Btw what's really pissing me off - there were a number of mini-quest items in vanilla (the ones with a white headline) that had no purpose in the game, presumably items from removed or borked mini quests. And what do you know, they're still there, a year after in a "polished and perfected" DC. Come on inXile. Where's sea when you need to hurt someone's butt.

That puzzled me too, there's no slot, you can see your rad resistence on the Character tab.
You are mistaken.

Those white label items all have a purpose, the game just doesn't hold your hand. For example, you find a can of white spray paint. You can sell my it, or you can take it to the dude cleaning up graffiti outside ranger citadel. You will then have a conversation option to give him the paint to cover the graffiti, and he will give you a skill book.

Every item I found had a use - it just took effort and brain power to figure it out.

Also, I am only talking vanilla, haven't played DC version yet.

Most of them do have purpose but there are quite a few that never had any use and still don't. "First Aid Kit", "Turquoise", "Clay Wizard" (not the trinket), "Serket Pipe" and maybe a couple more.

My bad, I didn't know you were only referring to SOME of them.

Everyone I found had a use, but it sounds like you found more than I did.

Have a question. When I ventured north to the rail nomads camp I heard a radio voice about a hammer which will soon hit Vegas. It's a short, one window broadcast. Was it in vanilla or is is new? If it is new, then I may have found a hint about an expansion/sequel. If it is old, then false alarm.
[fake edit, why not just load a save and make a screen] I had in mind this broadcast:

Pretty sure it's old.
There are a few more broadcast in RNC where I don't know who's broadcasting them. They don't seem to have any direct relation to what's going on there, except for being about an Oracle (the one in the graveyard?) predicting the conflict between Topekans and Atchisons. Maybe that other broadcast is supposed to be from the same source?

I know there are more broadcast like those. But this is about something happening in Vegas. It's one of the most likely places for any sequel/expansion as it was in Wasteland 1.

Such radio messages and radio banter are one of the best things about W2 but i dont think it has anything to do with sequel. They just show that there is a lot more to the Wasteland universe then Arizona rangers. For example there are messages in Russian and Latin alsio (if I m not mistaken).

Yeah but both apparently contain hints. I'm not sure what's the Russian one about but the Latin one gives the password to Provost's safe in the Titan Canyon. So the one about Vegas could be a hint too.

You are not. Latin is on south-west edge of the map and Russian on the west edge. Those broadcast functionally do the same thing forum posts do in Shadowrun games.

Ah, so that's where you're supposed to get the password from.
I did not get the transmissions in my previous playthrough and instead got mislead by the stupid owl medallion...

It's a convoluted puzzle, apparently intentionally so as a reference to stupidly convoluted Illuminati stories. Provost speaks Latin, Provost drops owl, there's an owl on the safe, Latin transmission contains the password. Ugh. Stupid joke reference to stupid stories imo.

Have you ever managed to recruit Gary Wolfe? Went with Militia last time, he didn't spawn. Went with Militia this time around too, again no spawn. Charisma always well over 25.

Or is he spawning somewhere secret? Can't find the dumbass. I know he's bad but I just wanted to see him for OCD reasons.

Update from sea:

From our bug tracker (our QA team reported this too):

"This is working correctly. Gary Wolf only appears if Sadler's quests were rejected ("Not Looking" keyword) or Sadler is killed after being met ("Death" keyword), and the nuke is eventually sent to the depot."

Does the game change in any way after the place with the mad monks and Diamondback Militia? I really want to like this game because it's turn-based, party-based post-apocalyptic CRPG but it's just getting too fucking boring already :negative:

LA is extremely different structurally. At least play one of those areas, if you don't like it, drop it.

Some of the late game enemies hit really hard. The God's Militia and some of the Evolved guys one hit full health characters regularly. And it's not the energy weapons this time like in the old version where you could just take off your armor.

LA locations are better mainly because they're smaller and content-denser. AZ locations are way too gigantic with a lot of slow plodding through mostly empty spaces. If that damn Fargo allowed us to speed up the game at least AZ would come across much more agreeable.

Weird. That means for Gary to appear you have to be kindda pro DBM, but not really - don't work for them or even kill their leader but then...work for them after all? Eh...

Melee ambush is kinda wonky, I put my blunts guy ambushing on the right side of the doorway and Angela ambushing on the left, but when a bug walked inside only Angela's ambush went off.

Most of the time Takayuki's ambushes don't go off at all.
Just like in vanilla WL2.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
For me so far melee ambushes have worked fine except from the fact that visually they seem to trigger a "step earlier" than expected

Oh, also worth noting I got the attack of opportunity perk on the blunts guy, and it didn't trigger either. Shrug

Just finished highpool by the way, does the game get harder?

The melee AOO's from the perks seem to operate under some random chance that's not informed anywhere. Suppose they get more frequent with the higher level perks, but I don't know.

Finished. It's a great game, it really is. Loved it first time and DC is even better. Fuck the haters. There are problems - I mean real problems, not graphix or custom portraits or stupid shit like this - but there are problems everywhere.

The only thing that's genuinelly pissing me off are the bugs, glitches and quality of life annoyances most of which are so fucking unnecessary. You simply have to download the fast skiil meter mod and fast running mod (the old one doesn't work with DC unfortunately) or you'll go mad. Was it really so difficult to put a fucking check box in the options somewhere to speed up the game? Jesus inXile, come on. Also major bugs like disappearing companions? Really? A year after vanilla? Also some quest items from presumably removed quests are still there too.

Also DC weapon rebalance effectively destroyed shotguns and energy weapons. Shotguns in vanilla were only worth developing because you could get Jackhammer early-ish on and Jackhammer wrecks faces in the mid-game. But in DC you get it very late game and by that point it's just mediocre. And energy weapons are completely useless since they seem to work only on synths this time around (at least I've never managed to figure out the whole "condcutive" armor thing for the human mobs, none of them seemed to be vulnerable to EW) and even then the AK-97 or G41 are straight up better.

But in general DC is a huge improvement over vanilla, what with the more vibrant look, perks/quirks and much improved combat encounters. Best thing about W2 is it gets better and better the further you get. With D:OS it's the other way around, it's get progressively more boring and idiotic.

Love this game and hope a sequel (or at least expansion) will be made although not holding my breath.

I think the AOOs are only supposed to trigger when guys move away from you. Seems like a huge waste to me.

Also those Perks apparently break the ability to Ambush, but that is a bug, not part of the design.
