5:3 for dragon trouble.

And since you're hungry for sweaty buttseckz as reward for helping the damsel in distress, we will liberate the tower!

rom0502.jpg

But first, we hire the amazon.

rom0504.jpg

rom0505.jpg

rom0506.jpg

rom0507.jpg

Off we go! Soundtrack for this episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKcuPnkG-mM

rom0508.jpg

Uh... 'normally'?

rom0509.jpg

rom0510.jpg

She trusts in our abilities. How lovely.

rom0512.jpg

Igles will investigate what's beyond the bridge.

rom0513.jpg

We can't stay here. This is bat country...

... HOLY SHIT

rom0514.jpg

Well folks, here's a foretaste of what we'll be facing at the very end of the game. These were max-level bats, and they needed barely three hits to take Igles down.

timewarp. Let's try going around the bridge.

rom0515.jpg

Green wolves. These we can fight.

rom0516.jpg

But wait, what is this? Our party of heroes attacks the wolves, but the other mage is healing them!

rom0517.jpg

There is only one punishment for treason.

rom0518.jpg

Death.

rom0519.jpg

rom0520.jpg

So it was a trap after all!!!

Who didn't see that coming?

rom0521.jpg

Apart from a ring giving a token defence bonus, the mage didn't drop anything worthwhile.

rom0522.jpg

After we killed the chambermaid, the uberbats magically disappeared *shrug*

rom0523.jpg

Level 2 giant bees.

rom0524.jpg

While exploring the countryside, I got a little careless and Kingcomrad was torn apart by squirrels.

rom0525.jpg

Level 2 turtles. Igles can barely hit them due to their high defence, but fortunately, Kingcomrad has a magical staff with a knob on the end.

rom0526.jpg

Some more squirrels.

rom0527.jpg

And a pack of wolves.

And after these not particularly interesting encounters with wild animals, we finally get close to the dragon's lair.

We are even warmly greeted by our host!

rom0528.jpg

rom0529.jpg

rom0530.jpg

THAR SHE BLOWS.

Same tactics as before. Kingcomrad stays behind and heals, Igles and the amazon shoop for great justice.

rom0531.jpg

And since we have the amazon, we actually do some damage this time.

rom0532.jpg

rom0533.jpg

almost there...

rom0534.jpg

And after like 10 minutes of shooting and healing, the dragon is finally down.

rom0535.jpg

rom0536.jpg

Damn right.

Apart from 5000 gold and another 4000 from the dragon's corpse, most of the stuff here is junk.

rom0537.jpg

We can head back to town.

rom0539.jpg

We sell all the crap and buy Igles some new boots and bracers.

rom0540.jpg

rom0541.jpg

rom0543.jpg

Since the amazon doesn't want to join us for the next mission...

rom0544.jpg

rom0545.jpg

We'll have to postpone the second dragon-related quest.

rom0542.jpg

Next stop: Negrodancer base!

Now that I think about it, this update was so short and barely anything happened in it, that I should have played through this mission and the Negrodancer base in one update.

Well, this update will only have the rebel negrodancer base, as both this and the second dragon missions are pretty hueg, when compared to the besieged tower.

rom0546.jpg

My gut instinct tells me we should get the warrior hireling.

rom0547.jpg

rom0548.jpg

rom0549.jpg

rom0550.jpg

Establishing battlefield control. Standby...

rom0551.jpg

rom0552.jpg

If I remember right, taking any of these routes will somehow bite us in the arse, but we'll take the northern one.

rom0553.jpg

Battle control online. The moment we land here, we're greeted by a level 2 skeleton.

rom0554.jpg

rom0555.jpg

So we go north. And we're confronted by an undead mob.

rom0556.jpg

Igles tanks the minions, while the mercenary rushes to hack up the necro. Kingcomrad stays back and heals.

You have absolutely no idea, how easier everything is when you take a mage hero at the start. With a warrior hero, we'd have to pretty much postpone all missions until we got the third party member.

rom0557.jpg

But wait, what is this? While pwning these undead, another group comes in from behind to raep us!

rom0558.jpg

rom0559.jpg

rom0560.jpg

Same story. Igles tanks, merc chops the necro.

rom0561.jpg

Another group of undead is closing in from behind! The bastards!

rom0562.jpg

rom0563.jpg

But soon, they're nothing but useless bones.

These two groups of undead that attacked us after the initial mob were the troops guading the central and southern paths. Yup, all three mobs were connected for our convenience.

rom0564.jpg

rom0565.jpg

Going through the desert, we find talking trees.

rom0566.jpg

rom0567.jpg

A SPY.

rom0568.jpg

rom0569.jpg

rom0570.jpg

rom0571.jpg

We get a good view of the northern defences up here. These green thingies are spiders. Nasty bunch, they attack and run superfast, hit rather hard, but at least die quickly. At later levels, I think they can also poison you.

rom0572.jpg

And some skeletons.

rom0573.jpg

Central defences.

rom0574.jpg

rom0575.jpg

Some spiders in the east.

rom0576.jpg

And the eastern defences.

rom0577.jpg

Some zombies and a zombie crossbowman.

