Community RPG Codex Invades Steam

I am going to ask and expect to see alot of other games more close to an RPG than Dark Souls to be in that list if it stays, thats all im saying.

also i dont really care much about that list. What i do care is that im not the only one complaining. There are others both here and in the steam group. Sorry but this isnt and cant be a "Codex recommended".

I'm fine with Dark Souls being recommended by the curator page. It was in the Codex recommends list and is ultimately a good game. Besides the last time i checked this place wasn't a democracy?

If my 11 year old self were here, and Diablo 1 was on steam I would be up for it being on the list. If my 16 year old self were here and Diablo 2 were on steam I would be up for it being on the list. Thankfully I am not that young anymore. Diablo 3 happened and destroyed that sense of nostalgia.

Still the music from the first two games is still fucking awesome, if the codex ever did an RPG OST list I would nominate Diablo 1 and 2.

That's a list over which there would be some serious arguments. I could see myself getting more outraged about the #1 OST than any #1 RPG decision.

I think it's nice Dark souls is on there. I hope management doesn't go overboard and add Ds2 as well though.

Why? Is it legitimately not a good game, or is it just not as good as you wanted it to be in the Fallout 2 vs. Fallout 1 sense?

It's a good game, but both dark souls are barely rpgs in my opinion. And while I am fine with a super great barely rpg being on the list, I don't really feel like putting merely good barely rpgs on there is such a good idea.

You said it was a whitelist right? The developer is probably approving anyone who recommends it.

His answer:

Yup, I was surprised too. When I logged in for the first time to curation tab in marketing on Steam backend, there were three reviews pending. It looks like devs have to approve these recommendations. Here is what written there on the backend:
"Below is a list of curators that have written a "recommendation" for your product. By default, curators with more than a certain number of followers (currently tuned to 3,000) can appear on your store page. But you can remove specific curators to hide them from your page, or approve other curators to allow them to appear. "

So, thanks for adding us and thanks for writing about it

You might as well tell a few other devs whose games you recommend to approve your recommendation.

I have only informed the devs that are still on early access via email or twitter.
All others (Amazon Princess by Winter Wolves, too) must have approved us anyway

I'm being fairly careful about what games I add, but I've heard several times that NEO Scavenger is great, and Eisenwald is of course a longtime Codex "pet project".

Might want to wait until an early access title comes out before you put it on a "MUST GET" RPG list. Just saying. I would have said the same thing about MMXL if we had been putting it on a list when it was still in EA.

Searching for rpg gives over 1500 results, and using the rpg tag gives over 1400.

I fully support adding NEO Scavenger, it is a a very neat game. Like someone found the dumpster diving of Arcanum so compelling they made a whole game around it.
