That is not true, they get enhancements as they level up. Look at their ability lists.
for the last time I am not reinstalling gaem after 1000h

I remember testing endgame pets on WH and I think their damage was cut by cold iron DR. maybe I am wrong though.
still +5 ar is hard to pass by.

Are those pet buffs such a difference maker when you do have access to general buffs like Mage Armor, Haste, Displacement, etc?
Well without Magic Fang your pet is not even getting through any DR for example.

(God I hope it's technically correct and not bugged :shittydog: )

Magic Fang, Greater is always marginally useful on pets and wildshapers who want a free neck slot.

Just bring Jub to buff everybody. You need him to give pet Echolocation anyway.

Yeah, fully buffed pet is a monster.

i have no idea what these screenshots mean.
Reaford is ghost, damage is cut due to 50% ghost property regardless of your bonus.

The arrow is to direct you to what matters. Tripping Reaford with CMD of 58. Full damage on Hunt in other picture, as if DR would matter anyway.

Well yes, for trippers AR and buffing is more important.

Full damage on Hunt in other picture, as if DR would matter anyway.
It matters on multiattack pets. Dog/Wolf is 1.5 to STR attack pet.
And, obviously, during not last 10% of the game.

He's been doing big damage the whole game, and I've tested with Smilodons who were also fine once I knew what I was doing. Anyway, yeah they get enhanced attacks naturally as they level.

the topic

Pic showing natural DR bypass = on topic, as is pic showing big damage

Pic showing Trip + big damage (20 = 40 vs Ghost) = on topic for party without Druid, which was what your reply implied was necessary.

Desiderius, you know that you can highlight things other then Attack calculation, right?
Such as damage calculation... or CMB vs CMD roll.

Trip Roll with Mass True Strike.jpg

That screenshot was taken to show Tristian's viability in melee, which boils down to AB (as well as damage which he still needs help with - getting there, very late). Happened to also show Okbo Tripping something very hard to Trip/powering through (effective) DR.

You name your characters Sting, and Autumn?

For testing yeah. I don't like to waste time coming up with the perfect name to impress Shad because I know he's super particular.

There's a leaf on Autumn's portrait, the only female monk one.

Sting is built around Prehistoric Tooth's Necrotic Burst. Like a wasp sting.

so does unbuffed pet go through DR or not? When I played pet class it didn't.

Not until they get to +3. But Magic Fang takes a while to get to +3 itself. It can in fact be an issue for early/midgame Smilodons. You are correct.

Many thanks for all the comments guys. I think Sorcerer (of some kind) is what I want for a crowd control character. Have a lot of reading to do this evening.

You've got six slots. I'd recommend bringing a Bard too, at least for first playthrough.

He activates bonded item.
Come now. The Sorcerer can fine tune the usage of this specific spellbook. The Wizard can once a day use his bonded item to activate a very esoteric spell that is rarely useful. Or one more casting of his favorite. Its not really the same thing.
nah.
I honestly dungeit, why would you take a pet without any synergy from class which can't cast pet buffs; and also lose sorc things like boni to dc or elemental damage.
to me Sylvan sorc is simply solo class or for people who can't get through Chapter 1 on Hard/Unfair.
I exaggerate with 'best class ever' but an arcane caster doesn't really need to be more than a full caster to be a contribution to the party. A free full pet on top of that is great, no way to slice it.

I just don't understand Sorcerer players. It has advantages in PnP but in CRPG higher level spells early and ability to change spells is simply unbeatable at ability to solve any encounter or multiple of them.

I'm very into cock and ball torture
If, in the course of a whole adventure, the Wizard needs one more cast of his favorite spell
He activates bonded item.

sylvan sorcerer is the best character in the game
nah.

You don't need a pet to get through the game on Unfair. I managed to beat the game on unfair without any pets, it is possible. Just a bit more difficult. Pets add an unnecessary layer of extra micromanagement, and can cause problems later down the line. Such as, not being able to get through doors, bugging out, and finally getting in the way of your melee frontiers. It happens, and when it does happen, it is a pain in the ass.

However, in contradiction of my earlier points, I have been using A pet in a 5 man party for the DLC dungeon. More specifically a Mad Dog with a leopard, and it's okay. Due to its fast speed, I have been mainly using it to pull aggro. Much easier to pull aggro in this manner, than throwing a random fireball down the hallway.
