Anyone ever played a wizard with necromancy specialization? Does it perform well compared to Conjuration for example?
The necromancy school has some good debuffs and crowd control. However, the game does not have all the spells from pen and paper. Bestow curse, blindness, wail of the banshee, and all of the other high level necromancy spells are all good. The problem with the school is that there really isn't enough early level spells to get you by. So you will have to branch out and get spells from the other schools.
Lvl 1 spells are kind of weak but the rest is OK for pure necro run. I had a Necro Thassalonian main and he did very well using necro spells in 75% of his slots. For lvl 3 I used reach rod and casted Vampire Touch at range :)

Funny thing, the most irritating level was 9 because Wail of Banshee AoE is way too big for its range. It was way too hard to use. I either had to use it as battle opener or send Jaethal alone forward and cast it on her.

Hmm okay. I will take your word for it. I just can't imagine playing the game without haste.

The only casters who don’t get Haste are Divine. There’s also Wands and Scrolls if you’re desperate. I have yet to cast Haste with a Wizard - too much other goodness. Buffs are for those who can’t beat saves.

You says you cannot use Haste ? You got bards and alchemists and Maguses for that.

Sykar just asked this multiple times and then always decides that necromancy is not worth it. then
asks again after a month or so.

Explain this to me. I don't play spell casters.
It's an Arcane trickster. Combines spell damage with sneak dice. The most damage-dealer char in the game.

As he pointed out the T part is chip damage. Sneaks are nice when you've got ways to multiply them (as with iteratives) but certinaly not the main story when the nukes come out.

AT Surprise Spells are actually very good for aoe nukes. Even moreso for lower level ones, like Ice Storm / Vulcanic Eruption.

In your opinion, what would be the best base class for duelist? Sword saint?

Diluting the pure awesomeness that is Sword Saint beyond a tiny Monk dip for superior defenses should be considered a sin!

Best Duelist would be whoever gets the highest AB so you can proc Parry (other). What would that be, Fighter, WIS Sensei?

Necro has shit school powers and early level spells are mediocre to outright shit too. Also I dislike giving up abjuration.

Nothing I said there was wrong. Necro does indeed have shit school powers and early spells are not very good. Obviously Necro has some good stuff at later levels, but I do not know how good it is late game. I never said it is worthless, just that if I have to use an opposite school I prefer Necro over Abj. Now when did I post this exactly, mh? Pretty sure it was not last month.
