Fun post from another forum by the user "Cloverfield".

Cloverfield said:
The extreme levels of fidelity in Star Citizen are so awesome that the new salvage mechanic and the reclaimer claw (sold for around 400$) has just been announced as another great magic beam! You can not really beat such deep gameplay. 650 millions and 11+ years. This deserves records level of funding, I´d say.

Current beam list, to be updated:
- Mining Beam
- Tractor Beam
- Healing Beam
- Cutter Beam
- Scraping Beam
- Fracturing Beam
- Suction salvage Beam
- Repair Beam

And more!

Some fair comments:

Oversimplification, lack of identity, streamlining, box-checking

Why is hull mining a worst version of mining?

So no worries, this is just tier 0 implementation, 11+ years in.

We will get to the good stuff soon:

I think Chris Roberts might be getting high on the blood of little children to prolong his life-span, giving him a different perspective over time, like a bunch of fucking high elves or some shit.

Also, upgraded my PC, might sacrifice a few hours of my life and try free flight yet again, maybe record some new dank ass memes. Perkel when's the next one? Or shall I ask ADL to buy me a Legatus Pack, I heard he likes supporting the project.

I wonder if Roberts has already sold the TV/movie rights to this saga. After it (finally) collapses, this fabled endeavor will make a hilarious and fascinating HBO series.

There is like 1000+ episodes of various shows they did from design, to implementation, docs, narrative etc. of going back to early 2013 ranging from few minutes to hours per episode.

Part of reason why they get so much money and if someone actually wants to document everything they have ample amount of video to work with.

At least now there is an official release date.
Where?
2953
lol, reminds me of a post I saw awhile back:

It takes at least 10 years to build 1 star system at tier 0 out of 4. Now, I know even at tier 0 Stanton is not even remotely finished, but lets cut CiG some slack, because we are kind:)
So, 10 years per system. We need 110 more systems, so 110 * 10 = 1100 years. And since they'll have to redo most of it 4 times to bring everything to tier 4, we'll multiply our number by 4, which brings us at 1100 * 4 = 4400 years of development time.

Based on these elaborate calculations my estimated SC release date is the year 6422 (give or take a year) or almost 3500 years after the time in which Star Citizen is set. That will make Star Citizen the first game set in the distant future and the ancient past at the same time.

Made a little recap of the show so far...

Pre-production started in 2010.
Production started in 2011.
Kickstarter ended in Nov 2012 with $2,134,374 from 34,397 backers.

In 2013 & 2014 we got two polls to extend features and development milestones:

Q: What should we do with the crowdfunding counter after we reach our goal? (Total Votes: 21076 - 8% of Citizens, 12% of alpha backers)

5% - Take the funds raised counter down after $23 million (mission achieved!)

7% - Have the funding counter display the amount towards the current stretch goal / feature, not the total amount once we reach $23M.

88% - Keep it up through development and continue to offer stretch goal rewards in addition to extra features and development milestones.

Q: Should we continue to offer stretch goals? (Total Votes: 34590 - 7% of Citizens, ~14% of alpha backers)

55% - Yes

26% - No

20% - No preference

Finally there is one very important element – the more funds we can raise in the pre-launch phase, the more we can invest in additional content (more ships, characters etc.) and perhaps more importantly we can apply greater number of resources to the various tasks to ensure we deliver the full functionality sooner rather than later.

There has been some concern about “feature creep” with the additional stretch goals. You should all know that we carefully consider the goals we announce. Typically the stretch goals fall into two categories;

The first are goals that involve features we already have planned or have implemented, but we couldn’t create content because of budgetary constraints. The first person combat on select planets is a great example of this type of goal. We already have FPS combat as part of the game in ship boarding, and we already have most of this already functional thanks to CryEngine, as we essentially have Crysis3 functionality out of the box. But creating all the environments and assets to fill them is a huge task, so we were planning on not doing any planetside combat initially, simply because of its cost, with the idea that we would slowly roll it out once the game is live. But with the additional funds we can now afford to create some of this content earlier rather than later.

Entering 2024:

(I believe this does not count with private investments, subscriptions and refunds.)

Alongside the funding grows the "micro"transactions, such as:

($10,000 must be spent to unlock this purchase)

Twitch Stats cuz "player engagement":

Still on the "player engagement" note, by 2022, according to Chris Roberts himself:

Today there are just over four million accounts with 1.7 million accounts of them having purchased the game
Roberts went on to say that the average number of daily players in 2022 was 50,000, with a peak of 130,000 players happening several times during the year. "But the amazing stat is that the average player who logs-in in 2022 is three hours a day," Roberts said. "Back in 2017, it was just 48 minutes…and from there it's just been increasing."
Registering for a Star Citizen RSI account is free, but players do need to purchase game packages to play the alpha--the cheapest being $45.
As of September 2022, Cloud Imperium Games raised over $500 million

Meaning that back in 2022 Star Citizen had around 6,000 hourly average players online, and around $300 spent per account on a $45 alpha build.

Leaving it not far above Elite Dangerous hourly average on Steam alone: https://steamcharts.com/app/359320

Released back in 2014 and often referred as a failure of a video game by a few SC players.

Meanwhile pictures of Chris and his wife on a Yacht circle around the internet alongside with details about a mansion purchased in the UK.
It's indeed another awesome year for Chris Roberts, truly never been done before and I hope they keep beating funding records for the decades to come, I want no excuses for it not living up to the hype.

Fuck me. Seems that i am the problem.

My friend who played arma a lot once asked what i am playing and i got him into SC saying this is effectively broken arma in space. We played a bit together for few hours. He ended up lending my thrusmaster 2x t16000 sticks. Dude was blow away and he went buy his own sticks. I stopped playing since i mostly test new patches for few hours at best.

half a year later he hails me back on discord and he asks me to play again. I say sure, i had time.
Well we start playing and he from get go proposed to use his Carrack which is huge multiplayer ship that cost a lot ingame money.

I asked him did you grind so much ? And dude said he just bought it. You WOT ? Turns out he spent like $3000 already on SC not counting different set of more expensive sticks, pedals and new pc to play it properly.
And dude isn't loaded. Just normal policeman job.

He asks me how much did i spent and i told him 1$ and he seriously couldn't believe that.

How the fuck you get to place where you spend $3000 buck on game when your pay is shit ?

"Forgive me, father, for I have sinned."

"What sins have you committed, my son?"

"I, uh... I betrayed my wife... I betrayed myself..."

"Say ten Hail Maries and buy her flowers. What else?"

"I ordered the death of my brother... He injured me... I killed my mother's son! I killed my father's son!"

"Say ten more Hail Maries and put flowers on his grave. What else?"

"I got a friend hooked on Star Citizen..."

"Get the fuck out!"

Sounds more like a cult level scam than a game scam tbh.

It's like the space game version of the Church of Scientology.

Some day Xenu Chris Roberts will take us away to the Promised Land! Just need to pay my tithes!
