Perkel, buddy, there is a reason why mobile gaming accounts for over 50% of all game market revenue while only about 5% players spend money on it.

There is also a reason why you can find reddit posts in the Star Citizen section of people asking for help because they fucked up their marriages after spending their life savings in JPGs.

Know your target audience, its money making 101 by retards, for retards.

Yeah not only this game is the biggest scam in the entire industry, which is already mind blowing enough, it is also a cult too, like for real. The inner circle of the Star Citizen fanbase would probably do human sacrifice rituals daily if it would mean the game's development gets some progress - they'd do it for the mere promise of it in fact. I knew a guy that I'd consider to be a part of this group and his obsession with the game was unlike any I've ever seen (including the most deranged codexers).

How the fuck you get to place where you spend $3000 buck on game when your pay is shit ?
Your friend is a whale. Don't question it, just realize your friend is a lost cause now.
No one in their right mind should be spending $3000 on a video game - unless they're the ones making said game. I'm guilty of that software and hardware are fucking expensive especially when you're doing 3D work.

I do wish people would stop with the "It'll be good once its released" bullshit, this is the release dumbasses, you don't go live with an MMO unless you're at release - its why Betas are usually included with pre-orders or given out as a stress test demo. You think the devs are going to suddenly change because of some arbitrary 1.0 when in the history of early access has that ever been the case, 1.0 will happen and then Roberts will book his flight to some island in the carribean. I hear Little Saint James doesn't have an owner anymore.

Coming up with money for whaling is easier if you redirect it from other expenses. Like people who are always broke for everything except booze.

My e-doctor diagnostic is that your friend would whale for something else eventually since you didn't encourage him to spend money, it's probably his personality

It was a screen shot of a post at SC refunds reddit page, but I can't seem to find it anymore, if the OP didn't censor the user name & reddit name of the screen shot it might have been deleted.

Turns out he spent like $3000 already on SC not counting different set of more expensive sticks, pedals and new pc to play it properly.
And dude isn't loaded. Just normal policeman job.

Star Citizen Introducing a $48,000 Ship Bundle, but Only for Players Who Have Already Spent $1,000

Hey big spender.

Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games is releasing a ship bundle for its controversial space simulator that costs an eye-watering $48,000.

Revealed on its website, the Legatus 2953 pack will arrive in the first quarter of 2024 and cost $48,000 despite the game not having officially launched yet.
"Ahead of all others, this definitive armada is an equal match to the noble title of Legatus Navium," the Legatus 2953 item page reads. "Comprised of over 175 vessels from every manufacturer of note, this perfect collection, including all ships released and concepted through 2953, empowers every fleet commander to forge a lasting legacy, leading humanity towards a brighter future."

Adding even more to the price, the Legatus 2953 pack is only available to members of Star Citizen's Chairman's Club, which can only be entered after spending $1,000 on other items in game.

Star Citizen is considered one of the most controversial projects in all video games. Over the years it's been called many things, including a scam by those who wonder whether it will ever properly launch.

What cannot be denied is the huge amount of money so far raised by Star Citizen, which CIG displays on its website. At the time of this article’s publication, Star Citizen had raised $658,161,596 from more than five million accounts.

Bro, what the fuck are you even linking? You can't even trust the company itself let alone some shady ass low effort blog post... but yeah, 2025 for "Star Citizen 1.0" with 5 systems sound legit as fuck.

Yet again, you proven yourself right, as always:

From the SC leaks discord
tl;dr - SQ42 pt1 release in 2021
unknown-88.png

I've always said Star Citizen is two to three years behind SQ42's first release so 2023/2024 given the virus seems plausible given that a lot of the tech and assets are shared between the two projects.
Also not pictured is "confirmation" that they're porting Theaters of War to consoles which basically confirms SQ42 and probably Star Citizen's release on next gen consoles. Why not? Those consoles are better than 97% of the "PC master race" in my Discord server.

Two more weeks until Squadron 42's release according to the GeForce Now leaks
Nice two week gap between SQ42 and SC so you can experience the lore before jumping into the verse

You fucking muppet, time to remove Chris Roberts Rolex out of that ass and be quiet.

They want to live in another world that they feel is better than their own.

It's completely tapping into the religious impulses of people wanting more in life. Many things do this in our world today. Same thing was causing people depression after watching Avatar and realizing they'd never live as a Naavi on Pandora.

Big oof. I haven't seen stuff like that since the height of WoW. Game addiction is a thing and it's never good. Some types of games are unhealthy in the way they try to screw with people and dominate all their time and money. Predatory products, basically.

In this case it isn't how the game is designed, but what the game offers.

This is for people who wish they were born 1000 years later where they could be space heroes. They want to live in another world and are running high on imagining the day when can rather than just getting the simple MMO dopamine hits WOW gave.

The irony being that investing so much time in fictional worlds harms their real life far more than not being a giant smurf ever will. There comes a time where you have to say no, this is not healthy and I need to make something healthy around me. Gaming can be a part of it, but it shouldn't be a major part of it.

