50% damage boost at point blank range.
By my reading its 50% to base damage. Meaning if you do 2-6, your base is 2, 50% of that is 1. You now do 3-6.

Could be wrong tho.

Things are getting too easy now. :(

The Normie Adventures of Twinkie Gorilla
Part 4
Dan wasn't a happy man, but he considers it a job well done and sends Twinkie to a place called the 'Roaring Forest'.

hsrbVqS.jpg

Hearing the name alone gives bad vibes, perhaps it's best to postpone the exploration and instead proceed to Bunker 317 with Fidel.
Upon reaching Bunker 317, we failed to unlock the main door and had to ask a group of campers for help. They were kind enough to let us in.

Rt9spcc.jpg

What we found inside were corpses and more mystery. One that points towards a cult in Krasno. With no way to unlock the containers, a lot of the bunker was left unlooted. Twinkie will certainly make a return once he acquired a prybar or some other helpful tools to assist with entry.

Upon heading out of the bunker the helpful Samaritans pointed their guns towards us. But Twinkie's speechcraft is high enough to defuse the situation.

1DegB9N.jpg

That could've gone badly, but there's enough stash of combat drugs from the bunker that could help us in fighting them off if we wish to. Let's just make a mental promise to return someday with a lockpick and murder these three thieves. Following the lead, we now set forth towards Krasno. The money from Dan and assorted loot helped Twinkie in paying off the guard at half the price. And finally, Twinkie gets his first set of Leather Armor.

epDsEtw.jpg

A slew of contract work helped alleviate the stress on finances: a porn flick seeking actors (don't ask), an interview with war veterans, an aspiring smut writer, reuniting a mother with her long lost son, telling an aspiring cult leader to leave the city as well as a time traveler telling me to prevent two lovers from getting together. Oh, and barbequed chicken tastes like babies.

All this is fine and dandy, but what interests me most is an ATOM operative claiming he has access to an abandoned settlement called the Red Fighter. He claims if we can clear the mutant spiders occupying it, I get to have a share of the land for my own. Sounds like a good deal to me. Between Twinkie and Fidel, they have a hunting rifle and a rusty rifle. Plenty of 5.45mm rounds to go around. We set forth and cleaned the insects away with no problem.

nprFDyN.jpg

With the last insect killed, an old man came out of hiding from one of the houses. He was trapped inside with his 3 children, basically rabbits. He doesn't have anything useful to say, sounding like a confused old man who should be moderating a RPG forum. But I noticed he is armed with an SKS rifle. And that makes him valuable enough to kill. But before I could end the conversation, he asks if he can come along. So I said OK.

O3aOMyH.jpg

The SKS is a fine rifle. I handed over the 27 rounds off the dead tin-foil-mad-hatter to Hexagon. I look forward to firing the SKS myself.
The trio was on their way to a cave of wolves when suddenly they were beset by a crowd of shirtless people.

Jpscf4u.jpg

Ah, I forgot about the Jewish bookstore owner. Twinkie and his two companions stood side by side, guns at the ready.

7Ux50QA.jpg

There were seven of them. Six, after Hexagon killed one. 3 levels ago, Twinkie would've called this a broken encounter, but now, it's target practice. He gestured at Fidel, instructing him to fire at the nearby target.

DmnTnhj.jpg

It was a slaughter. The book burners were down to their last two when one of them landed a hard blow on Fidel's knee, dropping him hard onto the asphalt. A career path as a city guard is awaiting him in Krasno.

0f5lXP9.jpg

It's fortunate that there are three of us, Hexagon did not hesitate and finished them off.

7QA9YGF.jpg

And just like that, Twinkie tripled his kill count.

RK47, I think there is a special quest involving Fidel's ex in Krasno.

Who is this porn actor that I keep hearing about it?

Did anyone find a quest involving the voyeur in the sewer?

Klinov is easily one of my favourite characters in this game. He is fucking hilarious.

Rk47 you are playing in n normal/rifle build?

Yah, it's a normie difficulty.
The hardest part is getting actual useful thresholds in skill due to slower skill progression due to no trait and only 7 INT.
I can pump speechcraft, but there's no backup fighting skills. Can't fight at the start due to average qualities and subpar combat skill. Can't start speechcraft reliably due to low starting skill etc.
It took me till level 5 before I can start firing a rifle decently, even that it's at 52% accuracy vs arachnids.

Overall, a very slow to start build, but things will normalize now once I get Rifle to 100.

It's funny considering the reasoning behind this 'normie' build: 'I don't want to take any weakness to make myself stronger in other things' but it ended up making your character being so ineffective at mostly everything. Even Glutton would've improved survival at the start with additional HP.

Standin' pretty. In this dust that was a city.
We always abuse the pistol with 2 AP per shot.
Then make it 3 AP. It's ridiculous. Especially with -1 AP perk. And you know what would be best? The ability to mod the weapon stats.

Here is the log of the main changes:
So... No Quest XP changes? It's really underwhelming in the long run that solving quests, sometimes spanning multiple locations gives around the same measly amounts of 10-120 XP as speaking random trivia with NPCs. While for instance getting shitfaced with cloradine gives 555 and requires 5 lines of dialogue without skillchecks.

It's funny considering the reasoning behind this 'normie' build: 'I don't want to take any weakness to make myself stronger in other things' but it ended up making your character being so ineffective at mostly everything. Even Glutton would've improved survival at the start with additional HP.
Let's face it - that build is a steaming pile of shit, but I salute you for proving that even being so utterly poor speced is still a viable option, if approached correctly.