Well, I can't really say these are particularly easier than the other approaches. They're mostly on par, but whatev.

rom0578.jpg

Some more sucky zombies.

rom0579.jpg

HOLY SHI...

rom0580.jpg

Uh... rrrrrrrrright. Let's secure the area before advancing.

rom0582.jpg

rom0583.jpg

rom0584.jpg

rom0585.jpg

rom0586.jpg

FFFFUUUUUU...

rom0587.jpg

RUN, RUN, RUN

But while running, we lose the merc (while they are expendable and don't provoke a MISSION FAILED message, we don't want to lose them) so we reload.

rom0588.jpg

These two zombies are not connected and need to go.

rom0589.jpg

Right. Now all that is left here is the supermob. There are three negrodancers and like... 6 skeletons, I think.

We'll try hit'n'run tactics. Lure them in, kill one skelly, run away.

rom0590.jpg

The combined barrage of the necromancers and their skeletal minions is too much for Kingcomrad to outheal. But we slay one skeleton.

rom0591.jpg

RRRRRRUUUUUUUUUN.

rom0592.jpg

rom0593.jpg

FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU... Well, the undead horde never really loses interest, so hit'n'run is out of the question.

rom0596.jpg

We'll try to tank with Igles, while the merc flanks them and chops up the negrodancers.

rom0597.jpg

rom0598.jpg

Okay, they're distracted. GO GO GO.

rom0599.jpg

But as he approaches, the wizards change their targets from Igles to the merc.

rom0600.jpg

He manages to take one down, but then falls to the ground, yet he's still alive (since Rage of Mages 2 is a True RPG (TM), characters with 0 hp are uncouncious and lose hp over time, and eventually die at like -10, I think).

Maybe if we hurry, we'll manage to heal him.

rom0601.jpg

rom0602.jpg

Nope, he died.

:rage:

But this gave me another idea.

We place the merc in his previous position, and we'll have him lure out the skeletons. After that, Igles (healed by Kingcomrad) will rush in and chop up the wizards.

rom0604.jpg

THAR SHE BLOWS.

rom0605.jpg

Igles moves in.

rom0606.jpg

Kills one. So far so good.

rom0607.jpg

But then, some skeletons stop chasing the mercenary and target Kingcomrad who is forced to run away.

rom0609.jpg

Which means no healing for Igles...

rom0613.jpg

Another attempt.

rom0614.jpg

But out of no particular reason, the necroes and skellies charge Igles's position instead of the merc.

rom0615.jpg

Even though the hireling managed to lure some out

rom0616.jpg

Three spellcasters are too much to handle.

Timewarp again...

rom0618.jpg

This looks promising.

rom0619.jpg

RUSH!!!!!

rom0620.jpg

And the mages target KC who dies in a few seconds.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

reload again...

rom0623.jpg

Run, hireling, run!

rom0624.jpg

Igles descends with the fury of his raging previous incarnations.

rom0625.jpg

yes...

rom0626.jpg

Yes...

rom0627.jpg

YES!!!! HAHAHA, ALL NECROES DOWN.

But there are skeletons hitting Kingcomrad.

I AM NOT DOING ANOTHER RELOAD, YOU ASSHOLES.

rom0628.jpg

rom0629.jpg

Igles intercepts KC's attacker.

rom0630.jpg

And hacking down the remaining undead is a piece of cake.

rom0631.jpg

rom0632.jpg

Damn fucking right.

But before we head back to town, there's loot to be had.

rom0633.jpg

In the centre of the negrodancer base, we find a bag with this mithril scale mail.

rom0634.jpg

Significantly better than Igles's previous one.

rom0635.jpg

We also murder this necromancer spy.

Why?

rom0636.jpg

Because he drops a lot of cash :smug:

rom0637.jpg

NOW we can go back.

rom0638.jpg

Having sold all the junk

rom0639.jpg

Igles buys himself a new pair of gauntlets.

rom0640.jpg

While Kingcomrad gets a bitchin' new staff.

This mission was tough. Next stop: Dragon Trouble 2

Use brain? On what? He has two spells and three party members top. How many strategies are there?

I am disappointed. I remember playing this game (or the first part) with friends on LAN and it was great fun. But it looks very dumbed down with unbalanced difficulty.

Well, technically WW2 generals had 0 spells...

He used different approaches to win the last big encounter -> brain. Maybe he could have thought about the attack beforehand. But its game. Trial and error are faster.

Some people here believe that TB is more tactical than RT, dont be one of them.

Was there some other post before this one? Because it seems a little out of the blue.

Keep in mind that this is barely the beginning. More azzraep will come in the future, especially in various missions with orcs.

Oh yes, Orcs are well-know rapists.

Your LP forced me to think about buying used copy of RoM2. I used to have one but I lost it years ago.

So, if you will not supply me with steady updates I will be forced to buy the game, which will be a major decline of myself ;)

laclongquan, your rahrah in the tactical LP threads is a bit annoying. Tone it down, will ya?

