Russian games are generally less buggy than eurojank or calitrash.

Exhibit A

Bugfinder: Blyatmaker

Pretty much every Russian game is a counterpoint to Pretty's post
Do you imply that INSOMNIA was not bug free on release?
I haven't personally encountered any bug there, but I stopped playing after an hour because I got other stuff to do, so my experience might not be very valueable in that regard.

The story has a conclusion
lol what conclusion?

If it ended in
asylum
it would be. Instead you randomly
learn about some book. You actually dont know anything about it besides cultists seeking it. And you suddenly go like: i must get it.
And you try to get it only to suddenly stop.

The ending is open to interpretation, but my reading is that it shows you what the Dismal Man has been leading you on for all along. Your journey to Miskatonic University is responsible for a great calamity, your character has become an abomination due to the stresses of the journey and has to try to make things right, etc., etc. It is a cliffhanger ending, but it does enough to suggest what exactly is going to happen in the story. It isn't truly satisfying but it's enough to go on until further updates

Spreading skills seems too tempting and there are few obvious choices (like never invest in firearm if you go melee). With just 1 subterfuge I can lockpick much. With just 1 psychology there are few dialogue check but I get the skill to restore a lot of sanity during rest so seems very powerful for just 1 point. Also since butler+outsider synergize very well and outsider has tagged occultism and medicine it is worth for main character built for melee investing in those skills?

At science 8 you can unlock a repeater gun which does 1-5 damage but only cost 2 ap. It uses .22 ammunitions.
I am curious what's behind science 9 and 10, same for survival.

It's not often you can learn to make whiskey, give it to your dog, then cure said dog of alcoholism.
Ahhh really hate that shit about rpg. Both Alcohol and cigarettes are not highly addictive substances. It is needed a long term heavy exposure for one to become addicted to them. People don't get addicted to booze because they got drunk once.

Where do I find food in this shit? This way I'm gonna starve before getting insane. Not lovecraftian at all! :argh:

Buy cans of spaghetti and stuff from the vendors. Junk merchant has food I believe.

Yeah I like it a lot too. My only issue was a near-impossible random encounter that I eventually got lucky and avoided. Hoping future combat isn't like that one encounter was.

I talked my way through the thugs at the distillery and spoke to Wheat, he asked me to kill the thugs, but I don't have anything in my inventory to poison the whiskey barrel with, and neither can I attack the bandits now.

Mr. Wheat at the distillery gave me no poison when he was supposed to (either that, or i lost the poison somehow, but I don't think I ever received it), and now i cannot progress. it doesn't even let me get into a fight w/ the mob to get around not having the poison. they just say "beat it pal" so i am stuck at the distillery. any solutions/workarounds or do I need to start a new game/reload 6 hours back? I will probably never finish this game if it comes to that, I've been enjoying it but it's not worth wasting that much time to get back where I am

You have to tell Mr Wheat that you suck at fighting so he takes pity on you and gives you the poison. He doesn't do it automatically. Reload an earlier save and try that, it should work.

The game already overwrote all my saves from before I talked to him. I didn't realize anything was wrong until hours later when I came back. The game only allows a few save slots from what I can tell and automatically overwrites old ones (arguably the worst design decision in the game especially when you release a game with potential dead ends) Even if I could re-load the old save, it would erase 6 or 7 hours of progress and I'm sorry, it's not worth doing that again when I have other less buggy options

Looks Like I reached a dead end state of my game. How 80s/90s.... no... how LOVECRAFTIAN!

But really, does anyone else have any ideas or work around for my dead end? Is there some kind of skill check I can grind up to so it will unlock? an alternative solution? Or is this game over for me?

This is a shame because I was really enjoying this game and it appears I literally cannot progress further now.

I never had any issues with finding enough food. It's cheap and plentiful. Buy some cans of food at the pawn shop and you should be fine.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
I can't make up my mind about this game.

On one hand I love the atmosphere and half the writing. On the other hand: the other half of the writing has grammar mistakes, and is utterly mediocre - and the gameplay is mediocre at best.

I haven't finished the game yet, so this is all preliminary, but I have this distinct feeling this game will become a niche favourite to some of the freaks that play 1 game during Halloween season.
Will see.
