Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Where's all the souls and farming spots, bro?

Best I've found is this - in northern Caelid there's a Minor Erdtree and the Guardians (dudes with spears guarding each small Erdtree) give a 1000 runes each. There are about 15 of them on the road between the tree and Lenne's Rise in the east and they're easy to fight on a horse. Just lock on to them and then circle around and swing until they die.
I made 20k in about 15 minutes on lvl 20, a great help. Now that I'm lvl 44 it's p. useless when a level costs 10k.

Rune and smithing stone poverty is one of the two things that I genuinely don't like about ER. The other one being the ability to teleport not just between bonfires but from anywhere, just by opening your map and clicking. Unbelievable decline. Even Witcher 3 allowed teleporting only between signposts.

Wish there was a decent farming spot so you can at least grind out the extra souls you need to buy some designer lingerie in this game.

North part of the map has a good spot. Farum Greatbridge

There are many slow moving but powerful humanoid enemies there. It's a very large are with 10+ of them. You can backstab them easly, with a nice critical weapon they die fast. they worth 1050 ish runes each. With some rune gear you'll be swiming in runes in an hour.

it with some sort of rhythm game bullshit.
Returning to rolling through patterns as opposed to deflecting made me realize how DS has essentialy the same rhythm feel as Sekiro, same function different form. The main difference is the feel of standing toe-to-toe with the big bad instead of being the underdog. It kinda makes sense seeing how Sekiro is a masterfully trained warrior while DS protags start out as pretty much random nobodies. See, it al makes sense

retarded Open World poison that Skyrim and Witcher 3 used
Ooh ooh and assasin's creed, you forgot assasin's creed! Open world bad, BAD!

The PC version is running worse than it did after today's patch. According to reviewers, each patch has made it worse than their review copies.

Strange, I must be one of those lucky bastards who never experienced these dreaded stutter issues that are so widely reported. There is some loading stutter that does occasionally occur in new areas, but those only persist for a few seconds and then it's smooth sailing for hours.

J_C What's up butthurt fag? Are you trying to imply this isn't an asset reuse: The Game on the scale never seen hitherto? That it isn't a mostly empty, copy-pasted, repetitive slog in a dated engine? Hell, Miyazaki is even literally telling the same story in the same way for the fifth time now, despite having the fat hack by his side.
It's a fucking fact that the game has handcrafted locations, instead of the usual copy-pasted locations of other open world games. Who the fuck cares if they reused textures and modells of older games? I doubt you even played the game, go back and play your Assassin's Creed games retard.

How would you respond?

im here 2 tell u that ur friend is a retard :3

"idk where 2 go" <- game literally tells u at the start to go to the big castle in the distance idk maybe tell ur friend to increase view distance on his voodoo graphics xd

"idk where new weaps are and cant try new builds" <- lol builds are what u center ur character around if u can use everything then ur using a cheat trainer or ur like SL900 xd

"idk the story and i hate that" <- lol storyfag scum

it is ur obligation as a friend to call him out on being a fake fag that prolly watched asmongold playthrus and fashions himself a soulsvet now. he needs to stfu, stop this really effeminate "im so lost" shit and go kill some dragons.

it is ur obligation as an rpg codexer to also put a hatchet deep into this retards skull so his demonic semen can never infest a womb ^.^d

Can confirm the patch today made things measurably worse. Even when the game seems to show ok frames on the counter, there's microfreezing that really fucks everything up.

And yes, pirated version without the first patch ran a little better too. I have no idea how From do this.

I'm on the fence. I hate open world games. I can't stand Skyrim or Breath of the Wild.

A friend who is usually decent in his taste wrote this, when I asked why he uninstalled: ((comments by me in echoes))

How would you respond? This has made me hesitate about the game. I really really really don't like open world games.
I did a sidequest that had as much content as two legacy dungeons combined, opening a ton of new areas that would have been closed off otherwise and ending up in a very, very epic boss encounter, the likes of which is of the main story quality in attention to detail and uniqueness of moves and character model. It also involved two of the hardest NPC invader style fights of the game so far.
So, you really can't just go to the main story point areas if you don't want to miss out on quality content. You need to fine comb the open world, and a lot of it is quite garbage. It also loves to waste your time with a ton of horsing around. Just recently found one of the more interesting mini catacomb area, after having had to horse around for what felt like 10 minutes on a large, large desert map that had literally nothing else present in there (for those who may know of it, it's the area that unlocks after the third shardbeaerer fight. It doesn't seem like there's anything in there at first but it was indeed worth looking around because those catacombs are a good challenge and the boss is srs business).
I think he's not entirely wrong to say that much of a serious gameplay is indeed something to be discovered in the world and discovering it is also a pain.

First you go where you want to then you go where you can.

You don't have the right, O you don't have the right O you don't have the right.

So basically they've gone and ruined the Dark Souls formula, by copying the retarded Open World poison that Skyrim and Witcher 3 used to appease brain dead casuals who are so slow they can go ages without actually having to do anything?

Way to destroy a "franchize".

The thing is, I doubt they could get the truly braindead audience because the level of challenge is at the top of the souls pyramid. I won't be surprised if a week or two from now some of the people attracted by the open world marketing and 10/10 reviews start bashing on the game because they got filtered by certain bosses.

Did they fix multiplayer? It takes forever to PvP.

I think this is the main problem of the game right now, along with optimization.
I can't really summon anyone, be duelist or cooperator. Either "unable to summon phantom" or they immidately return to their world. Hell I cannot even be invaded properly...

Thanks for confirming. I have been in a few games but it has been hit/miss. My only issue is multiplayer. I wish they put in PvP arenas like in DS3.

