so what are good candidates for a dual wield basher main weapon?scimitar?
Scimitar and light shield; later you find blade/arrowguard. Add sneak on top to take full advantage of the extra attacks. I suggest a slayer.

Bladeguard / Arrowguard for a shield basher... Too bad as bucklers they can't be used to actually bash....

Not that scimitar nonesense again. Scimitar is among the poorest weapon choices here.
isnt the wrath of the bear god good?it adds its 1d6 electric/sonic dmg to the animal companion.

I guess it's decent-ish if you rely on Animal Companions. Though +7 damage on average is nothing to write home about.
It pales in comparison with the top tier weapons in this game.
Also d6 base is very poor for size damage scaling.

In Vanhold DLC.

Although I remember a decent +2 Furious one during Season of Bloom I think.
Also possible to get a Flaming Furious +3 one from artisan - potentially early if lucky.

The loot table isn't very balanced for certain weapons. Something I hope they fix in the sequel.
It seems much better than in the "prequel" (I mean BG2), where it was hilariously skewed for some weapon categories. Although I think having certain weapons that have nice options early on, but then wane and vice versa ain't necessarily a bad design.

οκ doki then i will just use whatever weapon i find and then when i get to the good stuff will focus.

You can get the Focus for the prereq then use whatever until the good ones show up. The +1 to hit is not that big of a deal.

There’s a +1 Keen Falcata for sale at Depths once that opens up that will serve you reasonably well too.

Don't use Buckler's for shield bashers. Use light shields. There are plenty of them there. The Buckler's are for AC when you need it. You shouldn't.

Too bad you have recommended their use then....

I’m concerned that your parrot collection may soon eclipse my own Hap.

I will carry them with pride!

And not to worry, Desiderius, but I've had a little more time to gather my collection :)

Okay, just don’t make me listen to any Jimmy Buffet.

In related news, looks like my Steam days are numbered. Energetic advocacy of competent play may well be a bridge too far.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Hello thread- I am on the fence with this game so hard. I got the impression it was terrible when it came out but there seems to be a lot of positivity about it on this forum.

So, is it good? Like, actually good? i.e. Not PoE "better than nothing" good. Or PoE2 "it's not as bad as the first one!" good?

That is to say, does it have characters with flaws. Interesting events? Stuff that I associate BG2 with?

To get specific, I see there are a number of female companions. Are they written as "I bet you didn't think I would be a fighter because I have a vagina! Fuck men!", or do they have actual characterization.

I tried to watch a Let's Play to figure this stuff out but those nasally voiced weirdos creeped me out, please help.

It is new BG. Or at least closer to it than any of "spiritual successor" attempts.

If you ignore early characterization for a couple of ladies after prologue.

It was good when it came out if buggy. It's very good now.

Far better than PoE (any of them) and for me better than D:OS.

PK is way (as in waaaaay) above POE's league, but if well written female characters are what you seek in your crpgs then I'm not sure if it's a game for you. Then again, in such scenario I'm not sure what game could I recommend and why are you even playing crpgs in the first place

I was thinking about this and I think Jaheira is my baseline. She was a sanctimonious bitch but at least the game semi-awknowledged it and Khalid balanced her out by being fantasy Niles from Frasier + dieing a cowards death (tragically).

But really it's just a red flag for shit writing in general which I'm actually wary of. If the games writing is great and there just happens to be a few moronic "girl power" tropes in there it's not the end of the world.

It's very good. Character building is pure porn. Plus it has a turn based mod, that works flawlessly and brings much more order to combat, then BG could ever dream of.
