Some cool cinematics, though. Keanu was a surprise.

Noticed a few things during my second playthrough you didn't get the first time.
Like that Judy is already with Evelyn when you're looking for Evelyn at Lizzie's.

gamers are gonna be licking cdpr's taint in a year's time when they add back in the features cut rushing to release in time for the biggest holiday season for video games ever as "free dlc"

First we praised Fallout 4, now Dragon Age: Inquisition looks more advanced and actual role-playing game in front of Cyberpunk 2077. So what's going on inside CDPR?
Same thing that happened to every other developer that became too popular for its own good. Gotta appeal to more and more people which means stripping the games of any modicum of depth, not that their games were ever deep to begin with but now they're just generic action games. Story as old as the gaming industry.
This isn't a new development caused by popularity but rather an intentional strategy followed after the release of their first game.

The Witcher was a promising first RPG from a new developer that made attempts at creating interesting real-time combat, a character progression system, C&C, and exploration, even though it had limited success in each aspect.

The Witcher II was an attempt at emulating Bioware with the Witcher IP.

The Witcher III was an attempt at emulating Bethesda Softworks with the Witcher IP.

Cyberpunk 2077 was an attempt at emulating Grand Theft Auto with the IP of a semi-obscure tabletop RPG that had a useful name.

CDPR hasn't even been trying to create a good RPG after the release of the original Witcher in 2007; they've only been chasing the best-selling trends in gaming, and with each step they've ascended to a higher level of commercial success.

More bitching, this time about the loot system. Seriously, this abomination needs to be taken to a ditch and shot in the head. Twice. How the fuck did they not learn anything from their previous game? Maybe we will get Cyberpunk EE in a couple of years that will delevel the whole game and completely rework the loot, like we did for W3.

The art direction, sound design, and world building are really next-gen shit. Anyone who says the city feels "dead" because you can't go bowling or whatever needs to have their head checked.

I don't think many here are denying that the city is an impressive visual/audio achievement in terms of art design and graphics, and that just visually and aurally it's incredibly immersive. By a country mile, it's the best thing of its kind in any videogame yet. For me, the paradigmatic Night City experience is cruising through the streets on a rainy night, listening to Miles Davis on the radio. That experience, as an immersive experience, is almost worth the $60 just by itself. One's mind just automatically fills in a feeling of incredible coolness from those cues - that one is a merc making their way in this awful but beautiful place.

The problem is just that it's not very reactive the closer you get to interacting with it, which breaks the illusion so nicely set up by the visuals. It's like an LSD illusion breaking up as soon as one moves closer to investigate it. And that's mainly to do with the AI, which is everywhere laughably rudimentary, and only marginally better in combat.

I can't help but think it's the sort of stuff that will eventually be improved with patching though, and a lot of other problems eventually sorted out by modders, to taste. What may never be truly finished is depth and complexity to quests, which is sad, because there's enough evidence to show that the plan was for something much richer at one time.

From mid 2018 to date, CDPR bought an immersive cinematic experience (in the MQ and major SQ cinematics) at the cost of the RPG they'd been developing up to that point, and had promised in numerous trailers and hype vids. If they can claw back some of that RPG in the next year, then it'll all be copacetic; if not, then it'll be forever remembered as a sadly missed opportunity.

The aesthetics of Night City are GREAT and it can carry the game for a distance. But this game has the classic, "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" open world game problem, and I think as soon as that begins to show through the whole structure begins to crack and fall apart.
I killed some thugs that had been harrasing a guy in an alley. He thanked me. I turned around. A moment later I turned too look at this guy and now he was a woman (I guess it's some instant gender transition implant).

I'll give CDPR one year from release (when it should have probably been released) to address as many of my concerns as possible. It's apparent this thing was rushed. It'll be interesting to see what sort of changes come to the entire game when the "next-gen" release happens for console.

Jesus, the AI for NPCs is so fucking bad. You can walk through a crowd with a gun in hand and nobody bats an eye, but try to park your bike on the sidewalk (so that it does not cause a gridlock because the AI drivers can't deal with going around it) and everyone loses their minds.

I've had it on 40% right before the finale. They made the glitches more severe as the time went on, even in (after) side quests. Interesting how V never seemed to droop blood at inopportune moments.

