Well

I find myself clicking FAST through dialogue.. It's just.. not. engaging me. What you want? Kill some stuff? ok i go kill stuff, have reward? Great, gimme. Oh, another guy to kill? Some bitch in a murder plot? yeh, whatever.. gimme xp, gimme stuff

Combat is fun, whack whack. Repeat.

Combat animation speed.. is.. soooooo.. fucking. sloww! Seriously, this is very jarring. Especially if u reload some fights. Come on, Swen. Implement a god damn speed slider.. every other cRPG has it.. why not your precious game?

Inventory management is pretty much still a big hassle. I get fucking arthritis in my hand having to click 1 billion times on all the little shit items and transfer them around etc. There is not even a "repair all" button at the blacksmith.. ;(

I thought the UI and quality-of-life improvements would have been better for such a AAA product.

Overall, yah, its still fun enough, combat that is. And skills n shit.

Hitboxes on enemies are also still fucking shit. Still missclicking 9 million times, walking instead of attacking. Fun.

Depends on what's boring to you. For me it was combat after leaving Cyseal because the difficulty takes a nosedive. It remains to be seen if Larian succesfully addressed this.

But so far, Tactician mode walks a fine line between frustration and challenge, although this will depend greatly on your starting characters. Two Lone Wolves will have it easy because of 70% increased vitality and regular characters will have a better time after getting two companions in Cyseal. But to survive the way up to the City I had to use crowd control constantly with my Inquisitor and Rogue, or otherwise the number of foes would overwhelm me.

At least in the early game, summons still seem to be very powerful in tactician mode. Even if they don't do too much damage, they serve as meatshields that also group up enemies for AOE destruction...

Was the AI updated? I remember a lot of time the AI would just go after my summons in the vanilla game, even if they couldn't actually hurt them (ice elementals vs. a summoned ice elemental, poisoning enemies vs a spider, etc)

Spider is useful for weakness and being a meat shield. The enemies early game are so overwhelmingly undead who are immune to poison, so so much for that. Like Intinium mentioned, the writing is still very much miss and if that's what we are getting in D:OS2 we are fucked. The story is bananas from the first Star Stone onward. Not having a heal spell on the beach is frustrating. Dual wielding rogue is pretty fun. Witch is weird in the beginning, but it has its uses. Inventory is still hell to manage.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I find the game excellent and even if though I fully completed it in the "vanilla" version, I'm very excited to go through it again. Tactician is challenging unless you "game" it completely and requires you to use everything you have to win battles.
I am playing with a controller as I'm playing co-op with the misses and our second available computer doesn't have a gfx card that supports DX11 which is required.
Gameplay with gamepads is surprisingly fun though. The split screen works nicely!

2 controllers, you rich or something? Just kidding. Do you know if you can you use two screens in split-screen mode?

Haha we just have a PS3 and I'm using these in the PC :)
You mean split screen with 2 monitors in the same PC? That's actually an interesting question, but I don't know the answer :(

I wonder if Dual Wielding is properly OP - in most games that's 2xstats/skills/other boosts from magical weapons. Hard to compete with that with other melee builds.

Look just imagine making a puddle off rain. And firing dual Air wand triggering chain stun off a 4 AP spammable attack. That's what it is. I can deal with dual wield melee because there's still miss, damage penalty and the risk you put in going front and dealing lower damage than two hander and less defense than a shieldfighter - but dual wand is cheese with special elemental effects from 15 m away. I threw a poison flask and blew it up with fire wand last night. The combination is pretty disgusting if you add spell casting in the mix, which is pretty much making Wand the preferred Wizard of choice now.

Wow, that is enough reason for me to not play this again. This made me mad so many times, more that before each attack I had to target so carefully and slowly, made all combat drag and drag because of it.

Even Obsidian learned their lessons and are implementing immunities and Stronghold improvements and Larian could not fix the biggest problem of their game...

I imagine you wouldn't have the problem with misclicking if you were to play with a controller. :smug:

Wow I was really enjoying the new features and tactitian mode (BTW ALL FREE). Allready sinked 6hours into It and come here to what rpg codex thinks of It. Well...most of the people looks bored to death. I mean all rpg in the end is the same: there is a plot, monsters, quests, loots, character customization...
Is everyone here bitter old men? I mean I'm not that young my self but everyone looks like a god-damn picky grandpa. No offence!

Well that's actually true since you can cycle through enemies... Maybe there's a button in the kb&m controls that allows you to do that too?

I tried D:OS EE last night. Constant yelling in combat is annoying, but rest is fine. Voice acting is what I was expecting, over the top like you would expect in Larian games.

I am really enjoying the EE so far.

  • Itemization feels much better
    • But is still an RNG loot fest.. fuck off with that shit Larian
  • Chaacter progression feels great / interesting
  • Graphics and Models and Special effects are greatly improved
  • Voice Over work is pretty standard fare, better then a lot of games
    • Nothing close to the horrible shit quality voice overs in Wasteland 2 DC...
  • No bugs experienced so far, no crashes or issues with full screen..
    • Again, can't say the same for wasteland 2..
  • Performance is great with everything jacked up
    • Can't say the same for wasteland 2........

They also re-factored the plot a bit so it makes sense. I felt the intro cut scene was a bit ham fisted.. but it was nice that they re-factored encounters with certain NPC's to tie into the plot more. Seeing as I have already played the crap out of this game, I do find myself occasionally reading ahead of the voice over and just skipping to the next node, or just skipping conversation altogether.

Sometimes I forget what an NPC has said and let them prattle on until I jog my memory but for the most part I know the drill and can't be assed to listen through it again.

They still let you grind on the townspeople by using NPC companions to force attack. Doing so will avoid reputation loss.
Also, kill all rats for 90 EXP and potential raw meat and hair. Those are pretty useful crafting stuffies.

:shredder: Can't let any EXP go unclaimed. Remember to check the bodies for loot.

Places like the codex are an important mechanism to keep us afloat. It's great to vent all your build-up autism and sociopathic tendencies.
