In a way I can appreciate this.

Disney fucked with their creations and those they bought up, but what do people do when those things come into the public domain? They fuck with them just as badly.

Nintendo can be a kill joy, but they see their stuff as sacred and don't want people desecrating it regardless of who they are. We can lament this mod being targeted, but it's from the same desire in them that keeps their crap so free of SJW stuff and deconstructing their beloved creations.

Now Palworld is causing a massive outrage among the usual suspects because it's an indie game made by an inexperienced dev team who just wanted to make an enjoyable game liked my a big audience (namely, American gamers who like guns).
It's almost as if making your games addictive is a bad thing and not what people really want to play.

Supposedly, you CAN capture and enslave humans, but the game heavily penalizes you for that, so it's not recommended. This ain't Conan Exiles.
There are some advantages.

Evidently kidnapping merchants (ironically including the black market merchants) is HIGHLY lucrative and convenient as they still act as merchants (now in your base, permanently) and evidently they also refresh stock after every summon.
I like the implication that:

We... are Pokemon.

I like the implication that:
Not a big pokemon fan myself, but even I know about the fact that a line that got localized out of one of the games said that people used to marry pokemon and they're similar to humans.

It’s officially confirmed that humans married Pokémon in the past and possibly even had children with them. This is seen in the Japanese version of the Gen 4 games, where a book in the library in Canalave City notes that people used to marry Pokémon.

That is pretty straightforward and to the point, but it only worsens this horrifying relationship when you realize that it seems that people now eat Pokémon, too. Official Pokédex entries and even scenes in the anime have shown that humans eat Pokémon, such as Appleton, Kingler, Magikarp, and even Slowpoke.

I wouldn't know, I've never cared for Pokemon beyond pokin' fun at it.

The most I've hear about Pokemon is a 20-something co-worker who plays the games a ton and won't shut up about em, my friends as a kid who'd turn the show on when when they'd hang out at my place and watching Solid JJ videos.

I only found out this year from that co-worker that Pokemon Red's protag is Red.

I had blue and red back in the day. Fun stuff, but nothing I would obsess over.

Maybe that's why Palworld holds no real draw for me. That and the storiless survival gameplay, which I have zero interest in spending money on.

I don't mind watching vtubers play it though. :M

I suggest you look at the new Pokemon games. The Diamond/Pearl remake turned a woman's boyfriend black. He wasn't in the original and now he is. There's also all the Nintendo trailers where Japan has almost no negroids while the English language ones are full of them. Same trailer, just race swapped in game characters.

What was the Allison woman working at tree house called? She was a prostitute and even pimped out her boyfriend. Kept promoting 'child sex' on Twitter and Nintendo wouldn't fire her no matter how hard people complained. Then they found out she was doing porn dressed as Nintendo characters and she was out the door immediately.

What's the appeal of this game again? Aside from fucking with the SJWs. Every time I read the description, I think to myself, this sounds like shit. Then they sell another million copies every time I have that thought.

It's for kids for which pokemon games are the only games they've played before (aka the most simplified, soulless, "rpg" with a huge asterisk, trash on market).

The fact conan exiles has only 50k peak players while this slop has 1.8m peak players (as of now) is truly all the confirmation you needed that we live in DECLINE.
It is odd how much I enjoyed that game versus how little I hear from anyone about it. Over 200 hours solo before I got bored. The building system was excellent. Wasn't all that happy with the thrall system. I haven't played it since they did an overhaul though. Been a couple years.
I played it in 2023 for quite a bit. Was enjoyable for a survival game. Love the world map.
Fun game, but the gameplay loop gets old pretty fast.

You have building, you have thralling, you have resource gathering and you have dungeon delving, and only dungeon delving and building are repeatable in a satisfactory way. You also have pvp too I suppose, but pvp isnt too enjoyable, a much jankier dark souls with no flash.

About the only thing that holds my attention is RP as of late, some servers with very intricate character sheet systems to do skillchecks and turn based combat.

This joke is pretty tired. And it pales in comparison to the devs' own (unintentional?) joke of making the 6,000,000 be in flames fsr...

