Why even call this Elden Ring?
ER was their most successful game and the assets are already sitting there.
Why even call this Elden Ring?
You're a dude swinging a sword at a dude, who's swinging a bigger sword at you. It's simple, effective, down to the point. You are not a ninja doing backflips while shooting lasers, and every attack of every boss is NOT an AOE attack that explodes half of the room while summoning glowing crystals that shoot magic at you.
The issue with this is that your criticisms of the game will always be from the outside looking in; you haven't actually played it. There are some that even claim ER is a spiritual successor to you, Dark Souls II.It makes me feel highly prestigious to not have ever played Elden Ring even for a second, and knowing that I never will.
These are not very smart peopleThere are some that even claim ER is a spiritual successor to you, Dark Souls II.
Inside the Mind of Bloodborne and Dark Souls’ Creator
Just look at that motherfucker.“It kind of relates to what I'm doing in my creations. In addition to that, I studied Sociolology and Psychology, and, after school, I revisited those themes, and this is the fruit of what you're experiencing now.”
Elden Ring validated all of DS2's design decisions. These are not very smart peopleThere are some that even claim ER is a spiritual successor to you, Dark Souls II.
Not all, but some. It also validated some design decision from literally every previously released game of theirs.Elden Ring validated all of DS2's design decisions. These are not very smart peopleThere are some that even claim ER is a spiritual successor to you, Dark Souls II.
By making by far the most money, being their most popular game, and having widespread universal appeal?Elden retardation has destroyed From Software.
They were doing very well in DS1-DS2-Bloodborne era.By making by far the most money, being their most popular game, and having widespread universal appeal?Elden retardation has destroyed From Software.
Yeah skipping Elden Ring is kind of goofy considering it's closer in spirit to Dark Souls 2 than what 3 was.The issue with this is that your criticisms of the game will always be from the outside looking in; you haven't actually played it. There are some that even claim ER is a spiritual successor to you, Dark Souls II.It makes me feel highly prestigious to not have ever played Elden Ring even for a second, and knowing that I never will.
ER is by far their most successful game, whether or not you like it, it didn't "destroy" FromSoftware. Also, it's literally just a bigger Dark Souls. They were doing very well in DS1-DS2-Bloodborne era.By making by far the most money, being their most popular game, and having widespread universal appeal?Elden retardation has destroyed From Software.
Know they grew a lot, probably they are both winning and wasting more money.
And by having widespread universal appeal know we get online coop popamoles; instead of finely and elegantly crafted SP games we can´t get from any other developer.
Besides butchered powerstancing, I don't see how. It's DS3 stretched stretched thin over open world template. There are some that even claim ER is a spiritual successor to you, Dark Souls II.
First thing that popped into my head on seeing the thread was something more akin to Monster Hunter or Dragon's Dogma with some co-op thrown in. I don't think that would be great either due to FS's combat with large enemies amounting to hacking at toenails until something's health bar is gone, but it's always been a direction I thought they should move in ever since Demon Souls, honestly. I thought they were getting better with the tail cuts in Dark Souls but they seem to have moved away from that again. Monster Hunter with proper monsters like undead and fire elementals and shit would be pretty cool. Some others have attempted that sort of thing but generally with shit budgets and results. Dragon's Dogma was a good take but didn't have multiplayer and didn't finish cooking. I'm personally fine with single player but it's always a huge extra draw and I understand the appeal if you've got friends worth playing with.I think it's the trend they seem to be chasing with this that is making us recoil.
Fortnite, Battle Royale, MOBAs, extraction shooters, hero shooters etc. I just saw an IGN promo and that's pretty much how they (IGN) is trying to sell this game.
Now, it's possible this is not actually what FromSoft is trying to do, and it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't given FromSoft doesn't usually seem to be looking at the west for inspiration, but then i'm sure there are plenty of decline Japanese games they could be imitating so maybe that isn't really relevant.
The game in question is a low budget cash grab and a debut for a fresh director, don't consider it the main project for FS, we have to wait and see what Miyazaki himself is working on. They have so much money from ER so they can withstand a couple of failed projects. Though, judging by the hype online, I doubt it will be a failed project, especially considering the budgetAnd by having widespread universal appeal know we get online coop popamoles; instead of finely and elegantly crafted SP games we can´t get from any other developer.
There's nothing different about Fortnite and Overwatch-clones. The market is saturated with those. Now let's remember what happens when a company has a taste of the online money.Lots of whiners in the thread. At least they are trying something different, even if it ends up being shit.
It is not an always online service game, they stated it directly in the interviews. You can play it solo if you want. I'll probably do so by sailing the high seas, just so I could get the taste of this project without giving my support to itIf you really enjoy FromSoftware games the best you can do is not give any support to these lazy, blatantly always-online cashgrabs.
Neither is GTA V, but that didn't stop Rockstar from leeching the Online to death. Is a slippery slope. It is not an always online service game,
Why you comparing FS to fucking Rockstar?Neither is GTA V, but that didn't stop Rockstar from leeching the Online to death. Is a slippery slope. It is not an always online service game,
