Better to give yourself a raise quiet-like and generously pay the dinner "out of your own pocket". :M

Given that this is probably the most funded game ever (I think Skyrimjob was $60 million), there's no excuse to paying below average salary to your people. Someone is skimming a hell of a lot off the top.

Too much to hope some decent single player game comes out of this or is all the scam fully directed towards the shitty pay-to-win no-lifer MMO part?

Where is the resident Kodex Khris Roberts Kockslurper, Blaine now? I wonder how many thousands of dollars he's poured into this.

Mars One was a small-time scam compared to this.

He did. But that was after spending well over a year defending the game. He tries to play it off cool now like he was just biding his time. But he was deeply invested in the cult.

Yeah I remember his butt being quite hurt the first time I remarked about the 50 000 new ships being advertised (and sold) every week while there wasn't even a game.

But now with a "development subscription" (lol) it's pretty obvious they are just trying to milk everything while there are still suckers out there. Inb4 "16 Micro-issues remain".

I almost feel bad for that "professional" a few pages back that spent $20k on this shit. Professional mark maybe. I do feel sorry for the poor wymyn that married him.

Jesus tip tap dancing christ, 80 fucking million dollars on a game announced back in 2012 with no playable alpha yet, no oversight and what will probably be the biggest feature creep in the history of gaming?

Seriously, how the hell would the actual budgeting and planning of the development work? They started out with a budget of 500 000 $ with hopefully plans and design scaled for that. How is it even possible to get any sort of coherent design if you keep adding millions every month to the budget? It's no surprise nothing is out yet, not only they can keep milking it but more importantly they are probably adding all sort of shit to the game constantly and changing their design every time they hear the cash register dinging in the background.

Or maybe the game still has a budget of 500 000$ with the rest of the money going in hookers and blow new spaceships.

I believe they actually started with 20 million, and the crowd funding was to prove there was a market for the game. As they got closer to that number there was talk they could not use the investor money and be more free.

Still don't know how you get from 20mil to 80 though or how there is still no game in sight.

As far as stretch goals go, they're not being extremely ridiculous feature-wise.

I mean, they've had the "boarding" FPS feature at 3.5 million dollars, and FPS ground combat at 20.

Most of the stretch goals seemed to be made of content stuff, like new ships, new systems, more customization component or that kind of stuff. They also seem to plan expansion packs for stuff that will not be at launch.

Really, as far as I can tell, they're not really pushing this into feature creep, most of the game (save for the FPS parts at least) seem to have normal features of typical space games or Eve Online.

I think I'd rather blame good old greediness and/or incompetence than feature creep.

Hard to justify a fourfold increase in budget when no game is in sight after more than 2 years and half of development. This will be either the greatest scam in the history of gaming or its greatest failure. Either way the codex wins :troll:

Or maybe ythey will actually release a good game, who knows?
