It Is normal find randomly 1-3 cigs in already looted container?

there are food in the bar, pawn shop, everywhere. how retarded are you to starve in this game?
I guess people has so much junk in inventory that don't realize that canned food become rations.

So I just noticed this little bit on the game's title screen:

I guess that explains a lot.

One problem I see with this game is that it kind of falls between the two major types of RPG players, those who want story, atmosphere, and lore, and those who want detailed mechanics and rewarding combat. I've seen a lot of whinging on Steam about the combat being too hard and so forth, so those people are alienated by having to use combat tactics and planning their builds, or not being able to do stuff without spending skill points. They also complain about having to roleplay their alignment, because that isn't enough "choice". Basically, the Biobeth crowd is getting destroyed because god forbid they get some melee skill to open a crate, and they can't interact with the game in a haphazard fashion.

On the other hand, the combat lacks tactics, it's fairly easy with virtually any build, and there aren't a lot of extra systems to really engage with.

It's for a niche type of player, the person who enjoys the reactivity found in games like Bloodlines or Fallout, where you get different dialogue options, different quest solutions, etc. and experimentation with skills and builds to see what the game accommodates is part of the game itself. But I'm not sure if this game will find an audience, or at least the right type of audience.

Huge amounts of potential there, it'd be a shame if it's a "one and done" scenario.

So, are there any news about the state of the game stream the devs said was going to be done yesterday?

I would be alienated too if I had to use something that isn't there
the person who enjoys the reactivity found in games like Bloodlines or Fallout
Well, Fallout, Arcanum, Bloodlines and PST are half of the Codex's top 10, and all of them arguably have worse combat than Stygian.

Lol, my bad. I mean there are rudimentary tactics and some basic principles for building characters, which they seem to not understand, otherwise they wouldn't have any issues.

Edit: my post is more diagnosing the attitudes of the average consumer, not Codex, as the combat should be a non-issue for anyone who posts here.

So what do you expected from a game based on Lovecraft? Romancing the Mi-Go?
I'm waiting for a Lovecraft RPG where you play as the horrors rather than the humans. You can still start off weak and stuff, but the point of the game should be to become stronger and create dominion over the weaklings.
Already exists.

It's called Bloodborne.

But it's not on PC which is the real tragedy here if you think about it.

The funny thing about the Spanish henchman though is that he seems completely unaffected by the miasma in the blasted street. Like, I get why the other companions aren't - they're all undead - but he seems properly human.

Is there even a use for the Sex Appeal stat, I started as depraved occultist woman but didn't notice any sex appeal options anywhere.

I haven't really noticed much use at all for sex appeal, presence, or speechcraft compared to other options. I think you might be able to get hookers for free? But otherwise it's an underdeveloped part of the game.

I ran with high speechcraft through the entirety of the game and felt like I had a ton of [Speechcraft] options popping up all over the place, many of which seemed to very nicely change the outcome of the situation in my favor.

Yeah, checks only appear if you have the skill for them. Possibly even, if your skill is already high enough. At least I never had a checked option fail.

When invest more than 1? Still beginning but get many and never fail, maybe with honest billy's heir shopkeeper (game said succeded speechcraft but didn't get the discount or the quest/favor to obtain It). Game is clear only with combat skills.

I have no doubt that's the case. That said, you also get lots of speech options for medicine, science and psychology, which are better-rounded skills. Psychology lets you heal sanity damage on rest, resist sanity damage by increasing mental resistance, and also has a really high number of dialogue checks. Medicine lets you craft insane amounts of powerful drugs (though Outsider can do that now), heal on rest, as well as providing speech options. Science opens up crafting options.

So yeah, I'm being a little hyperbolic, the game responds well to the different builds. I just feel like speechcraft, besides those checks, doesn't do more beyond saving some cigs here or there and getting some discounts. I think Presence needs to be buffed, either by adding in NPC and/or companion reaction mechanics, possibility of providing some passive buffs to followers, or link to skills beyond just Speechcraft.

I think occult is the most powerful skill in the game. It's at the same time a combat skill, governing spell damage, a rest skill, allowing to research artifacts, and has a ton of dialog and environmental uses (plus non-combat spells). Coupled with high will, which gives you both a ton of sanity and a high mental resistance, you're just turning into a juggernaut with zero need for drugs or other consumables.

why would you play a game without smoking, drugs, whiskey?
I'm also living a life without most of these things. In both cases, never had a need.

No, just having a high will, high mind build.

I haven't personally encountered any bug there, but I stopped playing after an hour because I got other stuff to do, so my experience might not be very valueable in that regard.

Insomnia’s character creation is bugged. Not a joke.

How do I get into room 303? (the one with Carrion Jack, or something).

Beat him in a drinking contest with a survival check and Copperhead Whiskey
or
shoot the motherfucker and also a dozen other motherfuckers that burst into the room
