Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I have completed these games released in 2021. I came here because rusty_shackleford has a video of me belly dancing, and I don't want him to release it to the public. I played six games, but I only nominate four of them.

Biomutant
Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars

DUNGEON ENCOUNTERS
Knights of the Chalice 2
Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos
Bravely Default II

The first two are 6/10 games. The other games are good to great.

Archolos, with KotC2 waiting in my backlog. Nothing else really grabbed me.

Archolos [ checkmark ]

When is BG3 going to be released? Was going to list the Early Access but that was 2020.

Skyrim Annive....

Seriously :
Gothic II : Chronicles of Myrtana
Jupiter Hell

I realized that last years are too blurry to me and the games I've played are not as memorable as they used to be. Yeah I know, I'm getting old.

There were RPGs released in 2021?
Not fully released but I'd vote Colony Ship

Everyone who votes in this thread getting a brofist (assuming it's not trolling).

Solasta - decent tactical fun. I haven't returned to it.

Gloomhaven - fanatically faithful to the tabletop. Excellent.

Der Geisterjager - zwanzig_zwoelf deserves more wide recognition for his games. All three in this series are fantastic. They have hiccups (read Darth Roxor's reviews), but still great fun and really do justice to old-school blobbing.

Urtuk: The Desolation - lots of fun but the scaling mechanics turned me off after awhile. Nevertheless, lots of class variety, mutations are cool af.

Note of the Outskirts (informed it was released in late 2020) - fucking amazing. If you like blobbers go play it.

Ruined King - included solely for the battle system, everything else about it sucked balls (including challenge).

Battle Brothers: of Flesh and Faith - every single one of this game's DLCs deserves consideration for GOTY. One of the few that I have over 1,000 recorded hours of playtime on.

Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children - had a DLC released in 2021, it was small though so I'm not sure if it counts. Feel free to strike this if you don't think it should. Fucking amazing, best build porn in recent memory for me, game eases you in and then proceeds to rape you repeatedly if you're not paying attention. Love it.

Dungeon Encounters - an excellent example of making a great game by paring everything - character development, exploration, puzzles, inventory management/itemization, everything - down to its bare bones. Shines like naked steel. My only major gripe is character development, imo they cut too far. This game is amazing.

Codex Year of the Donut
After reading the feedback, for next year, I'm considering asking for 1 best RPG of the year, 1 worst RPG of the year, and an unlimited number of game rankings on a :0/5: to :5/5: scale.
This should help identify the most popular games as well as good niche titles.

Comments?

Easy -

Geneforge
Siege of Avalon - Anthology

Oh, it's the best games of 2021? I thought it was the best of 2001. Well, in that case I nominate:

Geneforge
Siege of Avalon - Anthology (And I recommend using the Anthology patch, even though it's made by - allah forgive me - G*rmans.)

Realms of Antiquity: The Shattered Crown (I don't know why it's listed as releasing in Dec. 2020, because I remember it releasing in March of 2021.)

Wizardry: The Five Ordeals

Inferno - Beyond the 7th Circle

The Magister

I'll give a consolation prize to Bravely Default II. It's not a great game, but it's one of the few recent games that has an in-depth job system.

Same for Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, was apparently released in 2021. It gets my RPGOTY '21.

Had to look up a list of games for 2021 and like someone else said, it was a pretty shit year. These are my picks, but I'm not super excited about any of them:

Bravely Default II
Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster
Shin Megami Tensei V

Oh, I actually wanted to nominate this one too but it wasn't a 2021 release originally so I didn't. If the DLC (of which I was unaware) counts, I vote for Troubleshooter as well.

KotC 2 easy and there is no contest.
Appears to be a 2022 release?
1.0 was released before 2022. 1.0 was not available on Steam.
I didn't keep up with KotC 2, I'll take your word for it. Thanks.

In case more context is ever needed: Mr. Rootman released KotC2 to backers only in something like August of 2021. Watching the Codex backers with access go on a rage-induced binge to beat it in its initial state was pretty amazing, it's worth a read for people who are fans. Jasede and Tweed were the highlights. Heady days. It was the full game even though it was backers-only though. Then he released to the general public in early 2022 with (I think) one extra module.

I could have sworn Note of the Outskirts was released early 2021. I'll edit it out of my post.

I missed my chance to vote it goty

I appreciate what the game is, I just didn't pay much attention to it because I've never been a big fan of 3.5e :M
