We all should have realized fantasy was a dead genre when Kingdom Come got the blowback it did from every major outlet. All for just giving a slightly accurate depiction of the sexes at the time.

As to this game, I don't really see the point. The series has been stagnant for a decade, following the Jeff Vogel formula of rereleasing the same game with small updates.

There's no reason to upgrade from Dominions 3, let alone Dominions 5.

I'd value dom3 (first one for me) at around 300$ when compared to other full price games, don't mind paying it off in spread out instalments :smug:
Also you can say whatever you want, the game has been steadily evolving. Yes, it's still the same at its core, that's why it's called Dominions 6 and not Dominions: Let's Fuck Up A Winning Team™.

The only real problem is that there is no AI diplomacy.
Nothing fancy would be needed, just some basic alliance/ceasefire/etc. options as well as trading and you'd be good to go.
As it is right now, all SP games are FFA, which is a shame.
Well, confirmed on the Steam forums that there actually will be NAPs (non aggression pacts) with the AI. So it will at least be a bit less random with bots.

Maybe by Dominions 20 we will get a rally point feature for recruited troops. :M

I wonder whether the re-balance toward lower-tier units is going to make games run faster (because early units stay viable longer and transitions from early to mid to late game should be smoother), or actually longer (because it will take more time to field efficient magic-enhanced armies and players may want to play defensively to protect their magical assets). Good thing is that with the revamp of cavalry, moral and trampling, elephants charge may become a useful tactic.

In for the inevitable Codex Dom6 game.
Sign me in and suffer (from laughing to much after I finish year 1 with three provinces, no fort and a dead pretender).

From Dom3 onwards there has been a clear attempt to make conventional armies viable. I'm ambivalent on it, because the bread and butter of the system is in the end the magic/equipment/ritual stuff. We have come a long way from the era of SuperCombatant dominance, too many counters, but I still feel the Dom5 meta (at least when I was still playing) did reward a tad too much the Doombless setups (Mictlan, I'm looking at you).

No complaints from me though, conventional fighting with more limited magic and the need for proper logistics sound more fun than "enjoy, your opponent has researched Rain of Stones, it's GG".

In for the inevitable Codex Dom6 game.

We did lose the vast majority of the old players, but c'mon, new blank slate. I barely remember expansion strategies! Also the forum kultur for Dominions seems to be dead, it's all on damnable Discords nowadays. Good way to lose old content.

I never really play Dom PvP but I'd like to join if Codex host one

Probably gonna be crub stomped as I play Dom single player as logistic simulator instead of "race to get the most OP artifact/bless" and make a Super Thug but it is what it is

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Up for a Codex game too. Seems like the changes are going to benefit my beloved EA Marv, so see you from behind of a quadrillion of exploding pigs.

I mean, Mictlan's entire MO has always been suicide dom + hellbless.

Mictlan is perfectly playable with small bless but everything good you get is sacred so may as well take a big bless.

I did enjoy my tribless games, havent tried quad tho, bit too meme for me...

Wait, a Basque-inspired nation?

That's actually pretty cool. Their regional language is pretty unique and some of their folklore can be used for fun units.

Not sure if I'll be able to take seriously the inevitable pretender named Patxi the Lich, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Ah, MA Metal Vikings? Neat. Northern nations needed some love.

I guess we'll need to organize the Codex game some way or the other. What's the preferred way to play nowadays? I'm so old I used Llamaserver (but also played some games in some newfangled Discord thing back when I tried to Lucid's community, pox on all Discords and may the Pantokrator smite the platform) so I'm completely out of the loop about hosting.

Also we'll need a name....

3 days to go. Now the question is if we would see a crack for offline play or not.

Dom games always has this weird keygen based DRM that changed between patches

It usually means that no crack is permanent

When I was broke student I tried to find crack for Dom4 but even those wasn't the latest version

From what I saw on forms developers were mainly interested in people who were playing MP game, so when developers made important patch people were moaning on forums until Voksi took pity of them and cracked the updated game. Developers looked at forum found that Voksi finally get to that, updated version number to block MP, and both sides were happy.

ProfessionalThroneSitters?

Llama is love, llama is life

I still should have discord game hosting rights on Lucid's server...

Then when we get to host the game, if you will kindly explain to me how it works.... it doesn't require a Discord account, I hope. I'm going to open a thread, hopefully with the new game being a blank slate with apparently a dreadful interface, 50% of the players being rusty as fuck and the other half SP players we'll have a novel experience.

Its a server and the discord runs it via commands, unfortunately you will need rights for that. But there are multiple discord communities.

The main advantage over llama is you do your turns ingame so no excuses to stale because of 'forgot to send e-mail'...
