By the way, the GOG version of the game got the Source Hunter DLC added today.
And a soundtrack and stuff. Also, I'm actually able to download the game now which was not the case a couple of hours ago.
But it is still the original, unpatched version. Downloaded just now. Goddammit.

Edit. SCRATCH THAT! They just added a separate patcher to GOG in this moment! YYYEEEEAAAHHH!

Edit: FUUUUCKCK! The patcher is not working, it says one file is not correct. Great.

Well, it patched, but with errors:

Divinity - Original Sin patch log
Update from version 2.0.0.2 to 2.1.0.3

Incorrect version of: E:\Programme2\Divinity - Original Sin\goggame-1207664853.info
Incorrect version of: E:\Programme2\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\network.txt
Incorrect version of: E:\Programme2\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\goggame-1207664853.dll
Incorrect version of: E:\Programme2\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\EoCApp.exe
Incorrect version of: E:\Programme2\Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Localization\English\english.xml
Incorrect version of: E:\Programme2\Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Localization\English\Gender\Female\english.xml

However, the game claims to be version 1.0.47 now.

Well I reinstalled the base game, applied that patch, and only after that I installed the DLC.
This way I still got an error, but "only" this:

Divinity - Original Sin patch log
Update from version 2.0.0.2 to 2.1.0.3

Incorrect version of: G:\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\network.txt

And after that the game is 1.047 version according to the main menu. I hope the patch applied correctly and only some small thing went wrong.

Also it is funny that there are steam_api files in the game directory. GOG version...riiiight.

Despite all my errors, it also says version 1.0.47 in my game. Of course, that's just a line of text. The difference in number of errors may come from the fact that my game download is from Tuesday. Perhaps, they already exchanged the file in the meanwhile. Unfortunately, their numbering scheme is a bit opaque.

Crooked Bee Yeah the combat is insanely fun. Blackguards has great combat too and it is more polished right now, but here you can more options right from the get go. I only wish we could generate a full party of even 4 pcs, instead of 6 right from the get go. I just don't understand why they did not do this, when the engine and game can easily handle it. I think it is because they were obsessed with the duo co op play.

Anyhow I am running into a problem. I cannot find the whirlwind attack Man At Arms skill book. Aerus doesn't have it in stock. I knew I should have chosen that at startup, but instead went with Melee Power Stance for roleplay reasons. :( Is there anyway to get that skill book in Cyreal? When do vendors/Aerus restock?

And due to the whack nature of this game's economy, is there anyone not resorting to stealing to make money? It's painful as I don't want to larp a thief, but I have no choice. :(

D:OS has much, much better feedback IMO. showing when AoO is a factor, showing greater status and positioning feedback, better pop=up combat feedback, better log window details. D:OS got this right.

So who's going to let's play this for the glory of Codexia? I'd volunteer, but we all know a LP by me has an 85% chance of being abandoned on page 3. :P

Whoever said that shadowrun was "good enough" can go ahead and eat a dick.

That's how you make a proper game, I'm 10 hours in and don't even want to stop.
Even though
Braccus
wrecked me a couple of times. I'm yet to have a single CTD and game runs just fine, regardless of how long I'm playing it.

The only annoying thing so far, is your characters going face first through any modified 'ground' in combat (including lava), but they'll flat out refuse to do that in 'out-of-combat' mode and you have to drag them step by step through poison clouds and shit. Other than that, this game is golden and with mods it's going to get even better.

:yeah:

So is lock-picking useful at all? So far all the chests have had keys for them.

Are you still in the tutorial dungeon, or the first city? Those are mostly "beginners" areas.

Just started running around the country side. I take it there are chests without keys then? Didn't they say in the starter dungeon that all doors would have keys?

Man, this time I dropped the ball on my party composition. Not much luck with loot either. During the Beta I usually found some decent weapons and spells much sooner.
I've some real trouble with fights around Cyseal, this time. Doesn't help that I picked up a mercenary rather late and she's low level now.

Yes, my Jahan has Summon Ice Elemental too- but i thought the numbers of summon were limited to 2, regardless of who summoned them. So if Jahan and my Pyromancer summon elementals, my geomancer cannot summon a spider without cancelling one of their summons.

Was i wrong?
You can control more than 2 summons fine.

Blind is a true friend in fights like this. My witch CC's one of his minions for whole fight.

Btw folks, I didn't get it at first, but when your tele button flashes green it means you should visit EoT again, new rooms will open. One thing you can do there at some point is to choose new merchants for yourself to spawn. They carry spells up to highest levels possible.

Been enjoying the game. Restarted... what, I don't know three or four times?

Finally settled on Rogue and Wayfarer as my starting pair. Exploring the first city and still having a blast. Pet Pay is super fun and I really enjoy Jake's dog helping me out with the murder investigation.

When you bring him Esmeralda's panties to sniff to find the murder, his response about smelling every man in the town on those panties EXCEPT Jake was hysterical and also gross. I am still wearing those panties though... +1 Charisma man. Still don't know who the murder is - mainly because I haven't found clothing items from the other three suspects yet.

Killed the Skeleton Scorcher below the General Store without too much trouble, just kept him knocked down. He exploded and set my rogue on fire when he died, which was interesting - but nothing a rain cast couldn't solve.

Loving it. It has a lot of good vibes from older RPGs in it.

I don't agree with the premises that RPG's should be text heavy (unless it's that kind of RPG), and the example you brought up I find to be pretty odd. Dark Souls has very little text/dialog compared to D:OS. NPC's more often than not say little more than a blurb, there's probably like 1/100th of dialog.
The text heavy part is on item description. Otherwise, there isn't that much dialogue, which is fine considering the main character is undead that escaped from undead asylum is on rampage and is winning.

But of course it would be funny to hear 5 minute long monologue from a policeman about how they should take him back to an asylum to stop being threat to the society, responded by spear from main character piercing his brain, followed by words: who's next?
RPGs SHOULD be text heavy.
(even dark souls is text heavy)
Your face SHOULD be heavy with my fists
And yours should be wet with woman piss.

It even rhymes. I won, one hit KO. (thought in real fight I can't both do sword fighting and talking)
kinda wonder how many posters get the reference, I should be probably less obvious

I assume you are not an avid reader. But I like these parts where you need to investigate and all people are lying to you some because they are trying to get rid of people they dislike and framing them for murder is great way, some because they don't want to cooperate, and some because they are genuinely mistaken. Only hard clues and rats don't lie.

It's great when you could screw the whole story by failing to find facts, and it's even better when being completely correct would made the game massively harder. Aka you played really well and prove the real fact, you'd find the consequences of your actions are hell...
Strangely nobody is daring to make game like that, even when it's easy to do that and it rises the difficulty quite a bit thus making it rewarding to both skilled (who are likely to get the best result) and nonskilled players (who when gets the best result and want to continue with correct story they would need to "git gut").
