I'd rather my henchmen from BG1&2 be dead than suffer the Larian treatment. They'll end up suffering some perverse physical comedy spout irreverent larianesque dialogue.

At least if they're already dead you don't have to watch them have their character assassinated by a pack of homos.

It is not so much a want for BG1 and BG2 characters to return, but if Larian had to bring back some characters for nostalgia I am surprised they chose Jaheira or Minsc over some others.

Minsc is absolutely not surprising, he was by far the most beloved companion from BG 1/2. Jaheira is a weird choice tho

Jaheira doesn't feel like a weird choice for me. She's a common companion that is almost always taken by normies in BG1 & BG2 and has a habit of letting her partners die and then shacking up with someone new.
Plus she's elfish so the huge time gap is justifiable. For all the human companions they have to make up some crazy shit about why they are alive.

Well, even level 1 player characters are way stronger than average folks. Makes sense that they have some background and expertise.

I went through this phase but it was my first character and I was 14 yo at the time, didn't comprehend what 1st level meant in the general scope.
After you have a notion of scale you go from retarded mary sue epics to simple beginnings. Problem is when you know the scope of 1st level and you are above 20 yo writing this sort of crap

A lvl 1 character has already something to tell but if I remember right what I wrote for my paladin background it was something along the lines of him being a adopted kid in a family of noble orcs (don't ask me why and it was 2004, I guess due to using a greataxe), him defeating a young dragon alone and the usual diarrhea of being top of the class in Torm Church.

Why are people saying level 1 characters? They'll probably be level 5, which is what you'll be by the time you get to Baldur's Gate to recruit them, if the experience flows as fast as during EA.

which I have seen for other games as well. Edit: which to be honest is probably the superior means of providing large texture additions because you can keep your install size from ballooning up instead of producing 150 gig min install size monstrosities.
