The longer the game goes on, the more it feels like this is what they intended it to be. Basically being able to fuck up a little, and come away from it without resigning. There's a little more healing, there's places to retreat to, there's combo/blocking/heavy/movement skills. Things that make you feel like a slippery bastard.
At the same time enemies do get harder, but with everything there is at your disposal, getting your ass kicked is your fault.

Early game is so much worse in comparison, and just doesn't give a good impression. They should have tweaked something.

No cheating. Killed purple ninja after 60+ tries.

First time ever I got butthurt in a souls series game. Butthurt for real.

He does miri attack after one specific long combo, and the low kick attack after another specific long combo, so you've got plenty of time to prepare. Still, the amount of attacks that are too quick to parry is too much.

it s been ages since i've had this much fun with a game.

this is much more tenchu/ninja gaiden, hell even metal hear rev than a souls game, which is great since i don t rate dark souls that high.

some boss fights feel like a dance it s something else.

as for the purple guy i've lost count how many times i died to him but did kill him. something close to one hundred times i'm sure

The old Souls trick of taking a break still helps. Yesterday, the bull tore me 1278127 new assholes but today, I got him on my first try.

or people are not using all the tools at their disposal

Largely this. People are expecting a Souls game and not experimenting enough, despite explicitly being told it's not a Souls game. This game actively subverts these expectations and pisses people off because of it.

Don't lock on, turn auto lock off, and run around his ass. You're gunna fuck him up.

This is what I did. Figured it out after 20 tries . This was a troll boss for certain. There is zero reason to block/Dodge/jump. Just Sprint up his ass.

Getting good. Beat the HorseKnight without resurrection. What a great fight, fair but very tense. Easier if you have the skill to grapple enemies and jump on them to attack.

The lady seems harder.

Started yesterday and ended just after the bull fight. Wasn't that hard, I got him on my second try. Attacking him head on breaks his posture really quickly, you just have to be careful to not get hit. Hardest fights were against lady butterfly and the drunk guy so far. Horse guy was really easy after a few tries, I didn't even need to use my second life as I discovered all of his attacks are really easy to dodge.

I like the game so far. Love the setting and atmosphere. Combat I am still getting used to. I like they tried something new but am I am still relying on dodge instead of parry way too much. I does feel a little cheap sometimes when bosses go into a flurry of attacks, some delayed and some super quick. I mean, I've died so many times already in 1 day all the NPC's I've met already have dragonrot. What does it even do anyway? Are they going to die? Does dragonrot have story implications? I doubt I can just stop dying in this game.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Today's progress (small spoilers for boss tactics):

- Killed the horse first try; just deflected everything, the parry windows are retard-friendly.

- Got the bull on 10th try, deflecting his lighter horn strikes helped (not his charge attack); this gets his posture down much faster than scratching his ass for chip dmg, plus he gets stunned for a while and you get to take a few hits at his head which seems to be crit dmg.

- Got Drunkard first try today - kill off his ads, stab him from stealth once, then recruit the NPC to help. Easy peasy.

- Got to lady Butterfly. After the first fight realized there's noone to summon this time around and got drenched in cold sweat.

- Tried to go somewhere else. Not to spoil much but that feeling when you took that lift from Undead Parish to Firelink the first time? It's here again and it was a nice touch.

- Took another few swings at the purple ninja, got laughed in my face; how the fuck do you beat this dude? Also there's another one, this time with two dots lol

- There's another big samurai-type miniboss, like the very first one, but this time around with a spear; easy, though I, just mikiri him to death. Yeah, no. He somehow shrugs the mikiri counter and slaps you in the face instead. Nothing else works. One hit kills you and his posture recovers in an instant. What the fuck.

- Discovered my first secret wall. Nice.

- It was a good day but I'm p. much stuck rn. Everyone laughs in my face while raeping me from behind. Plus I'm literally ONE prayer bead from levelling up both my VIT and Attack Power. FromSoft gib co-op plox.

How did you get a hit on him from stealth? I know there's a path on the left you can use to flank them before they notice you, but the first enemy is a shield dude (that you can't stealth attack without alerting everyone else) and from memory the drunkard wasn't in attack range.

has anyone found out what the vault over skill is used for? I mean the description states you can vault over a posture broken enemy and then stealthdeathblow him from behind even midcombat, but why would you not just normal deathblow him from the front, isnt the outcome the same?

Afraid not. It's a pretty weird skill. Maybe there's an enemy later on you can't kill from the front? Otherwise i dunno.

Fighting that nameless guy in purple at the three story pagoda that kicks you all over the place is some of the most intense shit I've felt by fighting in a video game.

Felt the same for the first two tries.... then I one-hit backstabbed that son of bitch, proving that I'm the superior shinobi!

Take that left path, backstab the shield guy and then immediately haul ass back into the path and into the small building at the end. In my case the drunkard didn't follow, he just walked in the middle of the arena and stood there. So I got to gib another shield guy and a torch guy who are guarding him, then sneaked up on drunkard and backstabbed him.

You basically kill off the ads and reset the fight. Then he is the only one left and you can get a hit from stealth easily, then you just summon the blue samurai and it's 2v1.

So as long as you're hugging the wall and come across a hidden door, it'll get opened? Ok, I'm hugging all walls now...
Yep. Just look out for walls that look different from the others. There's no need to go around hugging all walls. Once you realize what distinguishes hidden walls from the regular ones it'll be easy.

lady butterfly is triggering me hard, her first phase is a cake walk but the 2nd with her butterfly shuriken annoy the fuck out of me
When I gave up on trying to parry her I just went full HAM and realized that the AI didn't know how to cope with that, so I just stunlocked her to death. Occasionally she'd try to jump up in the air but when you throw a shuriken she'll fall down and then you can just continue stunlocking her. It works on both phases.