Survival, crafting, open world, EA. This is all you need to make a game sells on steam. If all you want is to make money from games, that is exactly the kind of game you should be doing.
It's that cursed runes thing Mandalore talked about.

Two minutes in he mentions it:

Crafting
Survival
Early Access
Open World

In these sites we would call them "Four Horsemen of Apocalypse" and there might be even some topic in General Gaming for this topic

It's Good. Only one poke at a time but I think you can craft items to have others in your party do stuff as you roam (fight with you or collect items). Base building is forced, you need it to get better equipment unless you get very lucky with chests or merchants. Not really.

You would get killed pretty fast if you tried.

Should this be in the JRPG section?

I just had my first crash trying to grappling hook the ground. Luckily auto save was only a minute before. Not a big deal but glad to know auto save works well.

Confirmed you can have multiple Pals out. Daedream (early poison type you find at night). You can build a harness for and it will attack things with you even if it's not your active mon. Think there's more of them but that's the only one I know of so far.

Base invasions have broken on me repeatedly. If you build on a high cliff or under one the AI can't path find it's way up, gets stuck and despawns. I have a large wall around my main base with a sandbag to jump over to exit. The AI cannot find it's way in. Fuck the Pal rights protestors, you faggots tried to stop my ore mining facility and got despawned 2 cliffs before you even reached me.

If this is slavery sign me the fuck up..

Ore/Ingots are the real bottle neck for adventuring right now. They're essential to mid game (I assume) progression. I've still not found the second human-controlled boss but I've found plenty of pal-bosses. They're quite hard if you don't out level them since there's no way to heal and your shield takes a long time to recover. Will be hitting guns pretty soon.

Finding where to go is quite difficult. There's some things you shouldn't fuck with and there's no way of knowing an areas level until you enter it. I got gang banged by not!butterfrees and then a bunch of wolves trying to get my stuff back. TBH, I'd rather they got rid of the Diablo style bodies. I don't think it adds anything enjoyable to the game. Dropping your inventory would be fine, but your equipment is just annoying.

Base invasions are pretty broken for certain areas. My first base is down from that initial temple, halfway down the steps leading to the beach. Any invasion will wander down the steps but bug out and stop at the top of a dropoff. So I can just flamethrower them all down while they stand there.

You can turn off the inventory loss on death. Much like Conan Exiles, I highly recommend changing the server settings after you've played the game for a dozen or so hours. Even single player is still considered a server. Customize it to a better experience. I turned off dropping equipped items on death, but I do drop the rest of the inventory. I also made day and night about twice as long. So far thats all I've changed but there are a couple dozen options with a lot of scaling. You can turn off raids too, but I haven't yet.

For anybody wondering why this thing is a success:
-Copies survival/crafting gameplay loop which is popular
-Has monster design similar to Pokemon which is popular without the "boring" gameplay that most people associate Pokemon with.
-The monsters are integrated into the world compared to Pokemon where most monsters are just lurking in grass or are stuck in your box.
-Coop
-Actually is runnable on laptops/shit gpu's compared to AAA stuff
-Cheap to buy

They ripped off the most successful ideas while giving people what they have been asking for years. A Pokémon crafting game where the monsters are actually used in said gameplay parts. The only shocking thing is how Gamefreak,Level5,Square and Capcom never figured this out.
The game is total garbage. 99% of the people playing this game wouldn't have touched it for 5 seconds if it weren't popular. I personally know people whose interests doesn't align with this type of game, yet they're playing it. When I ask "What is this game?" They respond with "It's this new game that's super popular". This is gamers today. No taste or credibility. Only playing whatever is the popular game this month. Rinse and repeat.

The brazilian scene on this game is no doubt the best one in the world, because "Pal" in portuguese means "dick"(it's actually with an "u" but it sounds the same). I'm having fun watching people playing it or talking about the game coming up with all sorts of puns.

"Lately I've been feeling like a slut, all I think about is Pal".

"I just grabbed my first pal"

"That's the biggest pal I've ever seen"

"I've been riding pal all day long"

"I've been taking a lot of Pal fluid"

"It's so fun grabbing pals with friends"
