I do not agree that going to Farnirras early is cheating. It is one of the very few occasions where Dimension Door is actually useful, and it also looks intended. But the main thing is that figuring out all those things you can do to get the stuff early is pretty smart. Am I going to tell to someone who figured all that shit out by himself that he is cheating? No, I am not.

That said, beating Farnirras in honest combat is a very prestigious thing to do.

If I cannot and just use some exploits to steal his stuff and GTFO, well, I don't like the sound of that.
You're already using exploits by just getting there. I don't get this selective exploiting. Steal his shit and put it on you at least before the fight.

Dimension Door is not an exploit. The whole point is to get you into trouble.

I wish you could use dimension door on the overhead map, it seems useless otherwise.

"Um, NO. Actually, there IS a way not to give out your name to the soul eaters. A secret and quite hard way, though. Search for it. An acquisitive mind can find a small tip to it in Willas Gunderson's journal."

Where to find this journal?

You can unlock the Tomb without meeting the Sisters, but you miss out on a big chunk of loot/EXP and still get your name called.

I'm sure that magic force field door thing is supposed to be advanced enough to nullify it, why would 20-th level wizard lich alter ego bother with this set up at all otherwise? Owlcat was just too lazy to fix it.

I like this whole collection of ridiculous self-limitations that people put on themselves in a single player game.

I am a part of it, too. I left only 3 mods in my loadout, and 2 of them are save file cleaners.

The game clearly has locations that are supposed to be unlocked thriugh narrative/skill checks/progression but managed to have very small LoS to use Dimensional Door on. Another example is I think the secret door in Armag Tomb.

Those kinds of situations where you can use Dimensional Door are probably not intended by the Dev but either that they don't care enough to patch it or they are going for "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

Either way, if you can defeat him in a non-exploit/cheese way like using Heart of Ira then I guess you are enitled for the loot anyway.

There is really no reason at all to not consider that situation at Armag's Tomb a feature, no matter the intentions of the developers.

Why have the spell at all then? Where it should really work but doesnt is in the Shelyn temple treasure room.

They should just design the Farrinas encounter to roast you at lvl 12.

Attrition. It's what this game is about.
Please. The only fight any of my party members got hit at all or used any spells was the giant centipede boss fight. The rest is entirely filler.

You being adept at the game or managing it's challenges well doesn't change the purpose. Even then, these encounters are not out of place. Regardless, I enjoy D&D games, so these encounters weren't a chore for me.

That’s after you knew what you’re doing. Even there on the proper difficulty the poison and traps need careful management.

Sycamore rape in acid bath was wonderful. Later you just get infinite poison immunity, and they lightened area up due to whining; but on release it was just horrible troll through complete darkness barely lit by Light spell and praying Valerie to not crit fail her Fortitude saves.

On the issue of trash mobs, I do believe that some heavily populated areas needed some more empty spaces. Old Sycamore could do with fewer fights, and the same goes for Armag's Tomb, and the City of Hollow Eyes. Not every place is like this, but in certain places it looked like the designers wanted to fill all available space with mobs. Appreciate the value of empty space, please.

We are in agreement.
In the case of Armag's Tomb, I actually consider it better game design if the use of DimDoor was intended. I just can't know 100% for sure that it was intended.

They should just design the Farrinas encounter to roast you at lvl 12.

I agree. I do not necessarily agree that stealing the items should be totally forbidden, because it has further consequences: The only great weapon DEX builds can have is in there (the Dueling Sword). The itemization for weapons has not been kind to DEX builds (and I consider this to be an itemization design mistake), and that Dueling Sword is kinda their main consolation.

on the back of a T34.
Now that's kinda cheating for in my book. If I can beat him (without cheating), then I have the right to be there.
If I cannot and just use some exploits to steal his stuff and GTFO, well, I don't like the sound of that.

heh, maybe the encounter and its exploit is an easter egg for the same exploit used in the tavern lich in bg2?

There are plenty of great DEX weapons. Bloodhound is solid but DEX-based will almost certainly have other ways of getting DEX to damage by that point so the Agile is redundant.

I guess you could steal Swordsman’s Passion and use that but Menace is just better, and the Keen one isn’t bad either. That’s just Dueling Swords. There’s a host of other options.

That’s just Dueling Swords.

Dueling Swords is all they have. (kukris are arguably OK too, but nothing impressive)

I used Rapiers for my Sword Saint, but other than the inherent expanded crit range they have nothing. Compare that to what STR weapons can get.
