They provide 1800xp per head.I just fireballed them when I had around 6k exp left for a levelup. They do sometimes spawn tormented souls andthe like sometimes in the barter menu... best time to kill them.

Welp, more things have just went on my to-kill list.
It's okay tho, there's not a single good Codexer among them!

I managed to get to Silverglen area, I am level 12, but every dungeon quest and mobs seem to be level 15+. Is there a lower level area in Silverglen where I can get some levels?

I'm very impressed with this game's staying power on steam, it's back to No 1. again. This bodes well for the future hopefully this will mark a new era of incline, perhaps this will serve as the impetus that get's the ball rolling on the spiritual successor to Temple of Elemental Evil.

the success of this game, makes me hate Bitcomposer that much more, douchebags

There's lots of mobs that are level 11-13. The ones spread out over the overland map, for instance. Don't go to the sandstormy area up North. Bring down the witch barrier and there's a big area there with enemies your level as well. If you're stuck on the barrier, spoilerish hints:

There's an area in the overland map near the centre with lots of traps. Why would there be lots of traps? Alternatively, the talking mushrooms near the barrier offer a pretty.. brute force solution.

Are we sure some of these areas don't have scaled mobs? I am seeing people describe certain encounters having mobs at different level than I experienced.

I seem to remember same levels across my 3 playthroughs, but I suppose I may not notice 1-2 level variations.

Yeah, with no big game releases in August unless Risen 3 is a surprise hit, it's going to be smooth sailing for Larian. September doesn't have big releases either till mid September with that new Narutotard game coming out on Steam and Wasteland 2. Oct is when it will be pack as fuck with big releases. Either way it's going to be quite awhile till D:OS falls below the top ten in sales.

Swen's next blog post will be interesting, hopefully discussing how the game has done and their future plans. They're always a good read but I can't wait for this one.

You had me excited for a second that it was already out Zorba. I'm very curious to see how it did.

Every time someone describes an area or encounter, what they describe has always had the same level as in my playthrough.

i finished the game a week ago. i must say that i loved every bit of it. the only thing that i didn´t like was that rock, paper, scissors mini-game. i think i´m going to start tinkering with the editor to make some modules :)

Hmm. I know I have definitely been taking things "out of order" so I wonder. Did you go out of level at all or have you stuck mostly to fighting at your level +/- 1?

At level 10, I went after the spiders. They were at level 14. I do not recommend that, because I steamrolled everything in Hibernheim because of the levels I had gained. I would recommend that you pursue the White Witch questline. Although fighting the spiders was great because how challenging it was. (I admit that I lured and teleported only a few of them at a time.

I did Loric @ level 10 (he was 13) and The spiders at 11 (they were 14). Anyone have different levels for Loric or spiders?

The levels are set, I assure you. I've been reading and posting about the game on some forums and all have met them at the same levels.

OK cool, for some reason I thought it might be otherwise.

It's a good sign, though one that will be lost upon professional reviewers and industry standards that focus almost exclusively on first two weeks plus presales. MCA and Tim Cain (in his Troika days) have talked in the past about how certain types of games, including great crpgs, are long-sellers (all of Troika's games fit this category, as did PS:T, BG2, FO - and, recently, FO:NV), and so their true commercial value gets massively overlooked by the industry.

You know, it just occurred to me: what does this say about the industry that they completely discount the possibility that their OMG-BRILLIANT AAA games will increase their audience through positive word of mouth? That they base their entire business model on the sales that take place before word of mouth gets out, with a large chunk of that coming before the game is even released?

I know that film does the same, but at least then most of the major studios will also release 'prestige' films each year that aren't expected to sell anything until the awards season 6-8 months later. And plenty of film-makers (Tarantino, Kubrick, Hitchcock) have been released from the studio's usual budgetary process in the hope that people might be viewing/buying them as collector's items (or, these days, box sets) in a few decades time. If game publishers truly believe that today's games are of the quality that they think, where are the prestige games? It's not like hardware or graphics will improve significantly over the course of 12 months. Where are the games that they expect future generations to look back on? Even if they think technical improvements will make modern aesthetics obsolete, where are their hopes for a 'Nosferatu' or a 'Metropolis'?

Hunter's Edge spoilers

Are those fucking mountain idiots that I was helping supposed to turn on you during the war in Hunter's Edge? First time they did it, I thought I had done something wrong but no, they randomly turn on my party every single fucking time. I was following the surviving mountain warriors to help them clear the city of orcs after the main battle was over, but halfway through it they just start attacking my party.

They're not meant to, and in my experience they even forgave several friendly fire hits from me. I assume they work along the same Attitudes system as normally, so if your relations with them weren't very high and then they stepped in your puddle of fire or something they might get mad.

But hey, I wished they'd attack me. Good fun.

I had them turn on me once when the big fight started. Seems to be a bug, since it only happened one time out of four or so (I reloaded a couple of times to check out different stuff).
