I do not want to spoil the story for some of You lads but Parvati actually was a guy named Frank at first.

The game has a skill system. It groups skills in an innovative way (no matter if it is pointless considering the broken economy of the game)

The system is flawed but it's somewhat innovative and make some sense. Strength actually increases intimidation , as Int increases long guns and persuade, if you experience with range guns , you might know something when comes to ranged , heavy and handgus, etc.. It has some good idea that's fall flat mainly because the game difficulty is insanely easy and you gain too much points while leveling up. But nothing that J.Sawyer can't hadle a patch or two can't fix it.
Yes, i did look very closely at the system though apparently not close enough to not miss pickpocket and i have the same conclusion, which is why i said the system is pointless. The game on supernova is super easy. Not just because of the damage numbers, but because the economy is so thoroughly broken. I don't know if patches will be enough to fix this. Much of the game's exploration is rewarded by giving you basic items, since unique loot is very rare. You can't fix that so easily by patching, since removing the items is not an option if you don't have a substitute. TOW is not a post-apocalyptic world and so the abundance makes some sense, but man, it sure does ruin the economy and difficulty. Regardless, the RPG system in TOW are, imo, not so praise-worthy despite its good ideas. There are tons of stat-systems with good ideas, including SPECIAL. That alone is not enough. In TOW there really aren't much point to builds. It's very easy to make a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-all. Also, the game play does not support that many approaches due to the sever lack of weapon variety in combat, and approach-variety outside. Stealth, Persuasion, Combat. That's what first-person RPGs have always been, and TOW certainly does not break out of that mold. I said this before, TOW is technically a competent game (even though it's lacking in gameplay) but that's not enough.

My prediction is that when all is said and done, TOW will be a point of comparison to contrast Cyberpunk 2077's greatness by. I'm certainly hoping for such a scenario.

Wow this cohh video is pathetic. His list of "great, foundational stuff that signals [incline]":
  • The game has a skill system. It groups skills in an innovative way (no matter if it is pointless considering the broken economy of the game)
  • The great engaging story (what)?
  • Sweeping choices that alter the world. (no problems here)
  • The game doesn't crash/is a finished product.
Fuck. I mean this is how low the bar is huh?

Yeah. You would do the same.

The bar is almost non-existent when you have Microsoft's money in your pocket.

Why would completion rates be low, when even here most people can't seem to be able to quit?

I mean, judging by the last 50 pages, the internal monologue of TOW's biggest haters looks like this:

This is so bad.
You've gained a new level!
Why is everything so vapid?
You've opened a new container!
I don't want to play this anymore.
You've gained a new level!
I need to stop playing this.
You've opened a new container!
What is happening to me?
You've gained a new level!
FUCK THIS GAME!
You've opened a new container!
FUCK OBSIDIAN, FEARGUS AND MICROSOFT
You've gained a new level!
FUCK THIS GAY EARTH!
You've opened a new container!

The gameplay loop never really gives you time to breathe, let alone stop playing. Although I suspect all the lootwhoring is going to become intensely irritating during subsequent runs.

This game is great , i hope for Obsidian will get positive tons of money from Microsoft to develop it into the long series of games , like Elder Scrolls or modern Fallouts. I like Obsidian attitude more, than present Bethesda. Todd Howard and his guys for now looks for me like losing sharp Edge and become mmo everything and nothing at once dealers. Where for the fuck sake are Times of Morrowind and even Skyrim . TODD FOR FUCK SAKE ! GET BACK TO SINGLE PLAYER GAMES! TO THE BIG AS FUCK SINGLE PLAYER EPIC cRPGS WITH MODDING BACKGROUND THAT MAKE THEM IMMORTAL . FUCK!
You're giving Micmu a good name, keep at it.

Also, geez nobody is talking about how barebones TOW is as an RPG. Builds are non-existent, there is no pickpocket, no traps/mines, not even grenades! Not that much weapon variety, no gambling, no minigames, no haggling, no real sense of economy either in the world or in the numbers, it's such a lazy, lazy game. Why all the praise? Even forgetting about the story, how can you say the outer worlds has 60 dollars worth of gameplay in it?

The biggest thorn in my play is the itemization. I truly wish equipment had skill point requirements. I love when RPGs do that. I hate how here you can equip any weapon, or don any armor without any penalty. Although I totally understand that to reach a mass market audience, this would alienate the casuals.

Tried to listen to Cohh, but couldn't hear him from all the shekel jingling in the back.

Nah, you just can't expect someone like Cohh to start ranting about wokeness. Also with him it's "polished meciocrity >>>> flawed but outstanding", of course he'd be impressed with TOW.
Oh i wasn't expecting him to whine about sjw garbage, but the game is bare bones without the political shit. It is unfinished mess with poor writing, rpg system and level design. I can't see how people would say that this game is some amazing goty game to be remembered for decades. It is mediocre and boring garbage,it is not bad or broken...just very boring.

That's why you don't do any and uninstall.exe after first run.

system reqs are actually pretty good so I'm going in.
They seem to be lowered on purpose (aka it is all a lie). Game actually does need good GPU and also an SSD to avoid loading screens. Otherwise only thing to save you from screen tearing and stuff would be setting an option to lock game at 30 FPS to On.

I thought this would't work on my system, but the system reqs are actually pretty good so I'm going in.

Be aware that while it has low requirements, the framerate can be pretty unstable. With a 2070 and Ryzen 3600 I get drops to the 50s in cities, even on low settings, but on "Ultra" I get 80-100fps outside.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Btw before anyone starts taking CohhCarnage too seriously and giving him too much credit for liking inclined RPGs like Elex, Pathfinder or Greedfall:

"MEA is one of my favourite Mass Effects. It combines the great world of the original trilogy with pioneering spirit of the old Star Trek. I loved the characters, I loved the story. The only thing preventing MEA to be my GOTY were the animations."

So yeah, this guy is basically a high-functioning idiot.

You say "Free People" where others would say "Terrorists" Pepe.

So, how woke is this game? I didn't remove it from inventory, not sure if it is worth the install.
moderately, not-so-subtle

they won't hit on you bioware style, but most quest givers/leaders are women (also old women, rough women with scars, women of different race and color), men are grunts/incompetent/shallowly written/bandits/crazies, whoever is not is probably an adorable scientist or is a secondary npc.

I haven't been taking count on men/women ratios or how many different coloured rainbow people there are, so I cant help there. As they did with Fallout it's a game that doesn't take itself seriously at all - this is a good thing.

Just know you'll be playing something they made as an rpg first, there's enough reactivity and c&c to keep you playing for sure. It's just the setting that falls very flat for something set in space, it's not fleshed out. I guess this is what they mean they say AA game.
