Lol, you just can't help being a munchkin. Even when you are trying not to. Of all the shields, you just HAD to grab the most OP one.
I don't get it, do you want me to use a worse shield on purpose? Why would anyone do that?

Anyway, here's the video:

Is it good enough to get the Porkster's seal of approval? Or even this still doesn't meet your standards?

Just did this mostly for my own entertainment. Found a talisman that raises guard boost so for the fun of it i wanted to try it with the most fitting greatshield i found for the build/look i'm going for:

I tried to purposedly getting hit on the shield but all i managed to do is getting smacked in the face half the time lmao. I did block some big hits several times which was fun to see.

Some enemy animations will help them jank around a block. Hawks and the spike roll attack that red Albinauric soldiers do are good examples. Also commonly happens if the player is unlocked or if the lock on camera is struggling to track an opponent.

BTW, Atlus seems to be dead for co-op. Guess i finally have to level up a bit. Or maybe unlock some more summoning pools. I got two but, the Perfumer cave, appears to be its own area. I tried to get summoned there for a straight 20 minutes and nothing.

In my experience, one-handed swords are much better with shields than just about any other weapon. Their attack animations are much quicker, allowing you to get a hit or two or three in and bring the shield back up to guard in time for the next incoming attack. With maces, and any kind of two-handed weapon in one hand, I struggled to defend with shield on time due to how clunky the animations were. Though that might have changed with the latest patch.

No, but there's like 300 greatshields you can find naturally by playing, and relatively early on, but you picked the one that's hidden really out of the way and just happens to be the highest guard boost, etc. Very, very munchkiny.

Anyway, here's the video:

Congrats, you actually nailed some dodges this time. My skillz are clearly rubbing off on you. Keep it up soldier.

Yeah, lots of larger enemies will hit around the shield due to some bad calculations/camera angles. What works for me against those as a primary shield user, is to back up in those cases. If you can put some distance between you, the blocking calculations work better. But then of course it becomes more challenging to get in to do damage.

Did you beat the boss in that area?

That never prevented anything. I killed everything that even so much as moves in Caelid and i get a million connections within the span of seconds, half of them ending up in error lmao.

I know for a fact if you try to summon someone in one of those catacombs and you have the boss beat no summon sign will ever show up.

Your facts are wrong because i beat all the bosses in every cave and i still get summoned in all of them both in Caelid and Luria.

I also didn't beat the boss in the Perfumer cave.

I think it's the level. SL36 but the area is rated 60-80 according to the wiki page.

Thank you, my liege. Now I can die in peace.

I picked exactly the setup that I used in my first playthrough. It doesn't "just happen to be the highest guard boost", I'm facing what's essentially the final boss of the game, of course I'll use the best shield I can equip. If you think it'll make any difference, I can use a different shield: I play 99% of the fight two-handing the greatsword and only block a single move, the Brass Shield would probably be enough. Do I need to record another fight? By now, you should know I would do anything for you, Porky.

You're cheating because you used the best shield in the game instead of Rickety Shield. But then you spend basically the entire fight with it on your back, meaning that if you don't have that giant shield equipped, you're cheating because you're trying to lower your weight to dodge-whore it up. Just uninstall. Jesus.

Wait, i just noticed i'm not trying to summon anyone. I'm the one trying to get summoned.

If I had to guess, I'd say you're too low. People who are going to level up are going to be much higher level than you are now and people who are doing challenge runs are probably sitting at base and not summoning since that'd defeat the purpose of a challenge run.

Like i said, i'm not summoning anyone, i'm trying to sun-bro. I want to be the one getting summoned to help others.

But yeah, i guess it's the level. Just figured i could have stayed low for a bit more given how easy Altus Plateau actually is.

And i wasn't doing a challenge run specifically just testing the ground for a future SL1 run eventually and pacing myself to make sure i don't trivalize the difficulty.

Ok, I will do a SL1 run literally just to get noticed by Porky-san.

PorkyThePaladin, do you have any indication regarding the character's appearances? I wouldn't want to cheat even on those.

So about the final boss:

Holy shit guys, does Radagon bring the whole "attacks track you 360°" to a whole new level of absurdity. Is there even some positioning allowed against him?

Yes, I'm raging hard against this asshole :x

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
I've been trying some things and sorry Guts, but I've found my new favourite colossal sword:
Watchdog's Greatsword
- that thing not only scales beautifully, has good reach, great stagger, but also has the vertical moveset on the R2 and is also FAST. Its moveset is a bit similar to Ruins... but longer reach and WAY FASTER. I've tested them one after the other and the difference is quite astounding. Swinging Ruins feels like swimming in molasses, while Watchdog's is beautifully smooth and deadly.
Finally a true worthy successor to FUGS and the like.

With it, I went back to using a single blade - it still does great damage and its R2s are beautiful.
Heavy it gets S Str scaling, so it gets a lot of extra damage from two-handing - although I was still doing significantly more damage with Fire infusion (further boosted when activating Flame Grant me Strenght).

Too bad it can only be gotten near end game. Guess its mostly NG+ material.

Also played a bit with the newly buffed Lion's Claw. Oh boy, guess its my new favorite offensive Weapon Art (Bloodhound's Step still wins for safety buffer against bosses, of course). Goes off really quick, offers great hyperarmor, does good damage and pancakes enemies. Quite beautiful indeed.

THEN YOU ARE WRONG GODDAMNIT.

:x

Ho yeah, explain this then:

Idk Purple Eyestabber determined this and I trusted him.

:)

Instead of the boss thing it could have just been high level but I swear after doing the boss fights I can never get a summon in the same area and it's RIGHT AFTER the boss fight or not long after. Fuck this weird game I beat it I am done.

Also fuck these guys they can't even do a proper ending that lasts longer than 2 minutes.

Everything I thought about the series is true it is just autists knifing each other in the back and obsessing over lore descriptions and that sucks when it could have been so much more. I bet they thought they were really pushing the boundaries when they let you buy the notes from the merchants to figure stuff out. Also fuck the quest design in this game at 200 hours I had to FINALLY break out the wiki to find out where Millicent fucked off to because SHE WILL NOT TALK WHEN YOU WALK BY HER LIKE A NORMAL PERSON THAT KNOWS YOU WOULD. GODDAMN BUGMEN. 7.5 out of 10.

Perahps it's invasions that stop once you kill the boss. But co-op summons are forever. Every rune arc i have (and you can see i have a few) were won with co-op AFTER i had beaten the bosses in the area.

Which brings me to how few armor sets there are in the game that is based entirely upon armor sets.
What? there are ton of armors in this game, the main problem is that most are ugly aff and overdesigned.

Armor | Elden Ring Wiki (fextralife.com)

In fact I'm not sure there's any RPG out there with more unique sets (ie not counting games with diablo like loot where you incrementally get the same armor over and over with +1 stat) than Elden Ring.
Still, it's a ton of armor sets.. and just 3 or 4 that aren't eyesores.

Most of which are just the same armor recolored/tweaked. I'm sure it has more sets than Dark Souls 2 but in a game entirely based on builds I want more customization for the sets we do have. It's boring. I see everyone using the same shit. I had to strip naked and wear mushrooms to feel different and then people still did that.
