PST and Disco catch plenty of shit around here, and Witcher 3 placed 15th on the last top RPGs list.

Guess it's a vocal minority thing.
To be fair storyfags are annoying.

If anything, it's the combatfags that hate TW3, mate.

The vocal minority you should complain about is composed of combatfags.

I agree with the combatfags though.
I just thought PS:T and Disco were better recieved and TW3 was more hated, wrongly so evidently.

Because of nostalgia bias. The Codex is like a bunch of old people yearning for the good ol' days.

TW3 is AAA Action-RPG-lite. It is inherently repulsive to Codexer :D

Ande DE and PS:T are both good games. DE wasted its potential by not being more reactive I guess,

    Suck it combat fag.

It's a useless comparison given how different the settings and gameplay are. I couldn't get into Disco Elysium at all because the setting and characters just didn't appeal to me regardless of how good the writing might be.

Witcher 3 isn't catching so much shit. Normal people are just not interested in arguing with shitposters like Falksi, who are like a broken record repeating "it's shit", so butthurt they can't stop 5 years after the game was released.

Both Witcher 3 and PST are very high in the Codex top X. Witcher 3 was RPGOTY. Disco Elysium will probably be RPGOTY as well.

I've always maintained it's a good interactive movie, not a good RPG.

In DE your stats determine the branching of conversations and success of skillchecks. It's still more RPG than Witcher 3.

When did branching conversations become the definition of RPG?

The law of the 'dex: any talk about vidya will inadvertently lead to a shift in conversation to the topic of what constitutes an RPG.

That being said, even though I've quite enjoyed DE, I find it mind-boggling how you could consider DE to be more of an RPG than TW3, AwesomeButton.

I really don't want to defend the storyfag POV, but essentially every single RPG is divided into two parts: combat and mechanics related to it on the one and roleplaying, story and C&C on the other side.
I think storyfags and RPers are retarded, but it's still a valid part of what makes an RPG an RPG.
That said I haven't even played Disco Elysium, but I assume you can RP and solve quests in various ways through dialogue choices.

Yup, I think so too. In TW3, the only affection of the whole char system progression on the game's world is Axii in dialogues. That's it. The game basically don't give a flying fuck what kind of a witcher you are outside of combat. Unlike DE, obviously.

I said *more RPG*. "RPG" as a quality of a game.
It's still orders of magnitude better than "if it has no combat it's not an RPG" which is obviously wrong.

Not if it has levels, exp and skills.
It just completely replaced combat with NPC interactions and dialogue.
I don't like it and would never play it, but it's still an RPG.

It allows for more of what is literally the "roleplay" part of "RPG". Creating a character concept and expressing it through your choices.
