Honestly this site is a lot more tame than it used to be four or five year ago. Granted I rarely go into General Discussion, though.

I remember when porn and shock images with no previous warning were the rule rather than exception in GD, and even in GRPD and other subforums. Examples include the infamous kingcomrade's galleries of Warhammer 40k porn with Tyrannids and Daemonettes drawn by the fags in 4chan's /tg/ that tended to fill in certain types of threads, and when inane threads were dumped with masses of tubgirls and goatses before retardo went as a mercy kill.

I stopped reading GD for a while after being caught unprepared by the "attention whoring tranny age" of widespread gay porn through threads not directly related to trannies.

But otherwise, no, devs stopped posting because of personal attacks and criticism. They knew they'd never get us to like their next-gen popamoles. We wouldn't take their bullshit, they wouldn't take ours. Racism should be very low on the list of reasons. And yes, for the most part I'd say: good riddance.
We do still have indie-devs and stuff around.

There would be no real gain to having devs posting here other than for the novelty of having developers posting in a discussion that relates to them in some way. You won't be getting any significant insights or exclusive information, you won't get them criticising their own games or the companies they work for, and you won't get surety of honesty on anything that actually matters. It would be nothing more than a PR exercise with the same regurgitated responses as always.

I'm quite glad I don't have to listen to it, or to any Codexers fawning for the sake of infatuation, and I think nothing is being forfeit here, other than bruised feelings and egos of the devs who have decided wisely to not post.
