Of curse it will work. Any game played non-ironman can be beaten assuming you play well enough to create the opportunity. It is only a matter of number of reloads. With 100% melee it would be beyond realistic or even mathematical possibility but with two casters and competent play - i am sure it's a matter of patience.