I think it's literally impossible to get invaded if you don't coop. I tried to invade a few times for lulz, the only thing I ever got, on ALL maps of the game, were gank squads of spell spammers. Once in the aeonia swamp they were on a very tall spot sniping at me as soon as I spawned. Game must give priority to people with summons for invasion to happen. I never got invaded myself.

Engine is laggy aff netcode wise too so it's not particularly fun.

By default, yes. You need to enable player invasions during solo play by using an item from the main hub.

it's supposed to enhance immershun and feelz
I agree with the concept of "empty" immersive game world, but how could "immersion" be an important aspect in a game like this, where everything respawn as soon as you turn your back?

Finished the game. 50 hours, level 145. Did every optional zone (but skipped a lot of small dungeons/runes, and skipped the quest line for 2 of the endings) and got what I presume is every great rune, although the game is huge so some may be hidden.

It was a very good game, although it has lots of annoying issues. I'd say it's not as good as DS or DS, but miles better than DS2 and DS3. Haven't played Bloodborne.

I really liked the story and lore and quests this time around, they were much more in depth than the previous games. I particularly really liked the many different religious factions and their differing interpretations of the gods of the world. All dependent upon each factions morality and perspective. It reminds me a lot of the Abrahamic religions and their many different sects. I also really liked some of the characters, well, Ranni and Melina at least were great and much more interesting than previous From maidens.

The games level design was amazing from beginning to end, at least the second best behind Demons Souls. The enemy design was a bit better than DS3 overall, but still had lots of the STUPID ROLL CATCHING DELAY ESTUS PUNISHING HYPER MOBILE FLAILING BULLSHIT TWENTY HIT COMBO. The game also has a surprising amount of one shots and unavoidable attacks, which I never really experienced in a from game (and I normally don't level my health much.) One endgame boss had an attack that was one hitting me at 60 vigor.

The open world was fun at first. It worked well as downtime and preparation before the big dungeons in the early/midgame. However the last few areas were annoying. They felt like giant gauntlets of enemies, which would've been fine if it didn't last for 20 hours of the game. I said that they were good earlier but I take it back, I was so damn sick of the constant enemy spam through linear paths that I just ended up rushing through the final two areas. Cliffracers on steroids.

The boss variety also fell off lategame, leaving mostly super fast paced anime fights with little else. I've been waiting for a long time but I don't think From will ever release another game as deliberate and thoughtful and atmospheric as Dark Souls.

Sorcery is totally fucking garbage lategame. I had to abandon it and only used the Moonveil Katana, where the weapon art did the damage and stagger of 5 spells and used the same fp as 5.

Also I encountered a boss that will likely be completely impossible to beat with a shield/blocking build. Which is unfortunate, From Soft despises shieldchads.

Anyway, I hope From Soft's next game explores some new territory and isn't Dark Souls 5, even if Dark Souls 5 would likely still be fun.

It's PC, I should be covered if I want to play like that

Uh.. no? next thing you know you'll be saying racing simulators should be as playable on a keyboard. Just because it's on a pc doesn't mean it can't use peripherals.

I still remember 1990s when PC gamers actually bought racing wheels, joysticks (ye good olde sidewinder), Microsoft even had a gamepad of their own... then retardation happened with PCMASTERRACE memes and now somehow if it's not a keyboard it's haram, behaving like the console peasants who think everything should be playable on a gamepad the modern pc loser wants everything to be given to the keyboard god.

Then how about at least fucking warning that the game itself doesn't run on anything but controller? It would save people the frustration of buying something then finding out that they need to buy additional hardware for it to function properly? I would shat on you now, but I am aware that my initial post may have sounded like "everything should run on keyboard when it comes to PC", nah it doesn't need to, but if you release game that doesn't work well with M+K then at least you should be forced to inform your potential customer about that little fact.
I also used to have a joystick for things like flying a jet or chopper in battlefields and other games that supported it back in the days when these games were still good. You still had a decent M+K support in most of these games and that's worth a mention , but those were the times where brainless fanboys didn't just jump on to defend multi-milion or billion corporations, like retards do these days. And people actually had some standards when it came to products they purchased with their hard earned money. Surprising, I know.

I'm still at around the 15 hour mark cause I don't have time to play, and I'm enjoying it a lot.
The main thing I dislike is that after playing Sekiro and Nioh 2, going back to the classic Dark Souls combat of attack-roll-attack-roll is very jarring. .

The new counter mechanic is great and very broken. I felt like you in the beginning, I would say like roll and hit and roll was not fun or reliable, because the increased HP or defense from Knights and their retarded tracking.

I didn't manage also to parry at all due to the abundance of weird timing and delayed enemy attacks.

But oh boy the counter. Just block with your shield or sword with L1, and immediately after you get hit press R2, and he will be open for critical. You don't have to worried about the cheap attack timings, because you act just when you hear or feel the hit and the window is more generous than the parry.

Also try to guard break with R2 charged attacks turtle shield enemies.

The thing is get used to the fact that this games doesn't play as DS1 with OP parries and backstabs. It's like a mix of 80% souls and 20% sekiro.

TLDR: counter is the new parry.

Don't you get creamed blocking with a two-handed weapon?

The voice actor in the intro cinematic (which is just a series of pictures, seems like they skimped out here) was having way too much lmao.

I'm going with a Wrech. I'll erase this character or this save once i actually get a legit copy of the game so whatever, i'll just use this run to fuck around and try all the shit (except for multiplayer i guess but that seems to be broken anyway).

Just loaded the game i'm coming in guyz.
