What is the tone of the script? Comedic like Bloodlines or serious like everything else?

Nobody expects a full 20 minutes of radio VA, I mean it would be great, but even with just a few lines a Deb tribute character is a better idea than "some dude who's an asshole because Codex"
I'll be doing the same thing from Memoirs, where you'll have a TV/computer and you can flip through various channels. It won't be animated but it might be worth the trouble to get it voiced so you can walk around the house/room. I'll also add a music selector to it too.

Tone of Vampire Syndicate?

It's mostly serious, but there are comedic moments. It's a porn game, it can't be too serious.

Didn't you say porn aspect was just a front, so people throw money at you and you can actually just make a good rpg? +M

Nah, I'm a perv and it fills me with joy if I can cram ass and tits into something. Especially seeing how sanitized modern media is getting.

But yeah, I want to make an actual good RPG. There's no reason those two can't go hand in hand.

I had removed my AO type filters from Steam so I could actually view any of your games' pages Tyranicon. Little did I know that you were just ripping off established IP and genre classics. You fucking hack.

EDIT: These guys have a stable of classics... "Sex of Thrones", "Magic Pussy: Chapter 1"...

I guess the old pornographers saw the bottom fall out of their business as everything went online and learned to code, but not to get better names for their products. Then again, it pretty much tells you what you're going to get, so there's that.

Thanks for posting all this stuff, interesting as a non-game dev. Presume you do this part-time or don't need to work as I don't see how $100K is going to sustain you very long, even if it were 400-500K over a dev time of 3-5 years its gonna be a stretch. I guess you can and everyone would do a deal with some publisher + launch all the crowdfunding etc. etc. I suspect AO games are way more lucrative than people give them credit for, Skyrim mod Calliente CBBE ->15.7m downloads, OSEX -> 2.2m downloads, ofc major sites won't pick it up but you can social media / crowdfund and early access your way to glory for marketing.

The stuff you have showcased so far looks decent. Wondering if you're going to have trouble with the FP/ISO plan as in theory you would need to model things twice for each perspective, ISO doesn't require the level of detail that FP does, and if you do everything for the FP perspective then I'd assume your ISO performance will unnecessarily tank. I'm no game dev so grain of salt and good luck with the project.

This is my full time job, and I need it to pay my bills.

Adult games can be very profitable in certain ways (it'll actually make RPGmaker games profitable) but also harmful in others (if you're some loon who wants to make a giant RPG with porn in it, you'll lose out on mainstream coverage).

There's no real secret to how it's possible: I'm a starving artist stereotype and I try to spend money judiciously. I do most of the work myself or buy store assets so my expenses are low. I'm a decent planner and I prioritize ruthlessly.

They share the same models/assets and I can run both pretty well on my decidedly mid-line PC. I don't foresee too many problems here, but of course optimization is always an issue, and if AAA studios still can't get it right, I can hardly say it's not a concern for me.

Nothing wrong with pervs, and Vampire setting is ideal for some depraved shit.
That's all a bonus in my book. But please don't go this route in terms of tone and humor.

Anyway... that kind of shit comes to mind when you say:
It's a porn game, it can't be too serious.

Fret not, I think the successes of BG3 and Cyberpunk is bringing on a new era of mainstream perversion. IMO DA:V is the first case of this influence on mainstream games.

Also on (the now i believe deleted post): "It's a porn game it can't be that serious".

I think there's no reason for this kind of reductive reasoning. I for one would be extremely interested in a more serious vampire game where explicit sex can be portrayed in a naturalistic outcome of power.

Serious porn games exist. Those that you're a boy or a girl (or a man or a woman, age varies depending on the game) chased by rape-thirsty monsters of some sort usually take themselves seriously. Ie: that one whose name escapes me now that is not-Metroid with horny aliens.

I haven't heard about this one, but there's not-resident evil "Parasite in City"... a friend told me.

The fantasy premise you’re working with is inherently ridiculous, so you might as well have fun with it. Hammy overacting, splatter comedy, sitcom, larger than life characters, etc. It would fit the porn aesthetic to poke fun at itself.

How could I pay for this pizza? All I have is my cock!

Well, I guess I'll just have to take that then!

What are you on about?
For some reason my post was getting a lot of disagreement.

What I meant to say is that I’d like to see more quirkiness in the style of Bloodlines. Splatterpunk, situational comedy, black comedy, ironic comedy, larger than life characters like Fat Larry and Officer Chuck, the absurd politically incorrect advertisements…

Next Steps

Hi everyone,

The campaign is officially over, although we are still getting late pledges, which actually reached another stretch goal! I will be adding the PMC Stormbreakers to the game as a minor faction, and of course, Dejah Mars will be returning as well. Perhaps over time, we may even reach the Living Factions stretch goal too.

So, what’s next for the project? Currently I am waiting for Kickstarter to issue the funds (which takes about a month) and I will begin sending out rewards that are already available. This means keys of my previous games and a copy of the lore book PDF. You may notice that the date for issuing these rewards is November, but I think I’ll start a little earlier than that.

As for Vampire Syndicate itself, my immediate goal is completing and releasing a short demo for the game. I think this will probably happen sometime early next year, which will double as a technical test as well. My goal is to be able to launch in Early Access in one year from now. That is a very, very optimistic schedule, but it’s what I’m aiming for.

The Early Access process will be similar to how I handled it for my last game, Memoirs. It will launch with the introductory story content and basic mechanics, and each update will add more to the game like chapters of a book.

I’m very much looking forward to it and I hope you are too! As I’ve said elsewhere, I’m genuinely very surprised by the outpouring of support for this project. I can only imagine that means that this game is something people really want, and that further motivates me to make it.

Thanks again!