I like the word 'abuse' there. So the user calls it an 'abuse' and doesn't see it as a problem at all, it's the perk's problem.

I think it's a combined problem. The perk itself would be OK-ish, given some pistols have 5 AP shots, it's just less work to fix the damn revolver than to tweak all the guns AND change that perk to something else.

Yeah, hey we have a super op build, but problem obviously isn't in this singe weapon, while every other end game pistol fails in comparison to it. It must be perks. :deathclaw:

When daggers take more than 2 AP I consider 2AP pistol a problem.

Hell, you have a pistol tha does 11-19 and costs 6 ap, while this one does what, 6-17 and costs 2. Balanced.

Hey, but lifting an axe and smacking someone in the head takes more energy than pulling a trigger.

That pistol isn't even balanced in its natural state. It's like an idiot proof gun. You can be a rifleman and it's still a good sidearm when you have left over AP or the enemy is close enough.

No no no, you got it all wrong. You cannot use that pistol in rifle builds! You also can't use good armor in those either. They are only to be used in op pistol and melee builds.

You're absolutely right. We always abuse no armor in rifle builds to keep the game fair.

I propose we give all melee weapons a throw command 3AP because they're not allowed to use this pistol.

Here is what he wrote and I translated:

What difficulty is he playing on? He can afford to take all those shield and armor related abilities, I assume easy or normal? And why wouldn't any other build take those same abilities and be just as invincible?

As for pistols, sounds like you have a problem with one overpowered weapon. Meanwhile it takes longer to aim a Desert Eagle than it does a Dragunov, or same with -1 AP. Heh.

Is this char good for first playthrough or should I take my hexedit skills a lil bit further ?!
If you want a good combat character, DEX must be a 10. Personality is good only for a diplomat character. Also, you are spreading your SPs too thin. Focus on one skill and develop another one while you level up.

DO NOT SPEAK OF THAT NAME EVER AGAIN.

Are we at Part 5? Yes, I think we are.
This is when the normal adventure turns abnormal...
DRgHVHg.jpg

The last of the wolves fell, another job done. With this, the three mercs will now agree to meet in Krasno for a mission briefing. A third piece of a broken shield was also found inside.
If the journal of the historian is to be believed, the last piece should be in the possession of a bandit lord in the east.

bzyaUgM.jpg

The guard outside the fort beckoned Twinkie to come closer to speak, but he ain't no sucker.

7T3xzbI.jpg

The three companions side steps to the right of the gate and shot the guard down quickly.

JQy8dAC.jpg

Alarmed, the fools rushed out one by one and fell to a volley from three rifles. Such is the limit of their imagination.
And the last piece of the shield is ours, as well as the leader's metal armor. Perfect reward for Twinkie!

AAQqceO.jpg

A captive was also rescued from slavery. Twinkie debated whether to bring a slave along, but decided to do the right thing: check her for valuables first before dumping her at Krasno.
The group ran across slavers along the way.

eS7uUNc.jpg

But Twinkie's art of diplomacy was sufficient in convincing that they too are fellow slavers and are on their way to selling their slave in Krasno.

qMZn344.jpg

Eventually the journey comes to an end.

ExcX3VB.jpg

She is not the only person he made happy that day. A certain person of Jewish ancestry was also pleased to hear the book burners were slain to the last man. He offered a token sum, but Twinkie refused, asking instead for a great piece of literature to accompany his travels. The Jew obliged and hands over an ancient-looking tome.

tYSrnbJ.jpg

OaS1uox.jpg

V0XVxxi.jpg

A stone circle? Twinkie was sure he saw one at Otradnoye. Feasting on amanita. That must be the mushrooms growing around the village. This is too much to be a coincidence!
The party arrived at Otradnoye at night, and despite his companions objections, Twinkie shoved a piece of the fungi into his mouth and tried not to chew too long. It tastes...strange.

NFKcXpZ.jpg

The world slowed down, Fidel's mouth moved, but no voice came out. If Twinkie can read lips he's probably saying 'Fallout 76 sucks' but it could be something else. Like spit the mushroom out, or something like that. Well, whatever, Twinkie flipped open the book and his tongue did the rest...

oCeNXRR.jpg

Words cannot do justice for what happens next.

s6aDYNH.jpg

The Village of Otradnoye would hear multiple gunshots outside the walls that night and inhuman schreechings.

uiHLTAQ.jpg

And soon the creature stopped moving.
'Guys! What was that?!' Twinkie wanted to ask. Fidel and Hex tried to mouth a proper response, but the words came out wrong.

m91MOkc.jpg

Nothing made sense anymore.

ThpjFKq.jpg

But I do know one thing: Mushroom increases Dexterity by 1.

FjjlNfQ.jpg

Legend has it RK47 picks every mushroom he sees from then on...

Judging from all the reactions, I'd say this game at release is much more polished than Kingmaker and *Black Angel took a loooooong sigh* Insomnia :negative:
That's true but there seems to be ongoing balancing. That along with my gaming-new-years-resolution to play games only when they are fully patched/expanded and go through my backlog... gives me time

Maybe this shows your memory is not to be trusted.
If you're making a point, at least make an effort of using the real dates, so you get more credibility.

Yeah. I'm super worried about my credibility with dorks that joined the codex in 2018. Just real concerned overall about my credibility on the internet. What will I ever do. The horror.
