Make the Codex Great Again!
It looks very low budget, indie, niche. Maybe this is the reason why Sawyer got a blood clot.

How did Sawyer go from "I want to do a Darklands-style RPG" to... this?

I blame Disco Communism.

He lives in CA. They're all like this. When he was bitching about not being paid enough by his bougie rich company for his bougie lifestyle of buying expensive watches and luxuries and ALSO have enough money to retire on, that should have told you everything. He's the picture perfect example of an upper middle class socialist retard. Spoiled and privileged, but copes with an ideology that displaces that privilege onto someone else because he can't accept his own stupid decisions are what led him to where he's at.

Shit like this makes me feel like I'm too old for modern internet and gaming. It's yet another case where I'm not 100% sure if this is an actual thing that someone thought should be made or some really lame inside joke that 2 or 3 neckbeards found "haha funny" and somehow got turned into a project until a point when it was too late to back out and they just had to pretend this was a genuine idea for a game that someone wants to play. And it makes me feel weirdly uneasy.

Codex 2012 Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Bubbles In Memoria A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
And it makes me feel weirdly uneasy.
I find that rather empowering, honestly.

All those "modern" games, writing, story, music, etc. - and I don't give a fuck about it.
And I don't need to give a fuck about it, either - there's more than enough good stuff to keep me busy eternally without ever again having to care what's currently "trending".

Maybe that's just me, but not caring about an ever-increasing amount of things even within my biggest hobby makes me feel better, not worse.

Standin' pretty. In this dust that was a city.
On one hand I'm curious to see the character and font drawing mechanics since it's quite unique and obviously lots of work went into it. On the other, hearing devs orgasm over mini-games is a major red flag. If the main "game" requires them to break the pacing, it means said pacing, or even gameplay as a whole, is boring and sucks. If I wanted mini-games I'd play them instead of the main game. Sounds like a deep discount buy.

Checked out his Twitter thread where he talks about his clot issues, he mentioned having had Covid but funnily enough, not a single mention of 'vaccination' status (I'm sure he's had 4-5 shots or however many there are now). I wonder why that is.

Anyway, glad he was able to find out quickly about them (because he's physically active) and do something about it, and that he seems to be fine now. But the fact that he doesn't even entertain the idea that there might be a possible link between clots and the big pharma bullshit he can't get enough of is honestly just depressing.

Regarding the game, it is a cool enough premise, but the insufferable parade of dangerhairs and flaming faggots in the video getting giddy about cookie cutter minigames makes me not want to play it, ever. I don't think these people can write anything decent, especially regarding 16th century anything. The script is probably littered with absurd self-inserts, 'modern' sensibilities, patronizing views of religious society, etc.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
It's like Michael Jackson and his music, you have to distinguish between the author and his works
MJ could actually write music and perform, regardless of whether you like his work or not

These people don't actually know how to do anything except talk out of their asses
Yeah sure, I specifically meant Josh. Can't say anything about the others except what you've already observed.

TLDR: 10/10 Masterpiece

He admits to doing only one playthrough. That's a bit lazy I think.

e:

Here's an excerpt from the review:
the whole production really feels like a love letter from some serious medieval history fans to all the like-minded players like myself debating the writings of early feminist Christine De piezon discovering a certain character's entanglements with the fugger bank or even having a what would Socrates do option in certain dialogues might be lost on some but they made me grin with joy

Separating art from the artist is impossible. Creative works are like ejaculations. Just accept that you like some things that the person you don't like likes.

Regardless of quality, I love how it has a global release schedule like its gonna sell more than 20 copies:

Unless I'm vastly underestimating how many fans of hyperniche historical genres there are.

On first look it seems Seattle fans of obscure Bavarian CYOA will have to use VPNs to not feel neglected compared to Nairobi.
Then you realize it is another unnecessary complication of simple information.