To be honest, the game succeeded at making the whole situation seem like a fucking curse, unlike MOTB. Despite the fake urgency and coughing blood for no reason.
That meter is how much Johnny "likes you" and (supposedly) affects the availability of the secret ending as well. I am not sure if it does, I don't actually think you need a certain percentage as long as you choose the right dialogue options at his grave. However if you have it high enough, you might not need to choose the right options and still get the secret ending option - not sure. It progresses through the main story depending on some of your choices so you can end the game at around 40-60 percent, and you can boost it by doing Johnny's side quests.

It affects quite a bit of dialogue with him, for example if you have it quite high, then after the reunion concert he regrets organizing it. V asks him something like "why, I thought you cared about Kerry's happiness" and Johnny says "yeah, but not as much as I care about your life" or something along those lines. If it's low, he doesn't add that line.

Mostly just flavor text like that AFAIK.

Is there any Npc reaction if you just walk around naked?

It's an RPG - of course no!
I think we can expect a plethora of "X killed Cyberpunk" movies created by armchair developers.

This sweet sweet youtube-ad money.

Meanwhile I'm in the middle of the 3rd playthrough of this DEAD GAEM and still having tons of fun.

This explained by complexity of the GAEM.
When you have some 2D simplistic platformer, like Black Thorne for example, you only have few aspects to manage - graffix, some one dimenional shooting and simplistic levels.
When you fail in one of these, it's a has immediate impact on the game quality.
With CP2077 that have much more aspects - city, art for game is quite numerious - clothes, advertising, weapon, cars, city's districts, dialogues, VO, roleplay system, action.
Suh games could fail in half a things they do, and still be joyable for many.
Complex games have safety pillow.

After around 15 hours played
And now at 23 hours it's growing on me a decent bit. Still has a lot of complaints and weaknesses and I'd still say it isn't as in-depth as the modern Deus Ex pair or Arkane's offerings (Though a lot of that comes down to level design), but there's some quite good reactivity from NPCs in the main quests. (Edit: Forgot to clarify, not as in-depth as those games mechanically and most especially level design. NPC reaction-wise Cyberpunk's probably one of the better games, though still can't hold a candle to Disco of course) Functionally I haven't seen any C&C that has led to changed/altered quests, but I have been hitting quite a lot of C&C that changes dialog/NPC reactions, etc. My favorite C&C is when it's weighty, but extensive-fluff C&C is quite enjoyable. Especially when it seems so well voice acted and animated. I do wish the stat checks felt like they were more important, most of the time it just leads to a a comment but on rare occasions it feels a little more dramatic (Like the boss at Clouds, left friendly with him by fixing his network problems for information). It's possible there has been some gameplay impact from my actions but it's more "Behind the scenes". Like how I mentioned before, ignoring a timed response/action in dialog is a valid option that leads to legitimate and distinct outcomes (In at least one or two cases thus far) so it's possible that some mechanical gameplay C&C has come up and I haven't realized it since the game isn't drawing attention to it, either with quest arrow popups or a character showing up and saying WELL SINCE YOU DIDN'T KILL ME I'M HERE TO TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM or some crap. I doubt it, but given the game I wouldn't completely write off the possibility.

Either it just took a while for me to warm up the contrarian-drive and embrace Cyberpunk, or since I went into it with lower expectations (Hoping it compared to other recent immersive sims, not expecting much of an RPG) my disappointment time was shorter and then I could start enjoying the game as it is. I do think it's aided by swapping stories with my buddy since we're playing nearly polar opposite characters/reactions and I can hear how characters are behaving, since the game isn't drawing much attention to that if I was looking at it from my route alone. Alls I know is FUCK OFF TAKEMURA I'M BUSY RIGHT NOW STOP TEXTING ME

dunno if anyone posted this, watching it now

Continuous Delivery is nigh impossible though for the games industry due to how we ship. He doesn't understand how much anxiety CDPR as a company probably had in delaying the releases they would no doubt have been under pressure by shareholders and platform owners alike to make the ship date. Its easy to say in hindsight not to do a multi platform release but CDPR had no choice because their partners wanted them as a launch title and paid for it. CDPRs thinking is probably that of anything that ended up badly we can just patch and pull and No Man's Sky what's the worse that can happen. To which I say "you get bought out by Microsoft" right Todd ;).

