Do you guys ever use Prismatic Spray?
20 points fire damage (Reflex half)
40 points acid damage (Reflex half)
80 points electricity damage (Reflex half)
Poison (Frequency 1/rd. for 6 rds.; Init. effect death; Sec. effect 1 Con/rd.; Cure 2 consecutive Fort saves)
Baleful Polymorph (Fortitude negates)
Insane, as insanity spell (Will negates)
Sent to another plane forever (Will negates)
Creature struck by two rays receives both rays' effects at once.
Looking at it it has at least ~40% chance to outright kill in huge AOE i wonder why nobody ever mentions it. Granted Damage and Poison are shit, but every other effect is pretty much instant death. And AOE so big that its easy to get an entire encounter with it.

Can be strong, but not exactly reliable. Plus my CC casters don't necessarily specialize in Evocation (although there are some good Evo CC spells). Therefore no.

Nope. This is an example of the design space being too big even for me.

It's really big.

Prismatic Spray is something of a "Hail Mary" spell. You use it when you need to gamble a bit. It's best applied against a boss with lots of mooks. You have a reasonable chance of hitting a weak save on the boss, while a high degree of assurance that the mooks will be wiped.

As others have written, Heighten is good for spellbook manipulation, particularly for Sorcerers. Even for wizards, especially specialists, it can preserve an effect or better utilize slots that would otherwise be sub-optimal. I will agree with Haplo that it's probably outmoded by other metamatic in WotR like Bolster, Selective, and Persistent. If you're using mods, then Intensified spell. It's very uncommon for me to Heighten anything more than 2 spell levels.

That was the way that I found that vavakia turned into a dog still has breath attacks and can wipe my entire party. I still don't know if it was a bug or a feature.

Damn. On an Aeon Inquisitor, when using Aeon Bane, Destructive Dispel is using 1/2 Inquisitor Caster Level + Wisdom modifier - rather then 1/2 Aeon Caster Level + Highest Ability modifier. Currently at level 15 this means DC 19-20 rather then 25, soon 27 (and something like 35 end game).
I guess in this case, the Inquisitor/Aeon Bane stacking is a curse...

EDIT: MAYBE this might change once Aeon Caster Level overtakes the Inquisitor Caster Level... but that'll be a while.

Holy shit why did I buy this game on release.

The Unity framerate is about 3x what it was on release.

Playing Unity games on release remains the shittiest idea in all of creation. Game devs do dumb shit like freeze their version of Unity to 3 years ago, then 9 months after release they update their game to the latest version of Unity, and the framerate multiplies.

It's INFINITELY more pleasant now they've actually patched.

I should have learnt from Pathfinder Kingmaker not to play Owlcat games on release.

It also fixes Shatter to require a hit before it kicks in. Which is what really makes the Mythic good.

It would help Seelah not to have to get it herself since she's pretty tight on feats. Daeran/Sos as well.

That's why I also went 3 Gendarme - Order of the Cockatrice on her. 3 extra feats are super handy... especially when I want to make her the enemy demoralizer (Dazzling Display not working when mounted hurts, but she can use single target long range Demoralize and also has Dreadful Carnage, which does work).

Wait, Shatter defenses works all the time against shaken enemies, not just the round after you hit something? That's pretty fucking busted, how is that NOT fixed in the first patch?

Here I was thinking it was overhyped, because if it worked as written the problem is that you need to hit something first in order to lower something's AC to the point where you can hit it again.

It has always worked like that, since the release of Kingmaker.
Frankly I don't see them patching that behaviour.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I am still in Act 1 but I think this is a genuinely good game. The turn-based system seems to work well and the combat has been making me consider all my options (playing on core difficulty). Monster type etc means you have to always be aware of what sort of weapon you're wielding, and I assume something bad happens if you rest too much so I have been trying to push myself forward as much as possible. Which means I've been using all the items I find.

Impressive selection of monsters with the graphics & portraits to go with them, rag doll physics are great fun, and there's a sense of pace to it that works well (so far).

Okay... "genuinely good game" might be a bit much. But, the enthusiasm is appreciated simply because Act 1 is arguably the worst.
But, yeah... you definitely need to say what companions you're with, because your praises sound fishy.

Act I definitely sucks until you reach the cultist hideout to try saving the underground people, but otherwise it's been an interesting challenge.

I'm at the tavern defense battle now, during my first attempt my player character was killed by the minotaur.

I'm traveling with spiderwoman, evil oracle aristocrat, aristocrat lady witch, the moronic "playful" edgy thief, and the black tank woman. I think some of them are decent party members.

My character doesn't have a strong good/evil chaotic/lawful leaning, so i feel free to pick whatever options appeal to me.

I, personally, find the black tank woman one of the worst written companions I've seen in an RPG in recent memory. But okay. You do you.

Keep your opinions coming. Always nice to read the thoughts of someone new to the game.

I generally agree and intend to immediately replace her when I meet a new viable tank/front line fighter. For now, however, I need her. She has a high armor class, she can damage demons, lay hands, etc.

There really aren't any good front line options other than her and wendaug spider lady (who I do like).

I don't mind Act 1. I tend to get bored and tired by the time Alushinyrra rolls around.

wendaug spider lady

She makes an amazing Instinctual Warrior tank. (Very fitting rp-wise too.)

Wenduag and Lann came level 1 with really nice stats, you can go many different ways with them.
But fuck me sideways I always go Huntsmaster or Faith Hunter with Lann....
I'm currently rather fond of him as a Spirit Shaman.
Those Metal Curse, Hampering and Evil Eye hexes are very helpful.

And when not busy spamming those, he can delete the trashmobs pretty well.

So guys what would be strongest main character pure caster?
I was thinking some Illusionist that goes Trickster to pick up as many Completely Normal Magic feats as he can (do they stack?) and then switch into Legend to get more points into your main caster stat. Idea would be to use Completely Normal magic to both Persistent and Highten Wierd as much as possible for best possible DC. Not sure what to do about those immune to illusions.
