I've tried it and I really like it. Not really planning on using it right now since my PC is not in the living room, but I can see how it would be very useful for HTPC folk.

Played with the consoletard interface a bit. It's tolerable if for whatever reason you want your PC to be more like a console. Since it's optional I'm not getting out my pitchfork but it's not really something I'll ever use beyond just messing with it for shits and giggles.
Optional? Wait until the market shifts. It's fucking decline bro. Decline! :decline:

Well, define "creative".

I would define creativity as useless pretentious shit. There is a reason why Shakespeare remains the greatest European dramatist that ever lived to this day. You can make something new, but if you can't make it better, then all you are doing is hiding yourself behind your own ineptitude and hope people won't notice. Standards of quality and greatness do no operate in an horizontal, progressive manner. They stand in a fixed position above everything else and you can either approach them in an ascending, vertical manner, or you can simply wallow in your own mediocrity.

All that creativity and innovation yet they don't produce anything creative or innovative. Why the fuck would you waste time redesigning mouse and keyboard? The reason it hasn't changed over the years is because it works.

Right, and the point ought to be to make something that works even better, like this:

http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide

Instead, we get to regress to something that is not only less functional, but also of lesser quality to begin with. All because the hipster fags at Valve feels its high time for innovashaun. :decline:

Eh. Most/a fair number of big budget games are already either designed with consoles in mind or have controller support anyway, and I don't see the demand for this being such that it pushes all PC gaming toward controllers any more than the actual consoles have.

Was getting mildly concerned because my screenshot space on Steam was under 100 megs (or 200 megs, I forget. I think 100 though). Fortunately Gaben's got my back and as I was uploading screenshots just a few minutes ago I saw I have 2 gigs of space available now. :kfc:

Thanks Gaben!

Hahaha @ all the Gaben love. You guys have all fallen for his marketing ploy - you think he's cool because he is fat and dresses like a nerd (like you do).

Meanwhile Steam is forced on everything (so DRM is forced on everything). Steam is one of the worst kinds of DRM, you're forced to use it all the fucking time and god forbid should I want to close it, I have to wait like three minutes for it to do stupid shit I never wanted it to do. "YOU CAN'T CLOSE STEAM, STEAM MUST SYNC SHIT TO THE CLOUD" - Fuck off! If I tell you to close then you should just close, I shouldn't have to use the task manager to make you do the thing you're supposed to do.

When EA gives something away for free, or Ubisoft gives something away for free, or any fucking company gives something away for free people tend to scrutinize, they smell something fishy, they never take it at face value. But if Gaben gives something away for free, it's out of the goodness of his heart! No sir, there's no bigger plan involved, gaben is just a cool fat nerd like me! Dumbasses, no company gives shit away for free for no purpose, no company wants to make less money.

Look at all these cheap games! Gaben is the best! Yeah, like you would've ever paid more than five bucks to own those half-assed indie games anyway (that you probably play for a grand total of five minutes). Except that of course, you don't actually own them.

When EA or Ubisoft make games exclusive to their online DRM service, everyone starts yelling and screaming, but when Valve does it, nobody so much as bats an eyelash. Face it, Valve has done what every other publisher in the world has wanted to do. Make DRM sexy. They're like Apple. They even have a guru that everyone fawns around, swallowing whatever shit comes out of his mouth without so much as a second thought as to what he is saying. But if Gaben says it, it must be true! Gaben can do no wrong! It's funny too, Gaben is worried about the state of software freedom and Windows 8 and whatnot while simultaneously running the biggest privacy-infringing scheme in gaming.

But hey, who cares! Gaben is fat and doesn't shower and can't see his penis! He's so cool!

Yeah...

I only have a single problem with steam and that's the closed nature of the steam program API and is also the single biggest source of hypocrisy shown by Gaben. This make me inherently distrustful of Gaben, because he has shown that he can be a hypocritical cunt with respect to his Windows 8 outbursts; you have no right to criticise a closed system, when your yourself run one that isn't open to begin with.

I will only praise Gaben when he deserves it and he will deserve it if he enables the user to use a third party application that can interface with various storefronts, including his own. Until such time he stays a cunt and a contributor to the decline of freedom.

@Ident

Why would you want to have a digital delivery system open? What would be the purpose (besides enabling even easier piracy) and the benefit for us?
Only interfacing with the storefront and gaming library would be open. This allows you to get the cheapest prices from the cheapest store, all while using a single running application to do this. How could I not want this?

If you buy shit from Greenmangaming or Amazon, you also get almost always a Steam key provided. There is no way around Steam buddy.
So Origin, Impulse, Gamersgate, etcetera don't exist? You honestly think that a more open system would not create a more competitive environment (as new stores can fight for market share without having to sit in your taskbar) that would benefit the consumer (by always getting the best price)? How retarded are you?

Yes, because you can't really argue against what I said.

Which is:

A) There is a cult of personality around Gaben. All of this is based around marketing, where gaben is presented as a fat nerd so hardcore gamers will like him. You like to think that the guy running a billion-dollar business is looking out for you interests. The fact that this is so obvious and people fall for it is sad.

B) Everyone gives a pass on Valve over shit they would never forgive another company. Horse armour pissed everyone off, but TF2 hats are fine!

C) Steam is one of the most offending forms of DRM. With GoG, you just download the installer and do nothing else (you actually own the game!). Afaik Direct 2 Drive, Origin, Gamer's Gate or Impulse don't need to run in the background either. Steam on the other hand does, and it also collects all kinds of data about the way you play all the time (which it may or may not sell to advertisers, to boot).

The cognitive dissonance here is the really the astounding part. If EA or Ubisoft or any big publisher pulled this everyone would be going apeshit, but with Valve no one cares. Because Valve is good at marketing.
