They cancelled the best part of the scourge invasion because

The Zombie Plague ended earlier due to the consistent player complaints that saw this event as being disruptive to their gameplay.

... and you know what? Thank fucking lord for that shit.

Been leveling a character, trainers always dead, can't put shit on the AH without getting zombie aids, fun stuff, but gets annoying fast.

Enemies are tougher, getting attacked by even a few mobs at a time is a surefire way to die quickly, elites pose a significant threat to a single player.

Thats precisely what has made it fun so far.

If you are on NA roll on Bloodsail Buccaneers
EU seems to be Hydraxian Waterlords

At a minimum get these mods (Scroll down on the bottom right hand side and select the "Wow Classic" download not the Wrath of the Lich King one.
Questie
Vendor Price
Hardcore Addon

They can all (for the most part) talk in the same guild chat so it does really matter which one. Also, when someone dies its announced for all to see along with their last words in guild chat. This one seems appropriate for all the talk that goes on here

This is pure autsimo, the whole point of mmo are things that happen beyond your control, because of others actions. If it's a pvp server, you're going to stick to the less populated era. And even then, the second you put a feet in contested territory, you can be sure that some petty asshole will try to look after the level 40+ with the express intent of killing them without you having any kind of recourse.

Most people are on PVE servers just having a good time. I think its more about the current state of games that people crawl back and do thinks like this but yeah autismo is a kind of core part of MMO's at its core.

It's a question of number. For every thousands people on any serv, you're dooomed to have at least a bunch of bitter guys with way too much free time who are around just to piss people off. It's part of the experience, but I certainly won't spend a hundred hours for something that pointless that could be ruined by the first random you came across, but hey, knock yourself out.

Even non hardcore players play on

NA Bloodsail Buccaneers
EU Hydraxian Waterlords

Or you could try Turtle WoW or Warmane if you are inclined to go on a private server.

Went to the auction house in hope of scoring some bags. There were none. lol. Thinking of leveling up a guy with the purpose of making bags. This is the true fallout experience.

At least I will have the market cornered, but then again no buyers...

The only official servers that are populated with a decent amount of players are the above two. Which are also the Hardcore servers. It just so happens that HC rules state you cant use the auction house. The mod prevents that and mail usage. Hope you are having fun :salute:

Why not restart on a more populated server? Being Classic, you're eventually going to need people (and, unlike retail, you want them to be around your level) to clear important content such as elite quests and dungeons.

On top of that, I'd argue that part of the appeal of Classic is a return to a more social time in MMOs when servers weren't merged and people weren't anonymous fucks. Being stuck with people in your realm (and there being no level scaling) makes it so that you're likely to group up with certain people multiple times.

On the other hand, present Classic (WOTLK) is when things started to go downhill in terms of Classicness so maybe your goal is to avoid people and I can't blame you for that.

Yeah, the thing is I stared on Hydraxian. But I come to realize there is absolutely zero interaction with the HC players since they have rules for playing with casual scum like me. Then I picked the other RP server...

I'm having fun, I'm treating it as a singleplayer experience where all people died and only automatons remain, and I have to discover why :)

I'm probably not gonna play that much, treating it more like a casual experience. So, it does not matter much. And surprisingly my level 20 hunter has taken a fair bit of time to level, so going through that once more is a big no-no. I mostly find it interesting, wandering around this dead world, but the bag issue I didn't think about. How do you even get bags, if not by other players? You can buy the really bad ones, but that is only 8 slots.

It's not hard to level Tailoring on an alt but it is time and resource intensive, and not really worth it unless you've saved up cloth from a previous character.

If you're not crafting them yourself and you're not getting them from other players, the only alternative is to get them from certain quests (but you'd have to Google that) or loot them from mobs. Traveler's Backpack (16 slot) is not an uncommon drop in endgame dungeons starting with BRD, but I doubt you'll make it that far.

IMO TBC already killed server communities. Got rid of same server battlegrounds, and the way the world was structured just didn't encourage cross-faction collisions as much. I remember being VERY community oriented in vanilla and then it fell off a cliff with TBC.

Felt the same way. The hubs got split too much at first, so people ended up abandoning a lot of their usual haunts, and then, IIRC, they finally added global chats, and that was that, everyone was sitting in a different capital city and just shitposting there.

In a way I felt WotLK actually brought community back together a bit, as getting to Dalaran and from Dalaran, to old capitals etc via portals made it more convenient to hang out again.

been playing on warmane casually for the past couple years (wotlk private server), I enjoyed gearing up my paladin and shaman to 5.5k GS doing random heroics, but raiding is another beast entirely, as you can do a raid only once per week, and it drops very little loot, you can see how the whole system is designed to squeeze out subscription money.

I still enjoy fishing in the game while listening to an audiobook, or doing a random heroic or battleground every now and then, or pugging a raid. Still I will forever be a low geared scrub because I don't care nor like raiding or arena.

game has the same problem as vanilla wow: server progression is just way too fast paced. it's like either you spend all your free time playing WoW and only WoW or suddenly TBC is releasing and you haven't even hit max level and nobody's doing vanilla stuff anymore
even worse in this version with the accelerated release schedule

game designed like an abusive gf

It wouldn't have made any financial sense, but from a gameplay perspective, the first expansions should have only fleshed out the existing continents. They could've finalized all the half-baked and outright cut content, but I guess they wanted a strictly gate the access to new zones so people would buy the expansions. Outlands was also way too linearly laid out and flying mounts are a bad idea.
