Nah, it's officially Rance these days, although I think it was originally romaji'd to Lance. Rance's various icons and heraldry in the later games often contain a single capital R as the only letter, even in the japanese version.
I did a search and it does look like an Engrish way to say 'Lance'

Project: Eternity Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Also the gameplay is actually good
But have you played it, or are you just parroting?

And yet the letters say "Rance". But yeah, fwiw ランス (the series title and protag name in japanese) is also the japanization of 'lance'. They do have a 'native' character for lances though: 銛 (mori), so idk. I'd guess they only use ランス for vidya and manga as part "random english words are cool" aesthetic, but I don't actually know.

Im so used to thinking of dragon quarter as the red headed step child that spat on the previous games and killed the franchise that first seeing codexers praise it, then seeing it win best BoF position, is a mindfuck.

Hey which part Ash if you do not mind?

What did I disagree with in your post? FF7 (original). Game is great, and I would easily place it in the top ten. It's fun, charming, memorable and actually has decent gameplay focus, which is sadly not common enough for RPGs. Those that claim otherwise are lying edgy hipsters. At the time of its release, it was the most ambitious game ever made, with by far the largest budget. There was not, and still is not anything truly like it, except certain other FF games. Aside from its difficulty (mod it) and graphics in a few of instances, it's a stone-cold classic.

That's how edgy codex JRPG bros are, not a single FF game in the top 55, but Shadow Hearts: Covenant in the top ten "pure" list. Yeah, pure cringe you mean. I played and experienced some of the most pitiful hardcore simping, animu tropes galore, annoying characters, sub-par gameplay (though slightly better than the average RPGs I guess), just wholly unimpressed. Koudelka was better, let alone a 90s FF game.

And yeah, no Dagon Dogma on the list feels weird. Game is a mess but people still play it to this day.
I split the list into two parts, one that includes action games with RPG elements and one that doesn't. Dragon's Dogma is in 9th on the other list. You can see it on the extended page.

I would put FF7 in the top 20.

Nice. I haven't even heard of the number 1 rated JRPG. I'll have to check some of these out.

Suikoden I > Suikoden II, which is just more of the same with more fan service and less authenticity and soul.

To no one's surprise, the Codex's favorite JRPG is eroge classic Sengoku Rance.
What's cool about this game? Eroge sounds like a genre for degenerates.
The protagonist is a magnificent bastard rapist who had a gigachad facial expression before gigachad was even a thing:

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I didn't vote, but it's funny to see how non-voters are the ones complaining the most. Or people not even playing jrpgs.

It's not a conspiracy against FF, it's just different people's opinions. You might not agree, but we didn't all have a secret meeting to vote FF down.

Id' say SH:C...
  • Has better turn based combat than all the FF games with it's judgement ring system;
  • Has a superb horror overtone, which none of the FF games manage;
  • Has connections with the real world and real history & fiction, and it feels great touring the world and meeting people like Anistasia, Rasputin & Geppeto. Especially with how big a part they play in the game;
  • The characters are all very well crafted, written and memorable IMO (if they annoy you fair enough, but almost eveyone stands out to me);
  • The demon morphing is great and just as good as summons;
  • Grand Papinion is one of the funniest characters in any JRPG;
SH:C actually just feels like FF set in the real world with a horror overtone to me. I much prefer it to most FF entries (if not all of them).

Now you might not agree with any of that, but the point is it's a genuine opinion, not some edgy conspiracy.

Fuck objectivity
said every pleb noob ever

Objectivity has no place in opinion polls. It totally defeats the purpose of the poll in the first place.

"Vote for your fave games...but you must consider how everyone else views them in the process". It's bollocks.
Look it's Jason Schreier. Objectivity is the only way you can get an accurate measurement of something. Why even have scores if you don't care about objectivity.

Nobody knew about or voted in the poll.
It was in the JRPG forum for at least a month and constantly bumped up to the top of the list. The fact that you didn't know about it means you don't visit that forum and thus should not have been voting in the poll.
No I frequently regularly, and your dumbass post doesn't make sense. People can play a bunch of games in a genre and take a break from that subforum from awhile.

And yeah, no Dagon Dogma on the list feels weird. Game is a mess but people still play it to this day.

Yeah, how are Dragon's Dogma and Souls games action games and not other Secret of Mana type games? Keep running from the argument faggot.

Only really weak people need objectivity as an excuse to protect their opinions. The rest just say what they like or don't, with no fucks given for how the rest of the world views or judges something.

I'm not saying that objectivity isn't a valid measure of something or doesn't have a place, I'm saying that place is for fucking gays who haven't the bollocks to stand by their own opinion.
