News from dungeons:

https://gematsu.com/2019/05/blue-winged-chevalier-is-a-remake-of-students-of-round

Blue-Winged Chevalier is a remake of Students of Round
Digital edition due out two weeks earlier than physical in Japan.

Blue-Winged Chevalier, Experience’s newly announced dungeon RPG, is a remake of Students of Round, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

Students of Round is a dungeon RPG first released for PC in 2010 in Japan. It was ported to Xbox 360 with additional elements in 2011, followed by PSP in 2012.

Blue-Winged Chevalier has renovated character visuals, newly replaced event CGs and monster visuals, and a revised story and in-dungeon events.

Players will be able to to customize their character’s class, ability, and visual through the character creation feature.

The July 2016-released dungeon RPG Stranger of Sword City Revisited will also be included with Blue-Winged Chevalier.

The magazine also reveals that the previously announced Japanese release date of July 25 only applies to the physical edition of Blue-Winged Chevalier. The digital edition will launch on July 11. Both will cost 6,800 yen.

An Experience representative told Weekly Famitsu that this will be its last PS Vita title.

Thanks, Ryokutya2089.

Labyrinth of Galleria: Coven of Dusk delayed to spring 2020 in Japan
No longer planned for July 25.

Nippon Ichi Software has delayed Labyrinth of Galleria: Coven of Dusk from its previously planned July 25 release date in Japan to spring 2020.

The company said that the delay is to improve the quality of the game.

Labyrinth of Galleria: Coven of Dusk will be available for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. If you missed it, read up on our previous coverage of the game here.

I think this is definitely for the better considering Nippon Ichi's recent releases.

Even for a classic JRPG-styled game that will attract about 4 players, it has a ridiculous price and Derpuvo to boot. Squeenix is getting too greedy. Or too desperate. Anyways, automatic blacklist for me.

Disgaea RPG Studio Nippon Ichi in Financial Trouble, Withholding Salaries From Employees
Disgaea RPG studio, Nippon Ichi Software, is in dire financial straits and cannot afford to pay staff after the mobile title was de-platformed.

According to reports from various Japanese news outlets (and relayed through Twitter user HDKirin), Nippon Ichi Software is in dire financial straits. The development and publishing company has been suffering for quite some time due to poor sales of their titles in Japan. And now it seems, due to debilitating issues surrounding their latest mobile title Disgaea RPG, NIS can no longer afford to pay their employees:

In order to raise enough money to pay for the development staff’s labor costs, NIS has resorted to an MS (Moving Strike) Warrant. A MS Warrant is a stock term, a method of raising funds that otherwise cannot be acquired through the normal means of borrowing from banks or investors, due to already being deficit.

The company raises money buy selling their stocks at a cheap price. Security companies profit greatly from buying said cheaper stocks while that company’s investors are ultimately the ones who lose the most since the stocks they currently hold lose money and lead to the stock’s overall decline.

Japanese site Ha-Navi confirms that Disgaea RPG is the main cause for this last decline that resulted in the company unable to pay wages. On March 19th of this year, the title — a collaboration effort between NIS and Forward Works (a subsidiary of Sony) — began service.

However, since that launch the game had to undergo long-term maintenance due to its many and major issues and was taken down. Service has not been restored as of this writing. Naturally, as revenue cannot be gained from a game no longer available on the market, the company has no way to recoup their losses and pay the staff’s salaries.

The Forward Works official blog released a statement on the issue, apologizing to players for the ongoing issue. The official Twitter account also released a status update, encouraging players who purchased paid items by March 31st to submit their inquiry to a support email account. Considering this tweet came out on May 17th, a full two months after the game launched and shut down, it seems all parties involved are reluctant to refund the money.

Considering the high quality of the original Disgaea 5 and its re-release on the Nintendo Switch, it’s a shame that NIS is facing such a difficult time. It is not clear how this news will impact the company’s upcoming titles.

Ehh. Only NIS title I liked was Soul Nomad, Gig was pure lulz. The first Disgaea wasn't half bad either.

Feels bad. I enjoyed their game a lot. I guess the Mobile Game was the last ditch effort to get back up and it was struck down as well.

If they didn't close the studio out of shame after Last Rebellion, I get the feeling they'll pull through this one somehow.

Not surprised. They haven’t had a great selling game in ages, it feels like.

Sales have been up over the years actually, although they decreased this last financial year a bit. Judging from their latest annual reports, last financial year (31.03.2018 - 31.03.2019) had about 4.5% decrease in sales but operating profit decreased by 35%.

Pretty much. What notable titles have they released in the last five years that weren't ports or re-releases? Disgaea 5 and Labyrinth of Refrain?

So how are Kemco games in comparison to more known franchises?

Most are at best serviceable if you've already played everything else under the sun, but their main appeal seems to be releasing a ton of mobile JRPGs. I think having some of them be free may have endeared them to general population, though. When you consider they're publishing it still comes down to whether devs are crapshoot or not.

Rideon who created this game once participated in Gust's Atelier Series.
I don't what that means exactly, but assume it means the crafting and how it ties to combat is excellent. The fact that it has "tavern management" reminds me of Recettear (an excellent game) too.
Suppose I'll give it a shot.

199X, New Koza
It's the end of the 20th century, on a historic timeline different from that which we know.A manmade island off the coast of Okinawa is humming with a dirty, exotic vibe - and it's awesome!
Rust and faded concrete glisten in the morning sun and the late-night neon, showing off the various faces of the island.

Amazing Soundtrack
Let yourself go to the subtropical sun, the sound of the waves, and the scent of dank weed, and let some real deep cuts and unknown classics of 1990s hiphop take you away.It doesn't matter whether you're chilling on a couch on a rooftop, having a drink at the bar, or capping fools in a firefight in some sketchy alleyway - these dope-ass tracks are gonna get you moving!

Four "Kawaii" Soldiers
Hey you! Do you like hardcore adventures where you take on the role of an even harder-core badass tasked with beating the crap out of a bunch of demons?Well, so do I, but sometimes it's fun to try out something a little different, you know?

These four cute Asian girls coukdh't care less about little photo stickers... They'd rather play with some 7.62x39mm rifles and filthy, filthy cash!

Simple-yet-deep Turn-based Gunfighting
Use simple controls to take down evil gang members and killer robots! In New Koza, you can purchase randomly-generated and extremely powerful guns, 24/7.
Load up a shotgun so powerful you'd burn yourself to toast if the gas leaked and some brand-new fireproof sneakers, find a group of psychotic yakuza thugs, and personally deliver a handwritten invitation to BEATDOWN TOWN!

Take on the role of Mako on her quest to seek out and subsequently deliver her, uh, deliverables in this top-down view 2D action game.

In accordance with a deal made with self-proclaimed "delivery service" and all-around mysterious entity known as Bumon, Mako has taken a job working as a lackey at the Bumon Delivery Corporation in "Mayoi" - the world of the gods.

She was told that if she finishes up her assigned tasks and collects the stamps of approval for her various deliveries, then she'll be able to return to her own world, but...

Get to work finding and collecting the various items requested in Mayoi.
As soon as you've gathered the items, bring them to the workbench. Once you're finished packaging them, deliver them to the client. Rinse, repeat, and keep on going to see just how the story unfolds.

Outrider Mako features a fun little gimmick in which you can jump on top of your enemies and slime them with goo to stop them in their tracks.
Also, the pixel artwork is chock full of Japanese-style goodness.

Get ready to jump into battle, solve some mysteries, and take on a bunch of collection quests as you traverse the world of Mayoi!
Clear your various requests to receive "Heaven's Blessing" from the gods, making your journey extra-awesome!
