Guys I have been saying for years that Risen sucks but nobody listens to me. Mayhap this latest installation, complete with a dude rocking that 1990's toilet seat male pattern baldness, will wake you scrubs up.

Yeah, but I think I just 50% off on a sale sorta believe.I want to believe.
No, people supporting PB do so because the said studio is the only remaining AA developer that still makes spiritual successors to Ultima games, i.e. truly open world (not theme park) RPGs.I feel like a lot of potatoes come to the defense of PB precisely because they are from good old yurop.

For the supposed RPG site you guys care quite a lot about how sexy this main character is going to be.
Risen 2 was a great game, i enjoyed it more than Risen 1. Both are A+ games imo.I'm glad I wasn't around to listen to you before I tried the gameGuys I have been saying for years that Risen sucks but nobody listens to me. Risen certainly had its problems - glaring, unforgivable flaws in fact - but overall, I enjoyed my time with it. My opinion has nothing to do with supporting PB for whatever reason, what they're trying to do, where I live, etc., but simply the face value of "was it fun/good enough?" It wasn't an A+, but it at least gets a B- from me. If I insisted on only playing games (especially RPGs) that were 100% perfect, I'd have to find a new hobby.
I didn't find Risen 2 fun enough to even finish the demo, so I let that one go.
I'll certainly try the demo for the third installment to see if it leaves me hungry for more, but I'm not holding out much hope. Who knows though? Don't count your sucky chickens until they hatch.

Hmm. It's been a while; maybe I'll look at the demo again next time I have a dry spell.Risen 2 was a great game, i enjoyed it more than Risen 1.
Herm.Both are A+ games imo.
I'm sorry, but I don't see all the glorious extra-open world RPGs with lots of verticality that could fill the PB gap anywhere

Same old great PB dialog is there.
See, this is just one of those things I don't see eye-to-eye with the Codex on. I thought it was pretty terrible dialog. Too much potato aftertaste. But I guess anyone who disagrees will just say I am wrong, and it will just come down to a matter of taste. Which is cool.
Considering purely gameplay-wise, Risen is probably the most solid of all PB titles. It's a shame the setting and story were so uninspired
It's not a "great game" but it's better than many Codexers would have you believe. It's main problem is super linear islands toward the end, but the first two or three areas to explore are pretty well done. Musket combat is pretty neat. Colonial setting is interesting. Same old great PB dialog is there.
Thanks for the perspectives. I'm sad to see that R2 is also super linear at the end. That was the main thing I hated about R1. Does not bode well for R3.Dialogue and voice acting aretty great actually. Risen 1 was linear towards the end as well, dont see whats the issue. I did not mind that actually, good change of pace.
Interesting. Personally, I tend to very much enjoy dialogue and writing localized from non-American dev houses (which I guess is what you mean here?). I can't really put my finger on why.I thought it was pretty terrible dialog. Too much potato aftertaste.

Risen has flaws but it's easily one of the better arpgs of the last five or six years.I feel like a lot of potatoes come to the defense of PB precisely because they are from good old yurop.
ETA: Also, I never consider anything "purely gameplay wise," and I suspect most refined Codex gentlemen do not either. My overall opinion of a game is informed by a lot of factors, as it should be.
