Can you get invaded by two guys?

I was just trying to see if co-op worked after restoring the old save and the host got invaded by two red guys. Never saw that before. Password play perhaps?

I think it's if you're co-oping and using the taunter's tongue at the same time. Taunter's tongue is sort of like the withered finger or whatever in DS3.

Good grief, i missed this whole thing completely lmao.

I still occasionally find new passages and items. It's bizarre how much stuff there is in this game.

i wish fromsoft would fix their god damn servers they've had like 5 games to figure this shit out and I'm still getting disconnected half way through dungeons or dealing with dial-up era latency most of the time

shame because these games are so much fun to invade/do co op stuff

I find it absolutely amusing that you have better online latency with a mod than with the official servers.

Are you sure the host wasn't dicking around with his router? Just wondering because that was a thing in DS3 where people would screw with their router to create controlled lag on the invader. Your connection seemed pretty good up until you killed his assistant.

So I ditched my last playthrough because I felt I had become a bit too powerful due to grinding out 12 levels. I ended up level 150 on the mountaintop of the giants. I've replayed the entire game and reached where I was. I haven't done everything that character did yet, but I've done some things he hasn't. No grinding. I'm level 145. I don't feel like I've broken the difficulty or anything though. It's fine. Enemies are still a threat to me.

The insane part is that the coop mod has better netcode. And it was made by one guy and is based on P2P not on some server.

I remember when an admin on Namco Bandai forums talked about the vague possibility of porting Dark Souls 1 to PC, provided sufficient interest was shown for it. Then a petition was launched (which I signed immediately; insert It Ain't Much But It's Honest Work.jpg), and wouldn't you know it, the top brass at Namco Bandai actually listened.

Now my memory is a bit fuzzy about the next event as I don't remember if it was someone from Namco Bandai or someone from FromSoft, but in any case someone said, in essence, "Please bear with us, this is [their] [our] first time porting from console to PC, so it won't be perfect."

And it was terrible (though I didn't mind, personally). And it took, what, a couple of weeks? before Durante published DSfix, solving the port's most important issues.

Fastforward ten years later... oh how things have not changed.

Funnily enough considering it's troubled development, and putting aside the atrocious problem of weapon durability being linked to framerate, Dark Souls 2 is still the best PC version of a Souls game.

Yep, DSFix was amazing. The port was pretty bad on release, but a couple weeks later, with the Durante's mod... it became actually better then most ports.

elden ring is a bad game because theres no ending where i chain marika to the erd tree with my elden lord powers and have hot consensual rotsex with malenia in front of her, populating the entire lands between with our offspring and bringing about the age of scarlet by dripping our rotjuices on the elden ring

I spent hours worth of blood, sweat, tears and cum to finally take down the Crucible Knight duo, and what's my reward? A grant total of 28k Runes that cover barely 50% of what I need to level up at this point and some bullshit armor I'm never gonna use because it's too heavy.

Thanks, FromSoft, I love you guys.

Tales of Manlius Maximus, Bonker! extraordinaire:

Progress with the strength build continues, about to reach the end of the end game. I've defintely reached the point where I can't just bonk! to death bosses with ease save a few exceptions.

-Almost killed Fire Giant on the first try, had him at a sliver of health but lost control of the fight and got fireballed into his delayed fireballs which no amount of Vigor will save you from. Had to learn his second phase properly since this time around I didn't have Rot Breath and was stubbornly refusing to go back to Caelid to farm for the ingredients for Rot Pots, at least it made the victorious fight, where I staggered him with a charged R2 in his panicky eye into a critical for the killing blow all the more satisfying. Fun fight once you get it into your brain to use Torrent to close the gap everytime he rolls away, otherwise he spams his fireballs which are the easiest way to lose control of said fight.

-Godskin Duo on the other hand got bonked! really hard. Managed to stunlock the small one from the word go playing really aggressive and then annihilated them in around less than a minute. I'm almost certain they changed their AI to be more passive compared to before, the fat one mostly stood by while I was bullying his friend at the start (didn't make a difference after as they never got to respawn at the same time).

-Took down Placidusax on the first try but it certainly was no bonking! extravaganza. I actually had switched to the Zweihander with Royal Knight's Resolve and the Spear talisman (that boosts thrusting attacks damage counterattacks) to make use of its thrusting R2 since I suspected he would be resistant to all but piercing damage like Fortissax (he was). Very long, very tense fight, fun but hopefully will never get summoned for it.

-Took more tries than I should have on Mohg. Beyond the first try where I realised I really didn't know how to deal with his second phase, I had him twice on a one hit kill only to lose concentration listening to his soundtrack and get wombo-comboed to death. But when you can bonk! him for almost 3k damage when Lion's Claw hits his head it was only a matter of (short) time, took him down on the fifth atempt.

Just reached Haligtree, considering how hard this area bullied me the first time around we'll see how Manlius will fare. I've also heard there's some great loot called...*checks notes*...the Sword of Miquella. Can't be too hard to get, right?

The next playthrough I'm planning is with a 99 Vigor/99 Endurance build, I hope I will be able to say this is a lie.

But yeah, without the horsey the Fire Giant is unplayable.

I think I know the name of the one who brandishes it, I must have heard it a couple of times in the last few hours. It should be something like "Madaleine", probably.

Assuming this is a serious comment/question and not just weird humour like most of the other stuff itt, it's easy, but you have to hit the third Haligtree map after the Prayer Room, so it depends on how much the first two areas screw you over.

Ok, someone commented this on the vigor page of the wiki:

Maximum possible HP: 3242
99 Vigor
Morgott's Rune
Crimson Amber Medallion +2
Erdtree's Favor +2
Crimsonspill Crystal Tear
Add the Fire resist talisman and the fire resist spell and you're definitely right.

But yeah, without the horsey the Fire Giant is unplayable.
I've cooped for it enough times (including no rot, no bleed and useless host) to know that's a lie, just needlessly painful.
But THE most painful fight to do without a horse is the Dragon in the frigid lake in my opinion. I got summoned for it once and oh boy did I hate the host for it. :negative:

...You hurt me senpai

Serious question: does anyone know exactly how much a boss' resistance to a certain status effect increases after the first two applications?
This is what the wiki shows up for Morgott, don't know how accurate it is but it seems consistent with the video our resident poet posted of his fight against Godrick.

I killed the fire giant twice before I knew you could mount in there. :hahano:
I think it's not TOO bad, but the horse is a massive QOL improvement for sure.

Ew.

Oh that's interesting. I didn't even think to look at those.

But...how? There's no fog gate in front of his arena the first time you fight him, so normaly you just access it on horseback. Did you dismount to cross the chains?

The very first time I came across him, I was summoning NPCs for fights because I wanted to complete quests and wasn't sure if it needed NPC summoning like in DS2. So I summoned Alexander which disabled mounting for the fight. Second time, I just assumed it wasn't possible. At some point, I saw someone bitching that Alexander disables mounting and had a lightbulb moment.

Aah ok, fair enough. I had missed Alexander in Liurnia the first time (like most people I imagine, had to check the wiki to eventually complete his quest), so I never had that issue. My problem was ingraining the habit of "If FG uses roll=summon Torrent".

Incidentally, I don't think there are any quests where you have to summon NPCs for boss fights in Elden Ring, right?

Yeah, you don't have to summon anyone. The quests are MUCH more forgiving than the other From Soulsbornes.

I completed I think all the quests except Hyetta my first time around. I don't want to talk about how long those completionist blind playthroughs were, but there's a reason Lutte was talking about NG+6 or whatever when I was still running through my first go round.