Also, did the hireling die in the final attempt or not?

Nope, you can see him on the final screens. He just had to take a long detour through the starting area, because he was chased by skeletons.

BTW, Photobucket is sending me spam mail that I'm exceeding bandwidth, so if you can't see the screens, return on the 1st of May, when the bandwidth limit will get reset.

[Message from the future, November 2018: Lol 2010 Roxorowski, you silly goose]

rom0642.jpg

Since we're after dragons again, we need the services of the amazon.

rom0646.jpg

rom0647.jpg

rom0648.jpg

rom0649.jpg

rom0650.jpg

Sup, headman

rom0651.jpg

rom0652.jpg

rom0653.jpg

rom0654.jpg

Splendid. As always, let's take a stroll around the lovely countryside.

rom0655.jpg

Oh noes, a troll. Pff, they were no challenge in the first mission, so why should they be here.

rom0656.jpg

A quick barrage of firebolts to the face takes it down.

rom0658.jpg

To the east, we find signs of foul negromancy. But they're just random wild undead, without any negrodancers around.

rom0660.jpg

And to the south, an ogre + level 2 bats.

rom0661.jpg

Running away a bit, the ogre loses interest and we're free to engage the vermin.

rom0662.jpg

Afterwards, we return to the ogre.

rom0663.jpg

BUT THE BITCH IS NOT ALONE.

rom0664.jpg

AND THE OTHER BITCH IS NOT ALONE EITHER.

rom0665.jpg

God, prismatic spray (sorta like chain lightning) would be lovely now.

rom0666.jpg

After these silly encounters, we get back on the road and find another village.

rom0667.jpg

Considering the burnt down buildings, I guess this is the village harrassed by the dragon.

rom0668.jpg

rom0669.jpg

rom0670.jpg

rom0671.jpg

rom0672.jpg

What the hell. So they need to call mercenaries from the capital instead of asking the mages for advice themselves?

rom0673.jpg

Sum more undead.

rom0674.jpg

Aaaaaand a succubus, with bat support.

rom0675.jpg

rom0676.jpg

rom0677.jpg

The amazon nearly dies from a volley of fireballs, but the enemy forces are defeated.

rom0678.jpg

This is probably the island the headman mentioned.

rom0679.jpg

rom0680.jpg

rom0681.jpg

Notice the dialogue avatar's different robe from the one in-game.

rom0682.jpg

rom0683.jpg

So we head off to the mountains.

rom0684.jpg

Oh-oh. This green ogre, is a level 2 ogre.

rom0685.jpg

They hit really fucking hard, and have a rather high defence. Kingcomrad can't outheal the damage, and Igles soon needs to run, or he'll be beaten into the ground.

rom0686.jpg

So, thus begin the supertactical manuevers...

rom0688.jpg

Igles will run around the ogre house with the ogre chasing him, while Kingcomrad and the amazon shoop.

Lame?

Yes.

rom0690.jpg

Silly?

Yes.

rom0691.jpg

Damn effective?

Ayup.

rom0692.jpg

rom0693.jpg

rom0694.jpg

rom0695.jpg

FFFFFUUUUUU, this is like a giant FedEx quest.

rom0696.jpg

On the other side of the river we're greeted by a succubus and friends.

rom0697.jpg

They're no match for our combined forces.

rom0698.jpg

After that we find some... outpost? full of mages.

rom0699.jpg

rom0700.jpg

rom0701.jpg

rom0702.jpg

sigh...

rom0703.jpg

rom0704.jpg

rom0705.jpg

So... The village is surrounded by a gazillion mages.

And apparently, the only thing it takes to defeat the dragon is throw some magic potion at him...

...

AND FOR THIS THEY NEED TO HIRE MERCENARIES? WAT?

rom0706.jpg

No matter. This bridge will lead us to the dragon's lair.

rom0707.jpg

Our wunderwaffe.

rom0708.jpg

And our wicked adversary. Note the colour: black dragons are level 4, which means we'd be fucked without any wunderwaffe.

Fortunately, he's non-aggressive unless we attack him first.

rom0709.jpg

rom0710.jpg

Or if we approach him with the potion.

rom0711.jpg

rom0712.jpg

rom0713.jpg

And thus, the dragon gets de-leveled back to level 1.

Haha. Sucker

rom0714.jpg

rom0715.jpg

Again, amazon and Igles shoop, while KC heals. Standard procedure.

rom0716.jpg

Soon, the dragon dies.

rom0717.jpg

And we win. BUT we don't leave the map yet, oh no.

rom0718.jpg

rom0719.jpg

Because both villages are willing to show their appreciation o/

rom0720.jpg

Afterwards, there's nothing left to do, so we return to town, and buy Kingcomrad a new spell. Who knows, maybe it'll come in handy.

rom0721.jpg

No reloads? You are getting better OR this game is meant to be played with hirelings.

BTW what stops You fro buying more powerful spells? I think something more than firebolt and heal would be nice.
