I'm playing the game with a gamepad too, works better than with the keyboard IMO. :obviously:
You're He's going to have so much fun against the artifact titan :M
Describe or link it in a spoiler? Wouldn't be the first time a PB game took a severe turn in gameplay style (or to be fair the first time the hassle of it was exaggerated.)
Close to the endgame you fight a boss that you can't kill, so you have to shackle it by throwing glowing magic stuff at it's hands when it attacks. You have to aim manually, and you don't know if its going to attack left or right, and the attacks come out fairly quickly, and the hands are only valid targets during the attack animation. I had some trouble doing it with mouse, I can't imagine how awful it must be with a controller.

Any mage spells that are a must? My lightning spell gets the job done for now. But some enemies have complete immunities to certain elemental effects. I don't want to be stuck with a lighting spell and find myself figthing nothing but lighting elementals before I can afford to replace it.
Get either frost or fire bolt, and you're set. There are a few enemies immune to lightning, even if they're rare. The crystal shard throw and aoe nova are kinda shit. Rain of fire is really powerful.

Is it better to eat plants that give permanent stat bonuses or can you brew them into something even better?

and if you arent travleling alone everythin gyou say about PB games is retardshit anyway.
If you think dealing with this game´s crappy and easy (but tedious due to the overabundance of encounters) combat alone (and/or on hard "difficulty") is something that brings it close to G1 or G2, then I think you have a weird notion about what made PB´s first two games´ combat cool (and why those games´ combat contributed to these being good in general) ;).

You can brew them, as you always could in PB games, I think.

Companions = Cheat Mode in every PB game because the combat engine cannot handle having allies. You can just hit people in the back again and again. You could argue R3 combat is broken or bad even when you are playing alone, but that's a separate argument. Why would anyone deliberately play a mode which makes it several magnitudes worse, no matter how good/bad it was before?

Travel alone = have fun with stunlock clickfests through hp bloated enemies
Travel with a dude = stunlock clickfests become much faster!

I don't think there is a choice here.

'cause I suck at combat per se.
(Plus I don't like the circlejerks happening after every game in every forum about HOW EASY this very game is. Yeah you're all pros, I get it.)

The only difficult part of Ris3ns combat is surviving the tedium of stunlocks while chugging hp pots by the bucketload.

Yeah. And what's better, they're usually best weapons. PB didn't even bother to make finishing moves for blunt weapons, it's amusing to watch my character slit throats with his Spirit Hammer (40-90 dmg, fuck yeah, slashing weapons +10 lol).

On the bright side, there's no restricion on what i can reanimate with my Necromancy spell. Round up 4 golems, kill them at one spot, reanimate all four of them, profit!

The spirit hammer is so op it's not even funny. It's possibly the best weapon I found in the game, and it can easily be gotten right after the tutorial. Dem DLC islands eh?

Yeah, i found it on Fog Island in a locked chest, but it's definitely not the most powerful weapon in the game. I have one piece of a sword called Sphere Thorn. When reforged it does 55-90 dmg and has a +10 piercing weapons bonus.

Fog island was fun but the thief island is boring and banal. Completed the game having played almost 23 hours. Wouldn't call the boss fights difficult nor they were fun. Even the newest DMC did boss fights in a more smart manner.
Upon completing all of the Demon Hunters quests I noticed that through blacmsmithing I could upgrade certain weapons. A nice addition, I replaced my bees(swarm voodoo weapon-spell) with a finely crafted sword.

Left some quests uncompleted, saw no point in doing them. I already was strong enough, having a sword, spells and a pistol. There is no way I am playing it again, time for some Risen 2.

Parrot flight is the best in game ability, I hope it exists in Risen 2. I skipped lots of battles thanks to my parrot form. And the enemies are scattered literally on every square meter of land.

wave sword or whatever they translated it to can be gotten pretty early too and it crafts into lightning, which is the most op of the non legendary weapons. kraken eye was the most op one i found, but they still do less damage than firearms. you can easily get all the op and legendary weapons if you just use parrot flight to sneak and run since stuff doesn't attack you in parrot mode.

I love the protagonist's voice. It's amazing. Like Nolan's Batman with a sore throat after eating Geralt.

Also, Patty is the character's sister? Fuck you PB.