It's become a problem even with single player games. Roguelikes are often straight up gambling with it's item drops. Binding of Isaac is very heavy on gambling, so are games like Dead Cells and it's some how worse than Diablo 2 ever was. It's been refined and multi layers of extra rarities as modifiers have been added to make it even worse. Now you're gambling on your items and then getting rewarded if you finish a run with stricter and stricter drops needed to make it viable.

WoW did the same thing for ugly house wives. You would be shocked how many women play sexy online avatars because they're plain IRL or their husband isn't giving them enough attention. If you ever want a rabbit hole look into the women on second life and probably on VR chat these days. They make ogres look attractive.

Don't see a problem? These people are meant to be exploited and if you aren't doing it, somebody else will and will do much more damage. The only morally wrong thing is actively pursuing these people by marketing. Everything else is fair game.
Reminds me of a interview with a owner of a thot website seeing somebody giving away their life saving and stepping in and telling the guy to not do this. His result, the guy came back after a week to a different thot and the owner said "Skin him for everything he owns".
It is not a drug fucking up their brain or a gun being put to their head. It is just a weak personality that will jump to other addictions if you get him off.

Also, equating gambling with roguelikes is one of the most stupidest thing I have ever seen. Most roguelikes don't allow you to get free items for monies nor do they allow you to throw real money like lootboxes. Especially for Isaac since ingame money is tied heavily to RNG.

Money is abstract. My brain doesn't know the difference between dead cells money and the money I see while online banking. The mechanism of gambling is gambling none the less.

Probably a huge pile of nothing as usual, but there are rumors of NDA conditional layoffs, reports of Spectrum accounts changes from "Staff" to "Backer", a 30% reduction in revenue compared to last January, and fancy sales popping up as mushrooms.

Features for 3.23 (~april) officially announced. Knowing CIG most of those will be moved to further patches...

Release View

Replication Layer Update

Testing continues for this important update to the persistent universe's back end database. This release will remain fluid in regards to timing as edge cases are solved and performance is optimized. With this publish, we're moving this card to the Alpha 3.23 column, but keep an eye on Spectrum and the Tech Preview channel for the latest on the Replication Layer.

The following cards have been added to Release View in the Alpha 3.23 patch cycle, currently targeting a April 2024 release:

Starmap Rework

Implementing the new and improved Starmap with improved visuals and usability, including easier search and trip planning functionality.

mobiGlas Rework

Reworking the mobiGlas system to use Building Blocks, which will also allow for easier development of mobiGlas apps. This update includes reworked Home, Maps, Contract Manager, and Journal apps.

FPS Map System

Implementing a minimap for the HUD as well as interior maps for FPS gameplay, helping players stay oriented in close-quarter encounters.

Personal and Instanced Hangars

Creating new tech that creates an instance of the player's hangar to allow for uninterrupted management of cargo, inventory, and vehicles. Personal hangars are found at the player's home location and allow for customization and organization of the hangar interior.

Freight Elevators

Implementation of systems and content for players to physically load and unload cargo to and from their ships by conveying cargo to and from hangars, landing pads, garages, and docking collars.

Item Bank & Unique Item Recovery

Adding Item Bank kiosks to the persistent universe, allowing players to retrieve and store FPS items at multiple locations. This addition will also allow players to retrieve lost account-bound items, such as subscriber flair.

New Missions - Cargo Hauling

Making use of the Freight Elevators feature, this mission type will have players hauling large quantities of cargo to earn both aUEC and reputation.

Dynamic Crosshair

Combat helmets now support the dynamic crosshair which allows for quicker target acquisition in close-quarter situations.

EVA T2

Improved EVA controls and animations for smoother traversal in Zero-G. Later iterations will introduce limited EVA fuel and encourages the use of zero-G push/pull and the Multi-Tool's tractor beam.

FPS Loot Screen

Introducing a new screen for looting critical items quickly, allowing for more reliable inventory management in tense situations.

New Character Customizer

Implementing an overhaul of the player character creator for Star Citizen, including a new user interface and additional customization options.

Visor & Lens HUD Rework

Converting the Visor and Lens systems to Building Blocks for improved performance and flexibility.

Distribution Centers

Creating new traversable areas offering gameplay opportunities in corporate industrial environments. This initial release includes the surface levels of the facilities, with underground areas coming in a later update.

Dynamic Event: Blockade Runner

Introducing a new dynamic event that involves a criminal faction (Nine Tails) locking down an LEO and L1/L2 rest stops. Players must run the blockade and purchase and sell a percentage of Quantanium before time runs out.

Reputation - Hostility

Adding a new feature to the Reputation system where players will encounter AI that are either friendly or hostile based on their reputation with the organization the AI belong to. This also includes different friendly-fire thresholds and defense responses.

Player Interaction Experience

Implementing the updated Player Interaction Experience; a holistic array of complimentary features and systems, all related directly to the player. Player status, item status, environment status, as well as interactions with both the game world and the objects within it, are covered under these systems.

Master Modes

Implementing new modes to vehicles to manage their speed, components, and role-specific functions. This release introduces the NAV and SCM modes, as well as a complete re-tuning of all ships.