One thing of note - the game begins in the areas with the least interesting gigs - Kabuki and Northside. In the southern part of the city there seem to be more interesting gigs, with more character.

For the third qualifying race, I decided to just try and drive slowly and see what happens. Turned out it was a very relaxing drive to the finish, and that relaxation must have spread to the competitors, as nobody tried to overtake Claire and V (that seems to only happen if you get off the track). Who would have guessed....

The local NPC's made the usual sane impression.

No idea...

I finished the last race, too. Well, not the race, but the story arc. Got a couple more cars I won't drive. I liked the overall story though.

I finished the quest in two of the three possible ways, and Claire ended up unhappy in both instances. Pity, I was up for watching some cringe tranny on woman sex animations.

It makes sense that there is no real happy end available. An obsession like that doesn't just dissolve, because the actual issue, the loss of her husband, is not solvable. I guess she comes to terms with her situation though.

Regarding sex animations, yes, that would probably have been a hilarious 30 seconds, like the others.

I'm just listening to some music from the game and realized a few things. Simple statements:

I get hyped from listening to the music. I get hyped from watching the artwork. I get de-hyped from playing. Doesn't speak well for the game.

When I fire up Witcher 3 I'm itching for the story and dialogue moments. When I fire it up with the Enhanced Edition mod, I'm also itching for some combat where "the stakes are real". When I get a feeling I want to play Cyberpunk 2077, I associate it with the pleasure of popping heads with the pistol. Again, doesn't speak well for the game.

Re-reading the above I just thought "I'm so far in that I might as well finish it". This sure doesn't speak well for Cyberpunk... :D

Finally gave some spin to exploration aspect of game, just walking on legs instead of driving everywhere. This is prologue before talking to Dex. Things i noticed:

- Game is jam packed with unmapped stuff. From mods/implants to find in different places behind small environmental stories, gang wars etc to small unmapped quests/encounters/events, like group of kids looking at some coprse and running away when you get near or kids playing listening to radio tunes in some back alley.
- Gonks are everywhere to destroy and usually have some thematic purpose, like Tiger Claws beating some whores trying to cut gang out of money.
- Plenty of weapons to obtain that only starts to drop much later in game. For example i got now nice power shotgun from one of those unmapped quest also Liberty pistol.
- The street cred req for some job is soft req. If you find job you can actually do it.
- In Kabuki i found new bar/BDclub Ho-Oh which is connected to one of gigs which is not on a map as "bar", so that is 3 in Kabuki alone and i am pretty sure there is more as i only scratched Kabuki.
- Noticed that there is actually faction system in game and gangs can fight each other. I am not talking about those scripted scenes where you go somewhere to ongoing street fight. I attacked Tiger Claws in one place and suddenly from other side of the street group of Mealstrom started to attack Tiger Claws as they first heard something and started to check out what was happening and later someone git hit by stray buller, shit hit the fan and later on more Mealstrom gonks arrived as well as 3-4 more Tiger Claws. Mealtrom won and they went back to their posts.
- I knew game is packed with unique locations/interiors etc. from my previous playtrough but now that i explore this is understatement. There is absolutely shitload detail in every street and backalley. Even backalleys feel completely unique. This backalley is empty parking space that seen some shit, this one is shanty town by homless, this one is garbage filled to brim etc.
- Each bar/weapon shop/pharmacy/ripperdoc/clothes shop is different. No copy paste. And owner usually has some lines outside of buying stuff. Moreover each shop is different in both how it looks and what they have in store.
- You can actually buy recipes for clothes from shops as well as recipes for other stuff. You can also find some in wild and as loot but very rarely, most of recipes i saw were from shops.
- It is super easy to remember where you are and find your way in NC. Playing without minimap is great and after a while you mentally know where things are. If some quest gives says Jig-Jig street i know how to find it now. I have no issue finding Misty shop. This is imho real achievement for city-openworld of this size. IT is only prologue still so only Kabuki feels a lot to me like VTMB hubs.
- There are random quests/events. I noticed robbery going on and i got killed i reloaded save from before and arrived at the same place and there was no robbery anymore.
